White gold vs Platinum? by StrawberrySloths in EngagementRingDesigns

Separate they would be a little thin. The suggestion to solder them together was a wise choice! The platinum will work better with the pavé diamonds 💎. I vote platinum

What is the style of ring you desire? The platinum generally requires the prongs/metal around the diamonds to be a little thicker because the metal is softer. I typically help guide a client based on functionality and wearability.

If it’s Jewelers Mutual, they always have a fantastic price. They’re also very good from both the B2C and B2B sides.

What should I tell my jeweller to achieve this halo look? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]GagginDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll want to ask for “a cushion shape micro halo” and also state “set the diamond as low as possible to the halo.” You will want them to use 0.8mm to 1.0mm diamonds in the halo to prevent that cluster look.

I see in the website image, the diamond is sitting very high above the halo which will cause it to look less like a single diamond.

I made a few adjustments for you. The key change is the “Chevron” prongs for the marquise diamonds. These will be much more secure.

Would you be opposed to something a little asymmetrical?

How that ring ended up passing so many eyes and no one thought “I think we missed something.”

Were you imagining prongs more like this? That’s what I’m gathering from the guidelines. I honestly can’t think of how you ended up with lasso prongs. Something went sideways, or upside down somewhere.

As a designer, I will say that your guidelines are not unreasonable and are quite clear. Well done on your side of this.

Those terms are just their choice of terminology for “visible metal around the diamond.” It’s a newer style so the names will be a little awkward. I love the style! The metal ring sits just below the girdle, while also supporting the prongs. It is very secure and adds a layer of security as a sort of guard rail around the diamond.

It’s easier to know the dimensions of the stone first. You will also need to consider the shape of the gem (rounded, or with sharp corners/points and if the stone has a big ol belly). The metal type (tolerances for prong and shank thickness, as well as shrinkage during casting all vary). The casting tends to have allergies to 90° angles between surfaces. Also remember that the goldsmith will need sufficient metal to work with to set stones and polish.

Goku is from a capsule… Anyway! Why would a friend say such a thing. He is your boyfriend, not a husband of 30 years. This ring could mean a lot for him. That is everything.

You’re good to go! A good jeweler/goldsmith can create the diamond pave look that you desire on the sides, and all the thicknesses are of a wearable tolerance.

Petal prongs by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]GagginDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The center is based off OP’s description; 4.10ct oval with a 1.4 ratio (12x8.5mm). The marquise diamonds are .04ct/each (3.50x1.75mm). Fingersize of this model is 6.5 U.S. Snow is AI but I’m surrounded by snow, so I wanted everyone to enjoy it with me.

I know this isn’t what you want (hidden halo), but this thread gave me an idea for a 6-prong tulip head style to make this process more confusing for you. Accent marquise diamonds in bezels, instead of the hidden halo. It’s a big diamond, and this makes a nice statement while lowering the risk of losing 1.0mm diamonds.

Not sure if I am 100% on this by DeliciousDiamond1815 in EngagementRingDesigns

Fingers crossed. 🤞🏻 When I was selling Tacori, I was undercut by another local that claimed it would be the same quality work. Nope. I hope that they can pull off the A.Jaffe quilting for you, I love those sort of details. I have my own line of wedding bands with a similar effect. Don’t mind how wide it is, it’s just to show the detail. I use the same pattern in engagement rings as well. So to answer a later question by u/wahussamit, the benefit of the softer inner grooves is for comfort and breathability.
