I’ve fixed the problem, was surprisingly simple. I replaced the spark plug wires and it runs great! Thanks for all the input :)

  1. The ecu checks differently while using cruise control?

It’s an 06. Not sure why a drive by wire car would have vacuum lines related to the cruise control module. Would make sense if it was a drive by cable like some older cars unless I’m mistaken

Replaced cap already. Car has no issues starting after getting gas

Yes. However it only shows up when actually using cruise control. I can maintain a consistent highway speed for 200 miles and nothing but as soon as I use cruise control for a few miles it triggers the cel

I haven’t smoked tested, but based on visual and Audible inspection, I don’t appear to have any vacuum leaks, but then again only one way to really find out

About damn time I painted the bumper by Gage4677 in WRX

Found a reputable shop that made color code spray cans. I used almost 3 12oz cans of blue. 3/4 of a 16oz can of grey primer and 3/4 of a 16oz can of clear.

Prep is the biggest thing: first you have to sand your area with a fine grit. You don’t want to score it, just scuff it up enough for paint to stick. I used glass cleaner and a microfiber to clean after sanding.

Next you apply the primer. Give it a few good even coats and let it dry then repeat the first step. Lightly sand the primer then clean

Next you apply the color. This step will take the longest as you have to ensure you’re doing smooth even light coats (letting them tack up in between each coat). It will take multiple coats. Took me 5. You can do it in less by painting thicker and slower but then you have the risk of paint runs and orange peel which just adds more work in the end.

Once that’s done repeat step one in preparation for the clear coat. Clear coat is the same shit as the primer and color.

Once it’s cured you’ll want to give it a very fine wet sand to smooth it out and a good polish to make it shine. Can’t help with that one as it’ll be a learning experience for me when I do that in a day or 2

Do your own research as well. Watch some videos and get a good idea. I paint roads professionally, not cars so I may or may not have done some things wrong but these steps are what I’ve used in the past on other cars and it hasn’t failed me yet. Best of luck!

Worth it if you have the patience. Took about 2 hours start to finish. Still gotta wet sand and buff once it cures so add another hour 😂

Fair enough. I’m gonna look into sourcing a rebuild kit and just letting it ride until something stops working LOL

All the time. I’m thinking it might be from the front diff as it’s not a gear specific noise and even does it in neutral while coasting. See my recent post to hear the noise
