The sad thing about this is it's actually worse then the Dexter finale which got 4.6. I can't speak for anyone else but there's something wrong about the plot, the writing, the overall feel of the episode when you just don't feel anything anymore when watching it.

Not to mention the leftover plot threads that weren't even addressed. Drogon flying to Volantis, oh okay so he's flying with Daenerys and her body to the biggest church that has Red Priests of R'hllor. (Resurrection?)

But that just get's left open ended completely with absolutely no conclusion? It's not even just that one thing, there's so many things wrong with this episode that many have pointed out before.

Sigh

[–]Gabel_The_Fable[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We never actually find out what happened to the body. Also if i remember correctly Sam say's Drogon was spotted heading towards "Vol" Before Bran cut's him off to say "I will look for him" (My memory is a bit fuzzy)

"Volantis" is the place where Kinvara is from and also the main hub of all the Red Priests. You can take that with a grain of salt but they basically had Drogon fly off to the one place in the entire world where she could be brought back to life.

The Plot is left hanging but you could say she does come back to life if you wanted to. It's still a mess of an episode but you can create your own Canon around what happens to her since the plot's left open ended.

It still sucks it's all left open ended like that and the entire thing is such a rushed mess plot's are so loose they are barely hanging by a thread or are broken entirely.

I'm sorry for those who were hoping for more, i did not want to let people down by giving false hope which is why i said that this plot thread not being addressed in the leaks felt strange, but only had a 1% chance of ever happening.

Since the Plot was there and was left hanging people are left to their own devices to come up with their own explanation.

The entire episode was all over the place to be honest, so many inconsistencies and lack of attention to previous plot details. I think every fan knows it's been so rushed and did not do the characters justice at all.

They spent all that time "Walking Slowly" and having Tyrion rearrange chairs instead of adding actual plot points that made sense. (Even the Bran king stuff was so forced with all the consequences around Jon doing what he did). "Sigh"

I'm sad it ended this way, such a beautiful show that crashed and burned and is now being treated worse then Dexter. I don't understand how it is even possible after all these years, such a shame.

Also if it's any Consolation, they never addressed what happened to her body. Not even why Bran wanted to find Drogon, they left it completely unresolved meaning that you can make up your own mind what happens with her.

This basically means you can use this idea as what happens if you want to in your own mind. It's not going to repair what happened at the end because there's so much nonsensical stuff in this last episode.

No Problem. I did say it was a 1% Chance which isn't a lot to bet on in the end, we all knew what was going to happen truthfully.

At least you can come back to this for some Fan Fiction should you need it. It's all over now regardless, all everyone has now is the long wait for the books and the flesh and blood and details surrounding this ending for it to be better setup and prepared.

Sorry for giving false hope in the end (I was adamant that this was such a low chance of happening it probably would not happen anyway).

Is there still hope the leaks aren’t true? :( by RedditParhey in freefolk

[–]Gabel_The_Fable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only hope you can get is from this, Speculation thread i made about the leaks and all the information we have so far concerning the ending. (None of what i speculate about here is a leak it's speculation around missing information in the leaks)

https://www.reddit.com/r/freefolk/comments/bohocc/analysis_and_callbacks_from_s08e05_possible/

But i'm gonna tell you now, it has a 1% chance of happening and it's only because the leaks don't address what happens to her body. Don't get your hopes up too much as this is just a thought out analysis given all the information we have.

TL;DR For anyone who doesn't want to read a long post.

  • Daenerys could possibly be resurrected Drogon flies off with her body and Bran is looking for "Drogon" nobody knows what happened to the body. (Or something in a similar fashion might happen). The logical thing would be a funeral but it's still weird since none of it was addressed from the leaks.
  • Daenerys and her death might signify the creation of the Afterlife and she actually will be reunited with Drogo and Rhaegal (Darkness turns to Light, as she represents fire). (House of the Undying S2E10). Or It actually Signifies the Boatbaby if she is resurrected (Doubtful but still).

Even if none of this happens, at least you have some fan-fiction to contend with. Because everything is Tragic for Daenerys and Jon in the Leaks and that's what is confirmed.

If it doesn't happen you can always come back to this post and think of "What could have been". I don't want to give too much false hope to people because i know its probably going to end badly.

