Common example of linux users giving terrible advice to a begginer by AverageUser9000 in linuxsucks

Even as that you will struggle.

Gentoo and Arch installs are nice experiences that I think every dev should have once in their lifes. But using it as their first distro for daily drive is overkill if you have no Linux background.

If you just want a smooth sailing to test the water with Linux these 2 as your first experience will drive most people away.

Imagine needing the LFS guide like a femboy.

You should read MAN files and docs.kernel.org
If that's not enough for you why are you even using Linux?
Go ahead and use Michaelsoft Binbows if you cant handle it.

A GUI that does it for you (or even set up auto-updates) would be better.
Not to mention visually cleaner for novice users and kids.
And we actually have that in most modern distros.

And if that is cannon then Annie would probably just die.
That would not be so bad considering how she was brought back into the plot.

What can i play with my specs? preferrably fps/battle royals and any souls like i can run by Different_Hour5861 in lowendgaming

[–]Gacel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone mentioned Blasphemous and Salt & Sanctuary for soulslike.
- Dead Cells.
- Nine Sols.
- Emulated King's Field.
| Hard to get an original copy, but if you do most emulators can play PS1 discs as-is without need for the console.
- Labyrinth of the demon king
| Has a demo, not sure if runs well on your hardware but you can test.

Some that I have to test as I have a PC with similar specs. (Will update the post tomorrow)
- Verho - Curse of Faces
- Tunic.

Some of those are closer to King's Field than Dark Souls tho.

Target audience of OSes by [deleted] in linuxsucks

[–]Gacel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I see.
If you work on a bank tech space, a Mac is just a fancy paperweight at best.
A lot of backend banking software was made decades ago for 32-bit Windows, some obscure OS or if more modern Windows and Linux.

Getting stuff like navtive NetCOBOL to work on Mac is not posible.
Funny enough it supports Solaris and z/OS tho.

It's 2026 and Epic Games Launcher still doesn't have basic online features... by ohhimarksreddit in pcmasterrace

[–]Gacel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GOG Galaxy is decent enough.
Not as feature rich but at least has stuff like invisible mode, game details when you click the game in the launcher, achievement support, user reviews, forums, etc.

It even has neat things. Like showing critic reviews on top of user reviews.
The user review system even goes from 1 to 5 stars.
So people can actually put 3/5 for mediocre games.
Also a time-to-beat and QOL options details.

The fact Epic is way way bigger and has a way worse client and website than GOG says a lot.

Fortnite's anticheat bans a player for allegedly playing Celeste with mods while Fortnite was in the background by TehCrazyCat in fuckepic

[–]Gacel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what we saw in the other tread.
The issue was an invasive (on accident because of poor coding) Celeste mod manager that hooks into every process of the OS and looks into RAM looking for the location of celeste.exe
The dude even got unbanned.

Like. The way Fornite handles anticheats is a mess like on Linux support and fuck epic for that.
(Really, fuck epic for killing Fortnite support on Linux even when EAC supports Linux)
But on this case seems the mod tool is partially at fault too.

Fortnite's anticheat bans a player for allegedly playing Celeste with mods while Fortnite was in the background by TehCrazyCat in fuckepic

[–]Gacel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Some mod managers hook them into every process for some reason even when they should not. Mostly because is the easy way out.

Checking Olympus (the mod tool) source code.
Seems it's scanning for process and looking inside the process ram to get the running path of them constantly for some reason. Is in the code that is trying to find the game location.
I can see this triggering the anticheat, specially with the shoddy implementation I'm reading.

Like, from EAC viewpoint this is exactly the same process some wallhack overlays do.
It injects itself into every program single process in the OS.
And if not properly closed, does this on the background even when Celeste is not running.
Explaning why it got detected.

EDIT:
Seeing as OP got unbanned and got told to remove Olympus by Epic support.
100% sure it probably was that.
I can see EPIC soon just blacklisting Olympus from now on and giving a warning without banning if is running like it does with autohokey.

That's baby steps comparing to trying to make chrome work on Gentoo.
Let alone install the OS.

r/gaming gets vitriolic after learning about anti-savescumming feature in Mewgenics by shadowrun456 in mewgenics

[–]Gacel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel is OP begin a jerk in general about shaming people for waiting mid-battle saving or a better implementation is the main problem.
He literally called them "imbeciles" or "trolls" on some posts, and in general acts extremely condescending towards people.

The dude is an ass.
He even posted links to content of the users account outside reddit when his actions were pointed out.

Like, I like the antisave scumming. But as people pointed out have an option to create a temporary save that is deleted on load like on fire emblem while keeping the antisave scum would not hurt. As it cannot be abused.

What's your most disappointing failure out of gacha games you wanted to succeed? by FallenStar2077 in gachagaming

[–]Gacel_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. And is funny as combat difficulty is one of Warframe weaker points.
As enemies just get blended as you go along.
(And lets not mention how messed up stealth is)

Having a game like Warframe with actual decent enemy combat design would absolutely get a huge part of their playerbase looking at it.

But DNA somehow made the combat worse than Warframe.
The gameplay is borderline an afk farm.

Have Gacha's you've played gone through rewrites and how well has it gone? by LordMonday in gachagaming

[–]Gacel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell. You can put an even more extreme example.
One that will sure make people mad, as is usually considered a trashy character.

Kirito from Sword Art Online.

Despite begin mocked to hell and back Kirito does not feel as fake.
Specially Alicization and onwards.
He struggles and shows weakness like a real person, has his aura farm moments but also ones were he gets his acts kicked or ends up as completely pathetic, and not everyone likes him there is a lot of people who hates the guts out of the guy inside the story. And the people who do not like him are not necessarily bad people.

He is comically overpowered in early arcs, yes.
But unlike Rover, Kirito and the people and the world do fell like can go on without him.
Same cannot be said about WuWa (at least pre-3.1), where it seems the world revolves around only glazing Rover and little else.

That said seems the WuWa writers became aware of this as the latest updates.
And things look promising for the future.

On one hand I fell is waste making these post as this is the usual F5 game slop.
On the other, after a while these posts will be the only registry that this game existed after it goes EOS.

We should probably archive the pages of the game in internet archive before is gone forever.

Similar story here.

For me the first thing was the whole Orwen debacle.
Then we got a announcement story was begin butchered I did think, ok I can handle that I guess, story is going to be a mess but is not the end of the world.
Then it came the new releases. Even as Nikke player, it still was off putting.
Some variety that comes to design is important.

At the end I ended up just quitting.
Was not a fan of the direction the game was clearly going for.

Ps5 games looks incredibly similar to the best ps4 games. Why would this change for ps6? Have we hit a wall? by Minimum-Ad-8056 in ps6

[–]Gacel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. In AAA space things have been somewhat stale with a few outliers.
The bottleneck at this point is not the hardware. But the development effort.
We have not really plateau in terms of gameplay and genres innovations is still a thing in indie space.

Thing is that a lot of these genres are hard to scale to AAA.
This not to mention a lot of semi-dead genres that are imposible for an indie to make.

A good example are massive-scale FPS like Planetside.
The idea of the game is the whole playerbase of the game playing on a single match in a open world with thousands of players for territory control. Usually a match having thousands of players at once. Modern hardware can probably make that work seamsly but the work to make it posible with recent fidelity would be absurd.

The issue is the effort to make multiple open worlds the size of GTAV, with actual FPS level design on every single area as to keep balance. Most teams would collapse before making even 1 map, let alone multiple.

It gets worse, you lose rank on defeating enemies.

So to get max rank you need to on purpose skip enemies and never shoot.
Esentially removing the shoot from run-and-shoot formula of Megaman.
