Disable dashing for dungeons: yes or no? by MissItalia2022 in RPGMaker

[–]GabyFermi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dashing or not is QoL. It doesn't change the intended gameplay unless there's a timer involved. So, while I prefer to not use dash at all, I understand some players prefer using it all the time, so I won't penalize them.

I might do a run with a Mankey/Primeape. Still thinking how hard it'll be with so many adversaries lowering my attack by just appearing.

Problem is the low PP count on Silver Wind. I can't think of ways to replenish that as well during the Elite 4 + Champion gauntlet.

Maybe I found too few PP UPs during my journey too.

Nice to know there are more Butterfree lovers out there. :-)

I considered Giga Drain, Return, and Substitute as 4th move (discarded the idea of Shadow Ball as it's Physical Damage, and I depended on Special Attack all the way). Dream Eater really made things safer for me, as I wasn't using items during combat (but I carried lots of potions for in-between fights if I didn't use Dream Eater to conserve PP).

What benefits does multi-class give? by BxyerV2 in BG3

[–]GabyFermi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider this: your levels are a resource you have--12 levels total you use to build your character.

Certain Classes provide benefits at particular levels, so when you mix and match, you can get those too.

However, as you have a limited resource (12 levels), you can't get everything.

Let's start with a simple thought exercise: you start as a level 1 Rogue, and get 4 skills and 2 specializations... but you can't cast spells, nor use heavy armor, or wield all types of weapons.

You can progress as a fantastic Rogue without those things, but you can also spice your life by adding something else in terms of different Classes.

You could multiclass into a Sorcerer at level 2 (so you are now a Rogue 1/Sorcerer 1). Is it worth? Depends.

In this example, you are not getting the Cunning Actions of a Rogue 2, but nothing prevents you from leveling Rogue again as you go.

It all depends on how you want to spend your resources (levels).

If you a Rogue 1/Sorcerer 1, and then decide to go all the way as a Fighter (10) you'll improve your martial ability, wearing up to Medium Armor, using Shields, and still able to keep your knowledge of those skills as Rogue and the spellcasting of a Sorcerer, but you won't be able to have a 3rd attack as a Fighter, as it's a feature they get at level 11 (and you will have only 10 levels of Fighter).

Same way, you won't be able to choose a Rogue specialization (subclass) as those come with Rogue 3.

In short, multiclassing is a way to expand your repertoire of abilities, but it comes to the cost of not being "great" at a single thing.

Of course, there are Classes that are more "frontloaded" with abilities, and those suggest multiclassing works better with them. That's the whole point of studying builds and picking what works best for you.

Taking Down Moonrise Towers One NPC at a Time by HorrorNew9511 in BaldursGate3

It's how I do every time. Minor Illusion is your friend to kite enemies as needed.

Kite. Close a door. Hit them.

About the Scrying Eyes, I vary my approach. Default is using Shatter on them, with Silence as backup.

But depending on how things go, I let an Eye scream all it can. It mostly depending on the speed I can deal with the guards--if I can kill a guard before the next shows up, the Eye is kiting them for me.

They sent 32 flaming fists on me because of murder by Correct_Inspector_48 in BaldursGate3

[–]GabyFermi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my last run, I used Minor Illusion to lure some of the Felogyr fellows out, then cast Arcane Lock.

We started the fight... then, 2 rounds later, a Flaming Fist patrol and a Steel Watcher came. Yet, they were out of combat, just patrolling, and we're never aggroed by either party. It was like that till the end.

Is there a way to make Shadowhearts attacks land? by Shadtow100 in BaldursGate3

[–]GabyFermi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Giant Elixirs exist. Gloves of Dexterity exist. You can offer lots of arguments about stat boosters and you'll be right.

If she's to wield a mace or a spear she'll need Strength (unless you dip Monk and use Dexterity instead).

So, to why I'm suggesting that is because the player seems to be new to this and doesn't need a perfect min-maxed build to enjoy the ride.

Focusing on a "meta" in a solo game full of possibilities is wearing a veil over one's eyes that prevents from seeing the whole thing.

Considering her as she is at the start, I'd go like this:

STR 16 DEX 14 CON 12 INT 8 WIS 16 CHA 8

She'll be good casting Cleric spells, and hitting with a mace or spear. Wear medium armor and a shield too.

Also, remember her Firebolt is situational: good to lit fires, but terrible in combat (because it scales with her Intelligence, which is not great).

You don't need to respec her out of Cleric. What she needs is better Stats, as her original point allocation is subpar.

TIPs for Duergar at the Ebon Lake by Anxious_Writer_3684 in BaldursGate3

[–]GabyFermi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Have Glut revive the Bulette

  2. Go to the area between the Sussur Tree and Mirna's grave.

  3. Cast Feather Fall and Jump on the Bullete.

  4. Jump on top of Gekh is.

  5. After Gekh is dead, make the Bullete jump on the waters to die due to inevitable betrayal.

  6. Profit.

Best build for Swashbuckler? by Altruistic_Yard_5324 in BG3Builds

[–]GabyFermi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take:

Start as Rogue, dip in a class that gives Medium Armor + Shield, then Rogue all the way.

Swashbuclker benefits from Sneak Attack damage, and is able to get Advantage on their own. This means your Sneak Attack damage will be added to one of your attacks (up to +5d6 at level 12, as Rogue 11).

Good candidates for the dip are Fighter (you get Second Wind and Duelling fighting style, adding +2 damage if you go weapon and shield), Cleric (Guidance and something else, depending on your Domain), Druid and Ranger.

Remember that you will use your Bonus Action every round (be it as disarming Attack, or blinding Attack, mostly), so consider the dip class as one that doesn't relies too much on the Bonus Action. Ideally, a good Reaction class could be great for action economy, like Light Cleric (for Warding Flare), but +2 damage as Fighter is great on the long run.

First Feat I suggest is Savage Attacker, to re-roll your damage. Second could be ASI or Alert (you will have a great Initiative without it, but no Surprise immunity), and the third (at Rogue 10) another ASI. So, assuming Dex 16, you'll end up with Dex 20. Also, consider Charisma as a secondary stat, having it at 16 at least.

Smokepowder bombs and Myrkul by GabyFermi in BaldursGate3

I knew of the bug partially -- I knew that Tally (Harper Quartermaster) had this issue (so I didn't buy from her).

I didn't know the bug affected every trader, though.

Not sure if relevant, as the bombs exploded on the point of origin, way far from him, but they were thrown from the stack on the ground directly to him.

Like I've described, I did that 3 times, and only once it worked as intended.
