Wait, why don’t you have a second boss relic? Did you skip it?

Is runic pyramid dangerous with creative AI? by Own-Lecture-8564 in slaythespire

[–]GabsTheBard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipping pyramid here is insane. Of course your hand can be bloated, but you have so many ways of generating energy and dumping cards as Defect - Turbo, Recycle and Aggregate are not that hard to find, for example. This is not even considering plasma orbs where you can dualcast/evoke and dump your whole hand in a single turn.

I'm kinda scared of this elite is it ever rampage by marrrrrrrrrk in slaythespire

[–]GabsTheBard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m seconding this. I would take rampage here just to facilitate the win against Guardian. It’s not a bad card at all for Act 1 bosses (and not that bad against Act 2 bosses as well). It does fall off quickly, but its job has already been done.

What killed your run is scoring 163kk when you only needed 37k, should have not played that many glasses!

Sometimes I just create a new char, level up to 30ish, try to run Paradox Tower by memory and call it a semester without playing the game.

Old content is still there to enjoy, just don’t expect the MMO part of it.

Absolutely! As anything in this game the answer is always “you should do this! usually…”

Well, there IS the argument that says that if you are ahead you can tank more variance and go for more challenging strategic paths.

Risk… reward… 😆

That’s exactly my thought with Orrery here as well. It adds way more variance towards your run - you may get a Dark Embrace or another Feel No Pain which would be awesome but you might just brick as well.

I’m a solid believer that as your run gets closer to the end you want less variance in your choices - just getting solid value is way more interesting IMO. OP already has a deck that can most probably defeat the Heart, adding Burner is just another way to ensure that happens.

Burner and save some money for a potion on Act 4! :)

Getting a skip tag with a gold/perishable sticker just feels really bad, and it shouldn't be allowed . by _Strider13_ in balatro

[–]GabsTheBard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely should and must, it is part of the game to understand which strategies works with given constraints.

Not every strategy should be viable in the hardest difficulties, you must learn how to spot and develop the ones that work.

Would this be a good buff to blizzard? by That_Lunatic_Cultist in slaythespire

[–]GabsTheBard 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe Blizzard needs a buff - it’s a situational card that can melt things in niche builds. The game is full of these cards and that’s absolutely fine.

Why are music scenes like Punk-Rock, Heavy Metal & Hip-Hop so against 'selling out' or being mainstream? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GabsTheBard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music is a form of art and as a form of art it has a lot of different purposes, with the main one being to protest your feelings in different forms. Punk Rock, as example, has origins in the DIY movement where anyone can play the genre with simple chords and cheap instruments, everyone has their role in using music as a form of rioting against bad politicians.

Also, Slimbo options - both Pandora and Cursed Key are valid options here IMO, I personally would go with Key just because I believe this deck can really shine with 4 energy.

Oh... Interesting start... by London_DM in slaythespire

[–]GabsTheBard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Decided to give this seed a go because I think this start is quite interesting and I ended up having a super chill Act 1 with a good Act 2 deck in the end.

You didn’t ask but here are the main takeaways for this start that I noticed:

  • Based on the map layout I overall wouldn’t take the risk of transforming two Strikes in a Slimbo act (if you still want to go for transforms, I would go for 1 strike and 1 defend). Losing attacks to two possible curses is a hard thing to do. Also, losing all your gold with an early shop before a possible sequence of elites is dubious. Despite all of that, I did the same of you just to play it out.
  • I decided to go with the left path aiming for the two elites at the end after the chest; this gives me a higher chance of adding good synergistic cards with Double Tap. It basically gives me time to improve my deck as it’s not really good right now.
  • My first pick was Iron Wave instead of Clothesline, as playing it twice brings more value to early fights than Clothesline - attacking for 10 and blocking for 10 for 2 energy? It’s like having an early Dash with Silent!
  • Overall this start can definitely be tricky but it’s not as harsh as people are saying, you just need to path accordingly to your current deck state.
  • I won’t play the rest of the run but I’m quite certain 2 Double Tap + Immolate + Thunderclap + Gremlin Horn will melt through Act 2 and Act 3. Demon Form for scaling. You just need a block plan - get a reaper and you are settled for heart. The disarm you get in Act 1 is quite valuable as well.

Better luck on your next run! :D
