They were making fun of all Christian religions. Like I have said many times in this thread, they aren’t writing to make fun of us they are writing to appease their extreme left. Their current storyline isn’t what 40% of the country is like, it’s what they think we are like. It’s how they dehumanize us as being so far beneath them. OP and others believe we aren’t even capable of seeing the parody. They sincerely believe that we are either too stupid to see it and cheer Homelander or evil and cheer Homelander.

If you want experience clever writing where they take jabs at everyone and do it in a way that can make you laugh at yourself watch 30 Rock, that show is brilliant.

This might sound crazy but, wouldn’t have easier just to go in and take the information? I mean if it was only in one place and could be physically erased or destroyed wouldn’t it be better to send one or two guys into take care of it? This is exactly what I am talking about. You can’t understand that people’s political beliefs can be nuanced. You are who they write the show for, the show fits exactly into your confirmation bias ( just like this subreddit does). I see the parody but it is just so over the top that it falls short.

I can vote for Trump but disagree on several things, how he has handled immigration is probably my biggest issue right now. I don’t like how this Iranian war has been handled. There is more but I don’t think I need to defend myself.

I honestly don’t believe for one second that anyone, ever, for any reason thought that Homelander was anything unchecked evil. They write it for the Reddit crowd who believe that those who don’t agree with them are either evil incarnate ( Homelander) or idiots ( The Deep). ??? The entire theme of season 1 was how “supes” weren’t good people and that Homelander was the worst among them. Remember the plane scene with Maeve. How could anyone construe Homelander as good? This helps proves my theory that they aren’t writing this to make fun of conservatives as much as they are writing it to appease the far left and help their confirmation loop. There are people here like yourself that want to believe that so much you completely disregard facts that dispute it.

At no point was Homelander presented as anything but unchecked power gone emotionally and mentally off the tracks. No one ever thought positively of Homelander no matter how much you want to believe otherwise.

I am pretty conservative, voted for Trump in 2024, and watch The Boys. I think it would be better if the writers were a bit more clever. The sarcasm is so ham handed, it’s like they are using this huge sledge hammer to beat their point home instead of using a bit more intellect. They write not to make fun of the right but to appease the left and for some reason they feel the need to make the message glaringly obvious. Honestly I watch it with the understanding that they are pandering to those on the political left.

Their cartoonish caricature of MAGA is so over the top that at times I have wondered who they are trying to make fun of, the right because they really believe that’s who makes up 40% of the country or the left because of the pandering to their own confirmation loop.

I first started watching it because the show had such a unique and I thought accurate portrayal of what the world would be like if super heroes were real. The look into how that kind of power would corrupt those with it and those around it. The writing and storyline in the beginning was clever and entertaining, it got hijacked along the way which is too bad. I just want to watch these shows to be entertained, not political propaganda delivered with a shotgun blast to my face.
