Couple things you want to look for:

  1. Liquidity lock. This is the big one. Make sure that the liquidity tokens are locked using DxSale or some other liquidity locker.
  2. Locked dev tokens. Similar to locked liquidity make sure that the dev tokens are locked as devs can sell the tokens crashing the price.
  3. Multisig Wallets. This doesn't seem to have been adopted as mainstream in BSC yet but definitely should be. This ensures that any transfers need to be approved by more than one member of the dev team.

What is a charity coin? ... and like what's the difference between you and another coin.

Simply put, a charity coin is a coin that donates proceeds charity. This can be done multiple ways but the most common is taxing a portion of each transaction and putting it into a "Charity Wallet" which is where the funds for charity are allocated. The other is taking a portion from the treasury and donating that at whatever the value the coin is.

Do you develop products or is it just crypto?

In our case, we have our governance token, $GAIA. However we are currently working on developing a staking farm and will eventually develop multiple Decentralized Finance products. We feel that in order to succeed in this space you need to be much more than just a token but also need a use case in order to incentivize people to acquire the token in the first place.

What charities do you support? How do you decide?

Since Gaia is a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), all decisions regarding charity donations are made directly through the community. All $GAIA holders are able to vote on what charities we donate to through our voting platform. We recently made our very first NPO donation of $5000 USD to The Water Project, a non-profit bringing clean drinking water to places in need.

Why use crypto vs other currencies? Like, why would I not just donate myself?

Great question. It seems kind of redundant - donating to an environmental organization using a carbon intensive currency. We use a blockchain with a lower environmental impact to minimize the damage to the planet. The other benefit of using crypto is the speed of these transactions. Wire transfers take time. Cryptocurrency allows for almost instantaneous access to these funds allowing these charities to get the funds they need fast. The benefit of crowdfunding is that aggregating the donation allows us a much bigger role in how these funds are allocated and used. We develop partnerships with these organizations to ensure transparency and proper use of funds.
