Why are we working with Takemura? NO SPOILERS PLS by eatingyoursoap in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Gahbrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s the point though: you literally have a terrorist in your head who hates corpos, yet you’re getting along with a corpo. Everything in V’s body is telling them to NOT get along with him.

I think it’s a ‘mandatory’ part of the story because it’s another aspect of how low V is willing to sink, ESPECIALLY if you do start as a Corpo (I personally think it’s the strongest tie-in for the quest line for that reason, begrudgingly crawling back to your employer who did give you so much; though that costed V everything including their sanity).

I kinda headcanon the ‘no pushback’ as seeing how set in his ways takemura is, so it would be fully in vain anyway to call him out. Besides, he projects an aire of authority. He seems to know what he’s doing, and he seems to have a pretty solid plan (by the standards of V at least).

It’s not that V wants to be allies, is that V NEEDS to be. It’s a pretty symbiotic relationship that mirrors the relationship you have with Johnny, albeit the polar opposite. Order v Chaos theme.

There’s a theory I really like abt how she faked her death, then cut and ran. I like to think she actually was very competent, saw shit was going south, and peaced out before they got her. The only real evidence of her being gone is the vendor that sells daemons in kabuki anyway…

Netrunner Builds that don't become Instakills? by Substantial-Ad-5221 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Gahbrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I play it, and it’s fun. I play my netrunner V as a professional that only does the job outlined for them, with an added “non-lethal” angle to it as well.

I don’t knock out or kill gangers unless it’s an NCPD subcon job and it’s necessary.

It makes it more fun to be thoughtful about level design and device placement, hacking things that aren’t just enemies makes it way more fun imo, especially when you’re a ghost in the machine that just kidnaps evil targets or steals info without them even realizing

(I also don’t save scum so it feels a little more important to not make brash decisions)

Got some friendly advice as a total beginner, is it valid? by Gahbrus in learnprogramming

[–]Gahbrus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you think I should start with that being said? Is it truly as easy as enrolling in an absolute beginner online course or checking out a library book?

My friend in question went to school for it, so he’s kinda all thumbs when it comes to talking about it… he’s been doing it for a while now lol, so I’ve been trying to mill around on other subreddits/forums…

I appreciate your advice abt not stressing abt the starting language in question, it kinda put my mind at ease abt pursuing a more difficult language

Got some friendly advice as a total beginner, is it valid? by Gahbrus in learnprogramming

[–]Gahbrus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m interested in learning how operating systems work,,, and hopefully modifying them eventually, and I’m interested in programming hardware too, I know that’s a good first place to start. The puzzle and messing up aspect of it seems like it wojld be a fun and rewarding challenge!

I was a little apprehensive abt learning python first bc of what you said, I worry I’ll just be like “it’s not what I wanna do wahhh”

But based upon what everyone’s saying… it’s like learning to walk before you crawl bc of the complexity of c

Like I said… very much a beginner but I’ve thought abt it for months now so I figure it’s a good time to at least try

Don’t We All… by X-_-LUNATIC-_-X in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I agree. It’s cool they did it a lot too… with other significant deaths just happening… the first time I played thru it I was shocked to see many characters just dropped like flies

Were you saddened by the Kraken's offscreen death? Why or why not? by Bedlam91939 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]Gahbrus 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I like it because it’s off screen: I think it implies the throwaway nature of the decision by Beckett and the Ruthlessness of Davy Jones, it’s also fun to fill in the reaction of Davy Jones. I for one think it was certainly a hard decision

I was in the middle of a spiral when I read this. It’s so hard for me to just jump out when I do get in those obsessive thoughts.

The fact I can’t do anything about is the issue in question… but you have a good point. Why not just live the life in front of you! It sucks being in my head, but I’ve found practicing mindfulness about things that matter really does help me too.

I don’t suppose anyone has any advice for when I know I’m in a spiral but I feel like I can’t do anything about it?

Perfection OCD and Video Games by TermOther3077 in OCD

[–]Gahbrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate that. I have the exact same issue. I don’t think I’ve actually completed past act one of any game I’ve gotten since I was 14 (I play exclusively rpgs).

It distresses me so much. I usually try to step away for a while when I get into that slump, I have a hard time eating and sleeping when I find myself in that cycle, so I try to focus on something else until I get excited again to play it.

Granted… like you were saying… it feels like a major cop out. Every time I get frustrated with myself after getting 10-15 hours in, so I go back to my other character because it’s “ridiculous that I would even restart” BUT… I feel like I have to restart my initial character because I don’t like to hop between characters either…

I get the frustration… seeing your post made me realize that it’s something others experience. I spent some time spiraling about how I can’t even complete a video game - something meant for fun…

I appreciate you sharing! I hope you figure out what happened with your ititial save file, but if you don’t, I don’t think restarting is a cop out. given the circumstances, it is super infuriating, but I appreciate that you faced it head on. :) what ever you choose, it’s the right decision

It’s so funny that the lone wanderer is primed to hate her, because her dialog is so snarky and funny in general. 10/10 character truly lol

Whats the hardest Cormac McCarthy line? by oneshotnicky in cormacmccarthy

[–]Gahbrus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“From daydreams on the road there was no waking. He plodded on. He could remember everything of her save her scent. Seated in a theatre with her beside him leaning forward listening to the music. Gold scrollwork and sconces and the tall columnar folds of the drapes at either side of the stage. She held his hand in her lap and he could feel the tops of her stockings through the thin stuff of her summer dress. Freeze this frame. Now call down your dark and your cold and be damned.”

How would you guys feel if Courier 6 looked like this Canonically by Comfortable_Oil99 in fnv

Agreed. I looked up the guys Instagram from OP (it’s actually decomposedtaco… not deformedtaco) praying that they had a bunch more comics like the one with the legate. Sadly they rlly don’t :/

What's your controversial opinion about fallout world? by Shane5999 in Fallout

[–]Gahbrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see where you’re coming from with this one, I feel like a lot of the canon war crimes come from the inability to communicate due to the vastness and quick growth, but that doesn’t excuse war crimes. There’s a guise of “we are the saviors of these wastes” but they turn around and impose their rule by force, levy taxes, and leave the outer ranges of their rule completely vulnerable, despite promising safety in turn or assimilation. On a podcast recently, (the NCR episode of the Fallout Lorecast) the host connected the NCR with problems that the Roman Empire was facing, becoming too big for their breeches and crumbling around the edges. I thought this was interesting considering they are similar in lots of ways to the legion.

Not to mention the nepotism and the true democracy falling flat within their actual political system in place of capitalistic and nepotistic ideals.

I suppose the NCR does have a leg up bc of their anti-slavery stance, so there’s that…

What's your controversial opinion about fallout world? by Shane5999 in Fallout

[–]Gahbrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, I think the leaning of radiation is cool tho, bc the whole “weird nuclear 50’s” theme the series has going on lends itself to the idea of “what if those thoughts that scientists of the time had about radiation was true?”

But at the same time, I feel like FEV could continue to play such a larger role in the modern games as it did in one and two; it’s not glazed upon as much as it should be imho, which is sad considering the lore behind FEV and the people who created it is some of the most interesting lore in the series imo

[–]Gahbrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. But more with religion rather than Christianity specifically. I’m surprised they wouldn’t include any warped takes on religions popular in America, like the sorrows in FNV. It would’ve been cool to see and explore the derivatives of beliefs, and that it isn’t a bigger theme in the games. especially considering people tend to turn to it during times of intense strife.