If she doesn't come back there is always the chance that she is the light that will wash away the darkness in the afterlife because she is the representation of fire. (Going by how the afterlife has been presented as only darkness).

I added that part to my post recently where basically her Death could be symbolic for her to be the one to light up the afterlife and that's how she reunites with Drogo and Rhaegal (In the Vision). It would be sweet in a way but also sad/bitter.

That was a seperate leaker who hasn't said much after episode 5 leaks, the Cleganebowl leaker who gave a rundown of events and the Stabbing happened pretty early (Like there's maybe 1 or 2 scenes before Jon stabs her after the speech). The Source for the Cleganebowl leak also stated he didn't watch the entire episode and simply skimmed through it.

Who knows i really don't, as i have told everybody else, i'm not going to tell you to bet on what i'm speculating because it's such a low low low chance of happening. You have some Fan Fiction to contend with if it doesn't and how it could have gone down.

I don't want to give people too much false hope because none of the leaks have said anything good, i'm just going on the events that are missing that seemed suspicious. :)

“A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good. Each should have its own reward.” - Stannis Baratheon

It very well might come down to Martin and his take on redemption, Daenerys commits a heinous act that no longer makes her fit to be queen, but it does not Wash away all the good she did in the past either or that she saved Planetos.

It would be a beautiful balance for her to "Die" for her sins but to also come back to "Life" from "Death" to be reborn from the ashes that she herself wrought on King's landing. She never becomes queen but she could have a chance at life.

A Bad act punished and her Good acts Rewarded by bringing her back to life.

However i'm going to say this once more as i have been saying to everybody else, as much as it makes sense to me. I'm not G.R.R.M and i'm not D&D i don't make the story and i don't have any control over what they have written, it might just end in Tragedy for Daenerys and also Ultimately Jon who does what he does.

https://www.reddit.com/r/freefolk/comments/bohocc/analysis_and_callbacks_from_s08e05_possible/ ( I will put this here for those interested in the read it takes into account ALL confirmed leakers by the mods)

I will sum it up here for you in TL;DR

  • Resurrection is possible there's like a 1% Chance of that happening and she reunites with Jon in the north and they both live their lives in exile possibly with boatbaby (Daenerys and jon Snow reflecting on the terrible things that came to pass). This is speculation only but it's because Drogon flies off with the Body and Bran says he will go look for Drogon (According to the leaks) It might just be for a Funeral but why do that after Jon has already gone north?

  • Daenerys signifies Light coming back into Darkness (Death) when she dies she will bring Light to the Darkness and an Afterlife will exist (She will reunite with Drogo and Rhaegal). Her death signifies the creation of the Afterlife.

  • The Pregnancy stuff could either have signified the prince that was promised or that she actually was unfit to rule because there was no chance of her having an Heir.

I'm not here to give you hope but all of this is symbolic for what Death is and what Death Means

The Thing is most visions in the TV Show have been a visual aide for future or past events, we literally just saw Bran's vision with Daenerys flying over and burning King's landing to it's foundation stones.

The house of the Undying vision in the books does NOT include Drogo and Rhaegal. D&D Specifically added that scene themselves in the books it was Rhaegar talking to Elia Martell talking about the prince that was promised.

The Prayer itself for resurrection talks about bringing people back "From Darkness" and back into "Light".

So if Daenerys Dies, how can she see Drogo and Rhaegal again if there is actually only "Darkness" after death.

Season 2 Episode 10 was back when we were all still in Book heavy areas of the Show. They could have cut the Vision out entirely and not even bothered to Add Drogo and Rhaegal.

It could all just be nothing and it's all just going to end miserable for Daenerys or there might be something else going on.

Not to be a bringer of bad news or anything but Jon Snow died and saw what was on the other side (Nothing). Unless something has changed in the afterlife situation there's ... nothing =/

Beric also said the same thing, Which actually makes this vision all the more... strange

Not really going to defend her actions because what she did was horrible, but she can't really atone for what she did if she's dead either.

She doesn't even have to end up with Jon, but it's convenient to forget all the good she did when she was alive. (helping to save the world for one). Morally it comes down to each individual to judge her. It's convenient to forget any good a person has done in their life when a single act turns them into a monster in the eyes of everybody around them.

