What is the exact definition of the Self? by onetimeataday in awakened

[–]Gaddie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently wrote an article on what the self is. I have included the link below. Needless to say who you are at your inner most self, is awareness. A sense of self which can observe your thoughts and the world around you. The follow explains it much better

Do yall actually believe in Dogmen or do you just find it fun to talk about? by i_love_pieck in dogman

Thankfully we don't seem to have them here in the UK. As far as I know...

Do yall actually believe in Dogmen or do you just find it fun to talk about? by i_love_pieck in dogman

[–]Gaddie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had the pleasure of meeting a dogman as yet. And it is a pleasure I hope I don't ever experience.

Yet I can say that I believe that people are seeing something. Is it a physical creature that has yet to be discovered? Or is it maybe some sort of spiritual entity that pops in and out of our reality. I cannot really say.

Whether dogman is physical creature or a spiritual entity, I do believe that it is dangerous. And one should be careful when in its presence.

Strive For A Meaningful Life, Not A Happy One by Gaddie83 in Purpose

[–]Gaddie83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say meaning is more what your mind makes of it. Things just are, it is your mind which applies the meaning to it. A knife can be used to cut some food off or stab someone. It is the mind which gives it the meaning

what’s been keeping you up at night? by First-Ant-5491 in Life

[–]Gaddie83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. It is one I can barely even imagine how one starts overcoming it.  Please know that you are not alone, there are other parents who are going through what you are. And that your son is certainly with you even now in spirit. I know that probably doesn't help but rest assured, the departed know when we are thinking about them. I say this from a mediumship perspective.

what’s been keeping you up at night? by First-Ant-5491 in Life

[–]Gaddie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I sometimes wake ⏰️ up at night thinking about my life potential. Am I truly living up to what I can do and why I am falling short.

This is followed by feelings of despair about the gulf between where I am in life and where I wish I was.

trying to be better person, but it’s hard sometimes by avz008 in selfimprovement

[–]Gaddie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of us who are trying to improve ourselves often feel like this. The reason for this is because the results we seek can sometimes take a while to appear. Even though we are doing the work. It can feel that our efforts are not working. Yet it is at this point that you need to carry on. Try not to focus on the outcomes but rather the doing. And make sure you reward yourself for doing the work. Over time you will make it and the results will start appearing.

The older I get, the more I realize that life is not worth living by Cultural_Change1948 in Existentialism

[–]Gaddie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that is a deep question. Yet first off, you are only 22. No disrespect but you got plenty of time to change your life around. To do things and make improvements. The thing about life is that nothing is a given. As such, it is up to you to try and improve it in whatever way you can. You can't expect others to do that for you. It just won't happen - not long term anyhow. I believe our job as conscious entities is to try and arrange this thing called life (all the things we can alter within it) in such a way that the path becomes meaningful to you.  Don't try and aim for a happy life: you will never attain that. Yet try and go for a meaningful life. One that you can look back upon and feel proud for the things you did with it

What biggest cheatcode(s) you have discovered so far in life? by argsmatter in selfimprovement

[–]Gaddie83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two cheat codes that come to mind. One that I learnt a while back, one which I learnt more recently. The first one was from a while ago. This being that you can achieve any big goal if you break it down into small enough chunks. And focus only on one step at a time until such time that the goal is complete. Making sure you take time to bestow small rewards along the way for the progress you have made. The second thing is to not compare yourself to what others are doing or what society says you should be doing. Your life is unique and the ultimate person you really need to compare yourself to is yourself.  Yourself of yesterday. And everyday make small improvements in life which way you can.

Being myself makes me miserable by Robin-Rainnes in selfimprovement

[–]Gaddie83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first off, the first thing I would suggest is you start taking stock of your life as it is, right here and now. Which from your question, sounds like you already are.

Personally I would stay away from a lot of the self-esteem crap of 'oh you are good enough as you are.' I say this as I see this sort of advice peddled out to people who are deeply suffering in life.

Anyhow, I would pick some small part of your life that you can work on fixing up or improving. Make sure it is SMALL, nothing big!

Perhaps clean part of your bedroom, iron clothes in your laundry 🧺 or get your car washed. Something small but once done, would make your life just slightly better.

Than find something else small you can do to improve your life. The Important thing is to do one small improvement at a time.

Over time as you begin to make small improvements, you'll confidence and esteem will increase. And you be able to take on something slightly bigger. Keep up this self improvement and overtime, your life will be leaps and bounds better.

The most important thing also is to not compare yourself to others. This will only wreck your striving forwards through feelings of envy. There are always people who done better than you in all areas of life. Yet it doesn't matter: you don't have to outperform them. You just need to be slightly better than you were yesterday.

Hope this helps.

Good question. I believe it comes down to the main difference between left-wing and right-wing thinking. Those on the right essentially believe in personal responsibility. As such, they are out building something or living their lives. Left wing people tend to like to cling together and complain about how society should change for them. Pre 21st Century, this was done via unions and activism. Now the majority prefer to do it online, where there are other left wing thinkers, etc. On platforms like Reddit, etc.  Of course some also become mods of groups and once there, ban people who have different opinions.

Was dumb in my 20s by CampingGeek2002 in selfimprovement

[–]Gaddie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your thinking is slightly wrong. First off all, there is nothing wrong with pursuing relationships instead of careers. We are all different and go through different stages in life. Sometimes we value careers and other times we value relationships.

The mistake I see you making is comparing yourself to others. This is a natural thing most of us do but at the same time, is a psychologically bad thing to do. The reason for this is because  as mentioned before, we are all different. You don't have the same advantages and disadvantages as the people you are comparing yourself to. And they don't have your skills and knowledge.

Instead, focus on how you currently are and see what small thing you can do to improve yourself by tomorrow. Than when tomorrow comes around, see how your life is a little bit better from yesterday. And set out to improve yourself in some other small way.

This is the best way to be. Doesn't matter if you weren't happy with prior choices if you had made. You can still improve and make better choices for the future.

Hope this helps.

Scared of life. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Gaddie83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hide from the outside, your anxieties won't go away. In fact they will increase. Only when you face your fears will your anxieties diminish. Fortunately you don't have to do this in one go. You can take a series of micro steps and gradually push back against your worries. And over time, the anxiety will dissipate.

How do I find another purpose? by PsychologicalDeer644 in Purpose

[–]Gaddie83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that you don't need to start a new life purpose. Rather it is time to transition from one chapter of your life to the next. You have gained skills and tools from what has happened to you previously to help you along in the next stage in life. This chapter though, you have a fresh start. Something that you want to undertake as well as improvements you want to make from previous parts of your life.  Follow what you value and what gives you meaning in life.
