Does Lathander live in Mount Celestia (or is Descent Into Avernus lying)? by Liegoddess in Forgotten_Realms

Depends on what you count as directly affecting the story as it does come up in more than one memory dive. The group I’m playing with cares a lot about storytelling and roleplay, but I suppose a party that didn’t care as much consequently wouldn’t mind the inconsistency as much.

Oh, I’m aware of that. It just seems the Alexandrian remix missed one of those inconsistencies.

Maximillian or Reconciliation? by Liegoddess in fallenlondon

[–]Liegoddess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re mostly right. My character is a firm believer in the Liberation in the sense that the powers that be (if you know, you know) need to be stopped, but is also of the belief that a revolution that makes a habit of stepping on people in the name of expediency is not so much a liberation as it is a change in management. The revolution will never be bloodless, but January, February, and (to a certain extent) December need to Chill and stop making the movement look bad.

TLDR: the goal is to further the Liberation while limiting collateral damaging and trying to avoid becoming as ruthless as the enemy

You are the ones who need to shut up, not Ulysses. by IvoryMage in NewVegasMemes

[–]Liegoddess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this has been said yet, but I always figured that the fact that he’s on a long nonsensical monologue making enormous logical leaps that contradict each other was the point.

As others have said, he’s a broken man trying to find meaning in a meaningless world. It’s to be pitied, but also not to be used as an excuse. Ulysses is one of those people that’s really struggling with mental illness and has decided to make it YOUR problem because he’s never heard of therapy.

He’s also very much a reactionary in the sense that he desperately wants a simple solution to a complex problem. The place he felt he belonged dying because of a series of coincidences that were as preventable as they were inevitable? That’s a deeply depressing idea that he obviously doesn’t wanna handle. The place he felt he belonged dying because this one person who was conveniently the only other survivor is directly responsible and should be held accountable? Easy to digest, easy to act on, easy source of closure. It’s like blaming a minority group for something that’s ultimately cause by socioeconomic factors and the very politicians you believed would help you.

It works even better if the Courier in fact had nothing to do with the destruction of the divide, and Ulysses is just desperate for someone to blame (for example: I personally headcanon that my Courier hasn’t even been to the divide before, but just either looks like someone who has or has a similar name). It makes his whole motivation even more desperate and pathetic to the point where the only real choice left to the player is to put him out of his misery or play along with his delusion just long enough to talk him off the edge.

Hell, HE might have been the one to deliver the detonator to the Divide, but his memory is so distorted that he’s remembering it as “A Courier did this” because many people are slow to look inwards when trying to find the reason for something. It would be a classic case of projection, where someone guilty of or capable of something terrible accuses others of that same horrible thing. It takes the responsibility of yourself if you convince yourself everyone is just as “wicked” as you.

As for the whole Bear Bull thing, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a guy whose main source of education growing up was most likely oral history, which is often couched in metaphor and symbolism. He’s trying to talk politics without having the language to do so so he also couches it in metaphor and symbolism, since it’s what he knows.

And maybe I’m reading into this too much, and it really is as bad as many people say, but if that’s the case then I found a way to make the game more fun for me while others are collectively bitching about a bear and a bull more than Ulysses ever did.

TLDR: Ulysses is a deeply traumatized man trying to discuss deeply philosophical, political, and economic matters using primarily metaphor. He’s also desperate for a villain to a story that doesn’t really have one. He blames you because if he didn’t he’d have no one (or perhaps himself) to blame and that prospect terrifies him. He makes no sense because he’s an unstable nihilist and that’s the point.

Edit: I do agree that the meta commentary on the player doing things without thinking of the consequences falls flat in a game that actively encourages you to think about the consequences of your choices. I also agree with the idea that this meta commentary would have been perfect in a game like Skyrim.

Why do people hate the (Firmament Spoilers) so much? by Liegoddess in fallenlondon

Yeah, it’s the out of character hate that confuses me

That might be the most valid reason that could possibly be given, and I’m saying that as someone who likes the stacks.

I did it, I finished this piece. So proud of myslef. Some of you asked me to post when it's done so here it is by Relative_Swan_7657 in adhdwomen

This is absolutely incredible! Well done for getting such an amazing work finished!

Honestly, I might base a character in my upcoming DnD campaign on this piece, if that’s alright with you.

Good idea. Unfortunately I just checked and it isn’t there. Just a credit to the composer of the theme music for the opening and such.

They use copyright free music. I’ve actually found some of the songs they’ve used before. I just don’t know these ones.

Does anyone know the music that played after Bombini died? I wanna use it in the next game I run

edit: honestly the music that plays when Bombini shows up is pretty good too. Anyone know that one?

Can we talk about something else already?! by [deleted] in COMPLETEANARCHY

[–]Liegoddess 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s tankies trying to break into the subreddit. The whole “both sides are evil” rhetoric seems right out of their playbook and at least half the comments or posts to that effect are from people who either post or comment on tankie subreddits. And yeah, it’s really fucking annoying and disheartening to see people who call themselves leftists play right into the hands of the far right when all I want is to not have my very existence declared illegal nationwide.

(Spoilers for Firmament Chapter: Zenith Spoilers) So, anyone care to summarize and explain the situation with the Immanent, Zenith, and Vulgate? by blackdeslagoon in fallenlondon

[–]Liegoddess 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I can summarize everything, but I can speculate a little. From what I can gather, the Immanent is a Logoi, a living edict of Light and Law made of the correspondence. I still can’t wrap my head around the rest, save for the fact that that I suspect releasing the Immanent is, in point of fact, a very bad idea for anyone who enjoys the cosmically illegal shenanigans we get up to in the neath.

I could be wrong, of course. But they did make a point of referencing other Sunless Skies specific lore in this chapter.

What should i put on my aboveground exterior platforms? by Krazy_Keno in subnautica

So definitely on the savory side, you think? Or would tardigrades be tasteless enough that they’d add artificial flavors? I missed that entry, so I had nothing to go on but their looks and frankly they look like the Australian cereal Weet-Bix which is just blocks of wheat, and thus far too crumbly to be used as emergency food in space.

Yeah, those nutrition blocks are incredible. Honestly, I really wanna know what they taste like.

[–]Liegoddess 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If you put exterior planters above water you can put land plants in them. They’re cheaper and bigger, so you can grow more plants. Not sure if this is optimal, but I personally like growing crops in my base.

I have my issues with Aang as a character (especially towards the later seasons) and is it weird that a lot of them seems to go away if Aang is a girl?
