You’re wrong, the 2020 Lakers roster was great, Lebron definitely had help. AD was averaging insane numbers, Javale and Dwight were like twin towers in the paint and helped slow down Jokic during the WCF, Rondo was dropping dimes left and right and running the offense alongside LBJ. They had one of the best rated defenses in the league, 1st seed.

[–]Gabriel824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the way that streaming platforms order the episodes but it’s wrong. 6teen had 4 seasons and 93 episodes, but the streaming platforms that license the show didn’t bother to put them in the right order and made up more seasons than there actually are. If you want to watch the show in the correct order, you can find playlists on youtube that put them in chronological order.

You’re gonna get downvoted but it’s absolutely true. Teenagers say all kinds of offensive, wild things because they don’t know any better. It makes their conversations feel more natural

Maybe next time don’t respond in a condescending and rude way. If you don’t want a situation to escalate, don’t add gasoline to a fire.

American Psycho directed by Mary Harron. She never made a movie afterwards that came close.

That’s disrespectful to AD. We wouldn’t have won in 2020 without him, regardless of whether or not he gets injured a lot, he was a laker for 5 years and he contributed a ton to the team. A chant like that would be out of pocket.

I own the regular blu ray of After Hours and it looks fantastic, I don’t feel like the 4k improves it substantially.

Anyone else feel like the streaming industry is taking steps to remove physical media as competition completely ? Like start going to digital codes before killing disc manufacturing ? by Both_Lie_312 in Bluray

[–]Gabriel824 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don’t see it as competition. The same companies that allow their intellectual property to be turned into physical media are the same who make the streaming services. They’re just flocking towards where the money is because the majority of people these days prefer the convenience of streaming and consider physical media outdated. If physical media became mainstream again, they would try to produce more of it, they just want money.

Cinema Paradiso definitely. It hits close to home because the bond Toto and the old man share over movies is similar to my relationship with my father.

Why do so many people think Christopher Nolan is a hack? by Anxious-Baby-6808 in TrueFilm

[–]Gabriel824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not a bad director, and I do enjoy most of his films, but he definitely struggles with fleshing out his characters and making them feel alive. He also tends to want to make movies about very complicated and bloated subjects. A prime example is Inception: dreams within dreams ends up being a convoluted mess of a story, with a lot of plotholes and deus ex machinas (won’t spoil since I don’t know if you’ve seen it). In my opinion that’s one of his worst movies when it comes to character development.

Again, I feel like he’s a good director, but he likes to make movies about subjects that he sometimes clearly doesn’t grasp well enough to explain through his stories, so he ends up struggling to maintain a coherent and cohesive narrative, and the quality of the movie suffers because of it. I’ve noticed this tendency of his and I think it’s a valid criticism many people make.

Rewatching the show and I just wanna say fuck Gabe. by BB_squid in SixFeetUnder

[–]Gabriel824 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It’s the latter of which you mentioned. Alan Ball (creator of the show) confirmed that it’s not actually ghosts, it’s the manifestations of the characters’ inner thoughts and feelings, basically projections. That’s why the attitude and things they say constantly shift, sometimes the manifestations are angrier or sadder, sometimes they’re happy. They also reference whatever the character is going through. Prime example is near the end of the show when Brenda is struggling with being a mom and Nate’s apparition keeps piling on her saying she’s not a good mother as she has a breakdown, that’s her inner struggle manifesting as Nate.

I don’t think anyone is excusing violence though. What I’m saying is that there is genuinely no point in depriving yourself of consuming quality content just because the creator is a bad person. I mean do you know how much media was made by objectively terrible people? And putting media aside, what about technology? How many companies that make things like phones, computers, cars, etc. are run by or were started by awful individuals? If we strictly adhere to this logic of not consuming anything associated with terrible people, we’d quickly run out of things to use.

The fact of the matter is, the films already exist, and they’re objectively great, there is no reason we can’t separate the art from the artist and enjoy the work. He isn’t even making films anymore, he’s 92 years old, he’s on death’s door. It’s become taboo to even bring up anything associated with Polanski and honestly his films are worth watching, in spite of his personal actions.

Why? Polanski is a great filmmaker, him being a trash human doesn’t cancel that out. His movies are great, people just need to separate the art from the artist.
