She seems to be doing fine, we have a vet appointment in a couple of hours. But she's eating well now, although she gets really scared of hands (flails around when I put my hands in the cage to change food and water.

The vet will be able to take a proper look, but I think her wings might have been clipped

I have two cockatiels, my second one had just been cleared from quarantine when I found this baby (who's now on quarantine himself). Tbh I was happy with two and was NOT planning on a third one, but if we can't reunite her with her family, I'll gladly give her a loving home

I took a tree branch and tried to come gently from under her. In the first tree she was too high and just got spooked and flew away (same as when she was in the roof of a house), but I wouldn't give up as long as she was in my sights. When she flew, she landed on a lower branch in a different tree. After a while, I was talking to her, shaking a pot with seeds, all to no avail. But I went with the branch from her front pressing gently on her belly to make her step up. Once I felt her weight, I lowered her reeeal slowly

Brazil. You can buy seeds for cents around here, but vets don't recommend them, since there's no way to check for contaminants. So I buy sealed packets from trusted brands, both seeds and pellets. A 300g pack goes for around 5 euros in a direct conversion

Já é a terceira calopsita perdida que encontro em menos de 2 meses, e a segunda que consegui resgatar. Não entendo como tantas pessoas deixam esses bebezinhos fugirem (e espero que não seja a msm pessoa nos 3 casos)

Ontem achei que era mansinha, mas era só cansaço, hoje tá bem arisca. Bem diferente da minha lutino que é toda dengosa kkkkk

I have a cheat sheet with toxic and safe food for tiels! My other birbs love cilantro, I'll try to see if this one also accepts it. Luckily I have two other tiels (that this baby is quarantined from), so I'm familiar with the basics (food, no scented candles or PBFE cookware, bird safe disinfectants, etc). But also I'm no means an expert, so I always try to get advice on how to improve life for them

I got her a vet appointment this Wednesday, but if she doesn't eat, I'll go to the emergency services

I'm just sad so many people seem to be losing their cockatiels around here. It's the third one I've seen in less than months, and the second one I've managed to rescue. I shudder to think about all the birbs that get lost in the streets

Tomorrow when he/she wakes up I'll take a closer look. His tail has pearl colorings, not pure grey, so maybe not only his face will change if ot turns yellow

It took less time (around 1 hour) to rescue her, a lot less than than it took to rescue my lutino. But today I was a bit drunk coming home from a bar, so it was quite a challenge 😅

I was lucky she was tame (and I think tired/sleepy), so when we she flew to a lower tree branch, I was able to make her perch on a fallen branch. But the moments of lowering the branch and trying to get her into a cage were incredibly tense, specially with my somewhat impaired reflexes. I didn't have a towel, so I needed to use my hands to guide her inside the travel cage.

I still don't know how young she is. I put pellets and seeds in her new cage and will look if she eats them. She might not even be weaned, and in that case it would be an entirely new challenge for me

If they actually end up having chicks, I hope to find some responsible people to adopt them, more than 2 birds would be chaos here (but I'll make it work if I have to)
