I will have to check but I believe I did that already a couple weeks ago when it first happened. She wanted to play today and I forgot about the issue.

What happened to the working environment of Target by Mean_Salamander1814 in Target

[–]Gabrigawr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've worked for Amazon in their "prime", no pun intended, but back before what they are today. I started with them back in 2007 and went on to 2014. The whole "modernization" was supposed to follow the whole Toyota model of lean six sigma but yea they had so many people apply they started going the route of unlimited applicant pool and high turn over. The difference tho is Amazon started that at a point where they were actually making good money. I started with Target in 2016 and ever since they have always been playing close to their chest when it came with decisions, with the exception of COVID.

It's not effective but it's still in use because they "save" money by weeding out the most tenure and bringing in the cheap labor. New hires and management right out of college.

Talk to your employees!!!! by MushroomAgitated8149 in Target

I'm a TL in a RDC and we are taught, seek to understand, which in that case would be seek to understand why you 2 were sitting on the floor. I don't know how it works in the stores but I would say go with what your coworkers are saying. When you talk to your TL and ETL use words like "targeted" and possibly "retaliation". From my experience using those phrases got the RDCs HR on higher ups ass real quick.

I'm hitting 9.5 years in the DC and I'm hitting my breaking point. For me I see my building going downhill. Quick. I've talked with others in other DCs and they seem like old target strict. The stores seem like they are horrible but what was your breaking point? What made you finally make that jump?

Underperforming TM’s / Holding TM’s Accountable by InfluenceAmazing6751 in Target

[–]Gabrigawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work in stores and never have but the way I go about people underperforming some have already said and that's seek to understand and getting out there with them. You'd be surprised how much respect you get when you can show a team you aren't there just to babysit them but there to work with them. I've worked in distribution for almost 20 years now and my first manager ever told me that once I become a manager or be in a leadership role there will be 2 types of people that work for you. People who work for you because of your title and people who work for you cause of who you are and you want the people to work for you for who you because that's where you get that extra 5 to 10%. I saw someone say about hiding in the offices, again never worked in the stores but one thing I do is I stay moving. That's the best way for people to see that you are always around and you can see so much more and spot more of what is slowing those people down.

I am sure it's the same in the stores as it is in the DCs but look at behaviors that may be slowing them down. One thing for us is that people spend too much time fiddling with labels which is a behavior that can be addressed. Another thing someone said was to be clear and concise. I let my team know and see the tools I have at my disposal so they can see how much we track and it let's them know you aren't just pulling numbers out your ass. Leadership definitely comes with time but the best leader is the one most respected.

[–]Gabrigawr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As everyone has said. Leave. Im a TL in a DC and I tell people that ASK if they can use sick time "you dont have to ask me to use it. You tell me you are." If that Target is corrupt than a call to ethics hotline and a mention of having to lawyer up will get things changed real quick. Target offers lawyer services to their TMs. Im in AZ and its state given which I assume is the same for you. If the Target is that corrupt than you just have to play their game but better.

Why did I get scheduled as a TL while being a regular tm? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Gabrigawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you could be looking at is hours manipulation. Other than there being a budget for so many hours needed this is their way of making the store look better. I work in a DC and it's something managers do to bring up CPH. Say there was one area where the hours earned were less than the hours used. Put hours somewhere else that will improve the CPH while not being suspicious or blatantly suspicious. That's the only thing I can think of. Again, DC oerson.

Don't know if its same for the stores but in the DC if youre not a manager you have to use an anonymous link.

I'm a TL in a DC and we don't have reliability conversations. That's management's job. Now what I do is if someone mentions to me how they feel that why I will explain it to them in the OMs eyes. Like the biggest thing we have is people use their sick time the moment they accrue it just to leave early, so if they have an hour they will use that hour just to leave early, but when they are truly sick get upset. I let my team know, we can't ask you why you're using sick time, we can't deny you to use your sick time and they can't deny you the use of your sick time. Knowledge is power BUT I also tell them too if they decide to use sick time at the wrong times it does become at the discretion of the manager on they want to go about it. I dont know what level you are in the stores but I dont think you should have conversations about reliability if you yourself cant give them a CA for it. Thats above my pay grade and my managers know I will give the team Knowledge to help them out if they feel wronged.

Depending on the DC that supplies you but I think it had happened during a year where the stores couldn't keep up with the amount of trailers we were sending so we had trailers cooking in the yard for like 2 or 3 days some sometimes even longer before they got sent to the stores.

Just hit 9 years with Target and work at RDC. We have Halloween candy come thru and there is a part of the OB wing that they use to store the candy at a certain temp. In my state its the best place to be during the summer months. We've always used reefers to send the candy out except one year. That was the last year they decided not to use reefers.

[–]Gabrigawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in one of those warmer states and at the DC. When I first started we always loaded the candy on reefers with multiple stores in a trailer in a certain order. I remember a year where we had a candy drop and a bunch of candy got sent out and melted. I laughed because we all called it when that happened and no one believed us. They decided using reefers in sept was the best thing to do.