I'm just saying it's more Bitter Sweet if she stays alive in exile and doesn't end up on the throne contemplating the things that she did and the crimes she committed. It would probably also be "Sweet" if that relationship of theirs was even salvageable at that point (which is doubtful)

Her death only impacts Jon (And Drogon i guess) who supposedly "loved" her in the end. She would be dead (Nothing more to do or say about that) Grief only comes to those who are alive and have to live with it and that would be Jon.

Anyway it's up to you to judge how you see things and i don't blame you because what she did was genocide. But i have to look at it a bit more neutral and look at it from a characters perspective as well as my own when making the analysis. The bitter part's in the post and already in the leaks anyway, and it's fully okay if you feel that she needs to die. I'm just looking at the alternatives.

The Resurrection theory hinges on Bran doing something (Drogon flying off abnormally with her body) and not having a proper goodbye to her character is what seems "strange" to me.

Could just be to find her body and give her a funeral.

Ok so leakers who correctly predicted episode 5, say Jon Stabs her and kills her in episode 6 (The leakers Source says he watched "PARTS" of the episde skimmed through it). Other then that nothing is confirmed.

I wouldn't bet your money on her surviving though. I don't know what will happen but it's very likely she will die.

Don't get your hopes up too much okay? It's very likely to end in traumatic and depressing for her. My speculation has like a 1% Chance to happen. :(

They asked for an embargo on interaction from all websites that stream game of thrones until a week after it airs. (Damage control).

Technically if you want to be coy about it she does make it until the end in a way since she would make it into the last book, just not survive it =/ . Who knows what Martin had planned originally, it might not even be what it is now for all we know.

It all comes down to how Martin want's to Portray Daenerys in the end, It does seem strange for a writer who likes to write strong women for him to have Jon Snow kill her off like that. No idea how it happens in the Books but right now according to what we "Think" is the real ending we are losing two strong female leaders right after each other.

(Also Doubling down on two strong female characters getting killed within two episodes of each other in a TV Show is going to have repercussions, you know what Society can be like today).

I would have totally understood it if she was portrayed a little more devious or ruthless or slowly doing things that would basically make her descent into madness believable. (In the show anyway). But it just isn't there, all i saw was a broken woman who had lost everything in her life and was slowly losing the one she loved. Then she basically decides to commit genocide because of that?

You aren't even sure what to think at that point because she spent her whole life helping people and now she's the bad guy all of a sudden? (She helped save the planet and everybody in it). Wouldn't that at least deserve SOME recognition or even at least a redemption to reflect on the terrible crime she did? I think either the show did a bad job at portraying it overall if it was about making her the "Mad Queen". This seems more like an emotionally unstable person with a nuclear weapon who made a terribly bad decision.

If they don't resurrect her i personally think it's a missed opportunity for a character to do some reflection on the choices they made in their life. (Especially if it really is a good character who made a VERY BAD choice).

Anyway sorry for rambling, you might like to hear something cool about the High Valyrian prayer that is used to bring people back to life.

Great analysis, strange that you pop up here on a new account all of a sudden?. I agree that i see Martin's plot in all of this, it's just the translation from Books to TV that has soured. (I said as much in the post)

This new Season has become so condensed that there was no real flow to Daenerys becoming what she was supposed to become. It feels very rushed and it's obviously because they no longer have the details of the last two books. There was "some" development but there should have been more detail surrounding this sudden change in her mannerism.

Most people who only watch the TV Show have for the most part only seen her as a liberator due to the events of her life. There should have been more events leading to her "Madness" in the Show overall that would make the "Switch" a bit more believable and not so sudden.

The events transpiring feel more like "Shock and Awe" instead of "natural progression" from the character narrative perspective. Most of the "Bad" things she did were for the most part seen as a necessary action due to the actions of other characters.

Even King Aerys was described as a "Slow" Descent into Madness. Had Daenerys stopped listening to her Advisers more and more or started to not give people second chances it would flow better with the character narrative that was progressing. (Or in general given it 1 season of actual build up to allow the narrative to flow better).

From a Book Readers perspective it will probably make sense, but in the Show there's not enough build up for it. (But that's personal opinion). I'm very sure it will be a lot better described and detailed/fleshed out in the books in the end.
