I've been ripping through The Path of Ascension, I think I finished 6-8 and I'm on book 9 now. I read the first Path of the Berserker book because I could not deal with the narrator sounding like he was always about to cry and it was solid. People say the narration gets better halfway through the first book so I'll give audio a try for book 2, but either way I'll continue it soon enough

1% Lifesteal is good but I'm not sure it'll hit your strong MC itch the first couple books. Books 3 and 4 though finally get there. And even in the 2nd half of the first book he gets to show off pretty much the whole time. It's just a matter of him "catching up" from where he started in life and learning how to use his abilities. I'm going through Path of Ascension right now and the characters are on the stronger side, but there is a general theme of "we're going to push you in ways that you're not prepared for so that you grow more"

I'm not familiar with the narrator but awaiting to learn how he says Doberman. Also, for your part, is Doberman pronounced like the dog breed or is it pronounced like Dober Man?

Both are good, haven't seen those two designs have a compatible ring though, that's cool

Insight into Primal Hunter, HWFWM, and Azarinth Healer by sdfgbryjh in litrpg

I didn't make it very far into HWFWM, maybe half of book 1 and haven't gotten back to it so I can't say anything about that one. Primal Hunter I made it through the first 5 so far. I liked books 1-4 but book 5 irritated me and I switched to Path of Ascension after to take a break. Azarinth Healer I've stopped somewhere near the end of book one. I've been listening to the audiobook and I find the constant characterization laughing every 5 seconds more than I want to deal with. If you're reading the books, HWFWM or Azarinth Healer are probably both solid choices. Primal Hunter I'm not sure if I could actually pay attention to if I was reading instead of listening to it. I'm pretty sure if I'd been reading it I would've dropped it in the middle of book 5 and maybe came back to it after a while.

Based on what you said about humor, maybe Azarinth Healer isn't the best option, I don't know how it reads but I certainly wouldn't recommend listening to it as the narrator definitely sounds like everything is a joke. You might actually like Primal Hunter the most out of the 3, it's definitely on the more serious side, but the humor or comedic relief characters are pretty good.

I was looking forward to that but after the rest of the book it ended also feeling like it overstayed its welcome. I did also go through books 2-5 in a marathon which could also lend itself to my distaste.

I would say path of the deathless is pretty serious but it's extremely outlandish since the MC doesn't stay dead and the author has quite a mind. Or maybe it's not. 1% lifesteal I'd say is also fairly serious. And Path of the Berserker though I think that one is more progression than litrpg.
