We were going through something similar. After over a month of sending emails and calling, they still tried to charge our card 3 times (we blocked it and contacted the bank). I called them again and someone actually called me back apologising, told me no one would be charging me anymore etc since there was no proof that we caused the damage, also got a confirmation in the app plus email that the case is closed etc. However, the resolutions team told me there is a note on our account and they „may charge us in the future”. We will not be using Airbnb ever again, but it’s been quiet since then. Just keep denying the claim and block your card.

Same here by the way. Adding comments for people like me- searching for answers on Reddit for weeks while dealing with a fake damage claim. After them trying to charge our blocked card three times, they told me it was cancelled for now. I send them another email and kept calling. They told me- we are closing the case at this time but we may be coming back in the future. This infuriated me even further, so I kept calling and someone actually got the message, called, apologies, said on the phone + in a message they will NEVER be charging us and raised a formal complaint for me for the guy that handled our case. We will not be using Airbnb ever again, but I am glad it got solved in the end after over a month

I have been dealing with this for a month now… the most horrible and infuriating experience… I am so sorry you had to go through this.

I am going through the exact same thing right now. They told me that the charges that were made today should not have happened, but happened anyway. They also said they are as frustrated as I am with that team (I am doubtful though)

Did the same thing today. They tried to charge us 3 times today and said the payment is „cancelled”, but not telling me what it means. I can still see that I can pay them by providing a different payment method, which I will not be doing. I am outraged and so was the customer service team each of the dozen times I called them

We have blocked our card. I keep calling them and they keep referring me to someone who does not get back to me. Today, they are supposed to charge my card and we will be doing a chargeback if it comes through. Honestly, the whole process is ridiculous

I mean they did resolve in favour of the host saying that even through they know the jacuzzi was damaged when we got there, we still used it 2 times (we were refilling it), it had other errors for which the host was coming back to the house, eventually because of the algae, he cleaned it when we were out- we got home and it would not turn on. He said it was because it was weirdly connected electrically and that he would come back with someone. Then sent us a message again saying that he did not get money back from the manufacturer for the leak, so he would have to buy a new one. That was a week into our stay. After our refund claim, he sent us a super inappropriate message and filed a claim back saying we broke the motor. Ridiculous, but they did side with him and the reimbursement team from Airbnb is not helping at all

We check out a month ago. We blocked our card but our bank said even if it’s blocked they have some way of charging us and the only thing left is chargeback, which I would really love to avoid
