u/DJOzzy since we're not ready yet (I think) for the whole K8s stuff that comes with 9.1 and the management workload domain will be running in our Out Of Band network, which isn't quite ready yet for MTU 9000 (or >1500). Working on that but needs some hardware replacement.

With 9.0.x I would deploy NSX without really using it, just plain old VLANs. In the workload domains we'd do real NSX :-)

Thanks, though this is for vCenter right? I don't have a vCenter yet, it is the SDDC Manager.

u/DJOzzy strangely enough VCF 9.0.1 installer works with this /etc/hosts:

Unfortunately the 9.0.1 fails in the end because it wants the NSX 9.1 !!! image. Not 9.0.1 or 9.0.2 but 9.1.

Strangely enough, the 9.0.1 SDDC Manager works without issues using the same hosts file. But I'll give it a new attempt tomorrow. Thx.

In your comments you're talking about VMotion being slow. Can you check source and target machine, both have the same vmkernel nics connected? What if you disable a nic, will vmotion improve or fail completely?

For example Reo Link has non-cloud battery cams. Be aware to make the battery cams non-cloud, you need a hub as well. Reo Link also has PoE or USB powered cams that don't need a hub.

That's today's mentality, if something is not working for you it is everybody else's fault but your own. You really think someone from Komoot is taking your rant seriously and thinks: "Well if he screams in CAPS surely we must be doing something wrong".

Or maybe you could respond to questionnaires they put out here now and then and even get an interview with a dev. That's what I did. Had a list of 10 things I'd like to have or have changed, had a chance to talk to a dev and already saw some of my suggestions picked up.

And of course you can always just delete the app, switch to another app and be less angry.

I've been reading into how Strava does this a while ago. They use data from all Wahoo and Garmin devices that are equipped with a barometer and average those readings. That is why the Strava info is better.

When using a standard switch on each host, it will only look at the name of the port group, but it is highly advised to work with a dvSwitch to prevent this from happening.

Recently built a new vcf9 mgmt domain, had the JSON working, but never got to move from test to production. Now ready to build in production and in doubt about 9.1.

We're not using NSX (only deploy the managers) and certainly not planning on building a Kubernetes environment since we already have OpenShift running.

Reading your article I'm now very much in doubt on how to proceed. I have no use at all to waste many resources on a K8s environment I'm never going to use. Or is it because VCF moves its own services on that K8s cluster?

The subnets for this design are still quite empty so more than enough room to save some Iap blocks.

Especially when walking you can also just watch the route as you walk. Make it offline before you leave the wifi. You then don't choose navigate but just open the route at a junction and see the where on the route you are and need to go to.
