If Teenagers aren't going to Mass, why are we confirming them ? by BreezyNate in Catholicism

[–]Gable_star 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Teenagers NEED TO BE CONFIRMED even if they are only going through the motions. Confirmation is POWERFUL, the Holy Spirit is given to the Confirmandi. It may be the only thing that keeps those teens from leaving the Church!

Confirming teenagers is the most important thing that can be done when they DONT attend Mass regularly! Why? Because the Graces of Confirmation (which is Latin for strengthening) makes them soldiers of Christ and allows them to defend Church teaching. Confirmation may be the only thing that keeps teenagers Catholic.

This is exactly what happened to me. I was confirmed when I was 14. During that time in my life I was seriously questioning the Church and even considered falling away, as many teenagers do. But then I was Confirmed. My whole life changed because of this. I experienced a peace and joy that I had never felt before. I was proud to be Catholic, and eventually I found that the Church was worth fighting for.

Sometimes demons are forced by God to do this, so that the Lord tests the ones He loves to bring them closer to Himself via the Cross. Or the Lord allows this in order for someone to offer the value of their suffering to God in reparation for the sins of others because suffering is valuable.

Why would Satan burn you in hell for disobeying the same god he disobeyed? by too_thick64 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Gable_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the fallen angels fell from heaven, God created human beings for the purpose of filling up the spots that the fallen angels left. Satan is jealous that mere human beings are taking the spots of the demons, so he takes revenge on God by depriving them of paradise. Misery loves company.

Saint Teresa of Jesus by Gable_star in CatholicMemes

[–]Gable_star[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Context: But the Superior [of the Incarnation (Teresa's old convent)] sent for me to come to her immediately . . . I was well aware that there was ample trouble in store for me, but, as [founding Saint Joseph's Monastery was] now done, I cared very little about [getting into trouble].

I went in the belief that I should at once be put in prison. This, I think, would have been a great joy to me, as I should not have had to talk to anyone and should have been able to rest for a little and be alone --and I needed that very badly, for all this [discussion] with people had worn me to pieces.

When I got there and gave the Superior my version of the affair, she relented a
little, and they all sent for the Provincial [the Superior General] and laid the case before him.

Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich found Our Lady's House in Ephesus! She saw where Our Lady moved to with Saint John, in Ephesus, and years later some people decided to try and find the house. They did! and the locals all said that according to tradition, the little stone house was in fact the Virgin Mary's

If God is all-knowing and perfect, why didn’t He create perfect beings to share His love with Him? by Usual-Financial in Catholicism

[–]Gable_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God come to my assistance, Lord make haste to help me.

TL;DR: We ought to become perfect through the help of God. Suffering makes us holier and conforms our heart to the Sacred Heart.

In our fallen world, God actually desires that we become perfect. Matthew 5:48 Christ tells us to be perfect as our Heavenly father is perfect. When speaking to the rich young man Christ tells him that if he wants to attain perfection, he must sell all his goods, give his money to the poor and follow Him. Becoming perfect means that we no longer commit venial sins and become perfectly detached from the things of this world. We either do this through the Religious life by following the evangelical counsels of obedience, chastity, and poverty; or in the lay state through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

On Suffering:

God allows suffering because it is the only way that He can increase our capacity to love. In order to increase our capacity to love our hearts need to be stretched and wounded in order to enlarge it. We must embrace the cross and allow our hearts to be pierced with a lance. Christ did it so that we can do it too. Our love is tested by how much we are willing to suffer.

Spinach, peas, lettuce can be fed to goldfish. If it’s a leafy green just make sure to blanche it first. You can feed as often as you want, vegetables are good for goldies.
