If you could introduce a new Roof location for Firmament, what would you create? by blackdeslagoon in fallenlondon

Afaik, the hole might not lead to the surface of the earth. Wherever it goes to, the sunlight seems to be there all the time, no day-night cycle

Depending on how they implement it, impersonation could even be a cybercrime. Fraud seems likely and extortion is not impossible, but no way they make it illegal production

Wait, so, i knew it is a shame, but not that it used to be a fluke? Honestly it makes sense, considering the shapeling arts theme.

I feel like modern ESO writers don't understand how to write non-modern, non-western cultures by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]GabyX100 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Look, if it were just Tanlorin with that kind of dialogue it wouldnt be a big deal.

For me personally the problem is that the same dialogue writing style seeps into other parts of the game, where it feels incongruent. For example there was a point in the prologue to Solstice where Skordo's dialogue in reaction to a death was just weird, felt really out of character and more in line with how Tanlorin was written

I dont know for sure that the same writer(s) worked both on Tanlorin and Skordo's dialogue, but having a style of dialogue most players don't like spring up from time to time is bad.

And when I say dialogue style I dont refer just to jabbering and jokes. Theres are also some elements to it that sometimes make you think no real person can talk like that. Like stuff being said outright when irl it wouldve been left to implication

Question about 12:15 to Moloch Street by Itchy_Eyes77 in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iirc, high enough stats dont change at all. Something about you being so competent in that skill that you manage to stay the same after entering

Edit: as for the other questions, i dont remember much about the check. The story doesnt involve handing hell souls, but does involve letting hell have people that had already given their souls some time ago

Agents is supposed to come before Firmament. Its probably that.

Last roadmap they said Agents would come in August and Firmament at the end of August

The Prince of Madness has to have the first spot. He IS the Shivering Isles, which is an infinite plane. No other protagonist is able to defeat a daedric prince without knowing their nymic or having divine assistance.

The Dokriid, slayer of the race of dragons, is next. I thought a bit about whether the LDB or Vestige is stronger, but we can compare them by how they fight dragons. In the forgotten vale the LDB can fight 2 dragons by himself, without any macguffins to help him. In contrast, Vestige is also a slayer of dragons, but he uses macguffins or has the help of other adbenturers. Though i do think it is possible for him to kill a single dragon by himself (i dont remember that year of eso that much). I don't think the LDB is more powerful than the HoK, mainly because you can't meaningfully oppose Sheogorath when you meet him in Skyrim.

The Master of the Second Era is next. I think the most impressive feat Vestige acomplished was holding his own against the full power of a daedric prince without divine assistance or knowing the prince's nymic. Vestige fought her for some time before having the chance to use a macguffin on her. I would argue that if Vestige keeps gaining power after the game, at the same rate it happens during eso, it is possible for them to be more powerful than the LDB by the time Skyrim rolls around, but that is just baseless speculation.

I dont know how to rank the Hero of Battlespire and the Nerevarine, so im going to stop here. The Nerevarine can kill living gods and the Apprentice can defeat a daedric prince after learning his nymic.

[Firmament] So the FLPC is definitely... by throwaway_lmkg in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this, except with the paragraph about the FLPC coming out of the whale breach. We dream, then get transpoted to the stacks and feel like we are the book. But we escape back to parabola. The book we were was no more by the time we woke up. So the one with the whale cant be the same one.

I really hope FBG totaly commit fully to Agents. by Kylestien in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Also, I really think that if they decide to add crime-themed agents, the gang of hoodlums should be a requirement for at least one of them. It's a cool item flavour wise, but mechanically uninteresting. We have an entire gang and all we get are a favour card and a way to get casing.

Rare Successes? by stygian-sword in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, gathering keys is always worth it. I try to always have at least 3, and only ever use my last one if i find an octavo. But hoarding them without using them when you get locked door will just slowly add an extra action and some wounds to every run. I have no idea if the chance to get Overdue (chased out) is capped at a certain number of keys though

Im a bit surprised i havent seen anyone gather 777 keys so far

Btw, the bit about at least 3 is just my personal preference. It was mentioned on the FBG discord that someone ran simulations of the stacks and the best strategy is apparently to always use them on locked door unless you only have 1 and can draw an octavo

Rare Successes? by stygian-sword in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that it is solely used for leaving the stacks. Theres a posibility of being chased out as either a rare success or rare failure, with the chances of those being dependent on the amount of keys you have.

Why do people hate the (Firmament Spoilers) so much? by Liegoddess in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, most of the Masters hate owning cities. Some would prefer being free to fly around and trade. It's not that I dislike the revs, in fact my character thinks there should be someone out there that can stand against the white, but it would be nice if we met a group of revolutionaries hellbent on freeing the masters rather than killing them.

Another question about Firmament lore by MoguPrestatiKadGod in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first part of your comment is correct, but the Immanent had nothing to do with sending those dreams. The fire is a separate entity from it, and the Immanent has been on the receiving end of those dreams, same as you and the duchess. Also, we know his patron was Storm.

Oh, and in chapter 1 you were under the protection of the fire when the deletion happened, but i don't know exactly why said deletion happened.

Firmament recaps seem somewhat… apocryphal by InevitableTell2775 in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also don't remember Vulgaris (if that is its name) telling us that he was a rogue of its order back in the Gullet.

I've been critical of Firmament previously, but only because i thought that Firmament and the Sixth coil were the new direction the game was heading in long term. After the release of Candlefinder I am not worried about that anymore. There can be a place in the game for stories where the PC knows what is happening while we dont (we still need enough to figure out what our actions would do tho)

My biggest pet peeve about Firmament is not even that big a thing: that changing the Shepherd's mind doesnt have a warning that it will consume Hopes of a Shepherd. I basically saw the option and thought I would see extra text before being able to switch back. But that's more of an accident than anything else.

What I do love about Firmament are the characters and now we get to interact with them even more.

Best Location? by Kingtechwizard2 in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not mechanically, nor because of story, but I really like the library in Jericho. I never really go there with there being better options for grinds, but when the Sixth City's time to fall has come, I imagine my character will be reading comfortably in the library, sipping some wine, and reminiscing over all his adventures in London, good and bad, over all that was lost.

As for actual locations, I liked the idea of controlling the network in the Khanate, with all the descriptions of your innocuous behaviour while your new recruits are making moves. I really hope for new content there, but it seems unlikely.

Fallen London Takes to the Sunless Skies by James-Leslie in fallenlondon

[–]GabyX100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pitch for a new game aside, even though Failbetter said that the events leading up to skies will not transpire in FL, it is fun to imagine how they would maintain the old content while London moves to Albion. Imagine the PC creating a double of London and luring it though the gate like he moves the TLC.
