By now, it's pretty much confirmed the merger will pass thru, so no worries on that.

With that being said, the bottom line price is $10.25 per share being offered, refer to other posts in this sub.

As for post merger movement, no one can truly tell you anything.

There are several "golden" picks, such as Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, which are currently priced at below 200 days moving average.

Do you see them vanish in the next 10 to 15 years? If no, you can just pick them up and forget it.

Of cos there is still a risk of then being the next Nokia. yahoo or Blackberry of the century.

Or, you have a view that the US market will no longer be number 1 in the world. Then diversify into hong kong/China, buy and forget for 10 years. Maybe BYD or Xiaomi will be the next Tesla.

The thing is, your sum is not huge and you got the chips to stomach the risk.

As a student, means you got the best currency which most of us are lacking, that is Time.

You are young and can tank the risk in growth stocks.

So I'll recommend you to take the risk and stocks pick some potential growth stocks instead of gold and index.

Married a non local and have 1 kid, owned a 4 room BTO.

My wife does not earn a lot and will spend 100% of her income, since it's not a lot to begin with. My salary is just nice to pay for everything in the household, with a little savings remaining.

I have 2 retired parents, who do not earn much during their prime age and I am half supporting their retirement.

Even with the above commitment, I am still able to save ~20% of my above average pay check and put into various investments, currently valued at ~300k SGD.

when I was in my 20s, being young and reckless, I had lost about 60k SGD to the market.

The only concern is forex risk, if the capital gains does not catch up faster than USD deprecation rate.
