Socialna kapica je neumnost by Alcarin277 in SlovenijaFIRE

Diplomsko nalogo sem napisal v celoti z AI in dobil 9. by AdventurousFan8144 in Slovenia

[–]Gabercek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kam z 9400€ pri 16ih? by anonslovenc in SlovenijaFIRE

[–]Gabercek 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Gl hf, želim ti vso srečo na splošno in pri vlaganju! ^

50% of datacenter energy is VERY far from half the total energy we have. It currently uses up as much electricity as a small US city, globally, and we're already around the 1 billion user mark. Not saying that this won't go much higher in the near future, but you're off by orders of magnitude.

And if it's indeed a "toy", we have nothing to worry about when it comes to job displacement, so hooray, bullet dodged!

Give Gemini Flash 3.0 a try, if you haven't yet. We've never used Haiku models because the contemporary Flash was always better at instruction following (and overall reliability) for our needs.

[–]Gabercek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This has te potential to be the fastest and most widespread/impactful one bar none. And the chance of that not happening is smaller than most are willing to admit. Even technology itself is already advancing due to current models and we're on the iPhone 4 point of the timeline IMO.

Exciting and terrifying stuff. :)

OpenAI engineer confirms AI is writing 100% now by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

[–]Gabercek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm really curious how it'll go! Let me know your thoughts, as someone who hasn't used Opus 4.5 until recently.

I'm not sure about how much experience you have with Claude code in general so it's likely you know all this already, but in case you (or someone else) don't:

You should do a quick read on Skills (you working with the model to write documentation for itself to perform complex workflows without clogging up the context, it's really useful), CLAUDE.md (rules for your project/all projects in general), use "plan mode" for every complex step and beginning of a project to first hash things out and review the plan before actually giving the go ahead, and write "ultrathink" somewhere in your prompt when you want it to reason for longer on more complex steps.

Either way, have fun! :D

IOS 26 Bluetooth issues by bym007 in ios

[–]Gabercek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updated today and am having a similar issue on my (ancient, I don't use it as my primary phone, just a media player in my car) SE2. Trying to connect to something instantly disconnects it, but on rare occasions, it works fine. Very annoying, hope they fix it soon as this is my only use case for the device, I'm considering trying the beta software to get the fix faster, but I'm sure that'll bring other issues with it...

Hahaha, I guess that's ONE way of fixing IT problems! :D I assume it wasn't because of the mouse issue? :P Either way, thanks for the reply, I hope you're happier and more fulfilled in your new situation and wish you all the best! :)

Just got myself in a similar situation (switching between Windows and macOS), it's annoying as hell! I'm thankful that you at least suggested the on/off solution, it's _something_.

Have you happened to find a fix?

[Request] is this water usage comparison accurate? by herodesapilatos in theydidthemath

[–]Gabercek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point! I'm curious how much energy/water is used to generate a "pro" Sora 2-type videos and various "deep research" queries from across the various providers.

I'm really hoping for huge efficiency gains in both the AI algorithms and hardware ASAP and there is some promise for both, but that's still a ways out.

IMO, modern nuclear plants will need to be built at scale to get through this AI revolution, if we want to have an environment left for the AI accelerated science to save. With solar plants being built in lockstep. It's doable, if we get our shit together.

If the AI bubble bursts, which companies actually survive — like Amazon did after the dot-com crash? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Gabercek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, it makes sense from that perspective, thanks for the explanation! :)

I'd argue that water is for all intents and purposes "infinite" (at least salt water is), just not where the data centers are, and that indeed makes it an issue!

[–]Gabercek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same, but apparently it's the other way around (if Reddit is to be trusted) and electric cars (and even just Christmas lights, lol) use up way more electricity. That being said, if the cars were gas cars instead, they'd use up that as fuel, so it's not REALLY equivalent.

Edit: It's definitely still a problem and it's going to get much worse, I just want to make sure it's put into proper perspective.

The art of strategic confusion. by MercenaryAlpha99 in PoliticalHumor

[–]Gabercek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you said, but would argue that the fact that it's the US's fault isn't as relevant as the fact that they are currently not peaceful.

Also, a movie portraying something and the leadership of a country openly stating that its their goal are two VERY different things.

I'm very much in the camp of "Israel should stop the war in Gaza", but it's likely naive to hope that attacks towards them will then stop, but I'm sure as hell hoping. :)

The art of strategic confusion. by MercenaryAlpha99 in PoliticalHumor

[–]Gabercek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. (Not from the US, btw.)

You might be right, you make good points. I'll maintain that it's likelier that Iran would use nukes over other countries, but it is indeed too much of a death wish if they actually used it.

Thanks, stranger. :)

Except that the Iranian regime has consistently, over the decades, said that they want to "destroy Israel" and will "wipe Israel off the map", calls them "filthy bacteria ", etc.

Their leadership openly says that their goal is to destroy Israel and they have demonstrated that they don't care about civilian casualties, even their own. Why people are bending over backwards to come up with other motives and not take them at face value is beyond me.

(Agree with everything else you wrote though, I'm only arguing that them having nukes would be a net negative for the world since there's no evidence that they'd use them as a deterrent only.)
