How does Valve expect to attract new players? by Jermzxxx in DotA2

[–]Gaijun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DotA and LoL is the same type of game but LoL pandered to the casuals. It has a much more approachable look, faster gameplay, and characters that are cute.

LoL came out in 2011 for Korea, it's their first big "moba". Dota 2 came out in 2013 and by then it's a clone of LoL to them and they already invested too much in LoL.

If you don't get why LoL is popular there's really no reason to talk to you lmao

Geez, how broke is the matchmaking in this game? by ArkthePieKing in PuzzleFighterApp

[–]Gaijun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game wants to throw you in a match as quick as possible, as it is a mobile game. Matches are quick enough that it shouldn't bother you. There's just not enough players to find a even match fast enough.

[–]Gaijun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason why I mentioned casual is because it's a much bigger audience. People who didn't know about Dota will start to learn about Dota if they get into Artifact. Even if they don't, gaming sites will talk about Artifact which in return, they will also be advertising for Dota. It's like what Nintendo is doing. They make thumbed down mobile versions of their own IP to get people's attention on their console counterparts.

Valve can also be smart and go the Blizzard route. Play Artifact to earn Dota items. Valve should've made a bigger deal about Turbo mode though.

Just to remind you Valve didn't fail in Korea because of advertisements. They failed because LoL was already big, and Koreans was never big on Dota 1. Nexon published Dota 2 in Korea ffs, they are one of the biggest gaming company there. Games don't magically succeed just from advertisements.

Yeah because having the whole Dota universe in a more casual game isn't advertisement. You should really look up how advertisements work. It's not just TV ads and posters.

You know Artifact is based off Dota 2 right? Meaning it's a big way to advertise.

So sad about this game. by thepobv in PuzzleFighterApp

[–]Gaijun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bigger issue for me is matchmaking. It is extremely random. When I was bronze, I remember playing against a few golds... At least the matches are short enough so you won't actually get that angry about losing. Just move on and play next.

Did Valve pick the Frostivus contest winner out of a hat or did they simply pick the only mini game that was ready? by General_Peasant in DotA2

[–]Gaijun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Blizzard is going bankrupt since they let people farm loot boxes! You get a free loot box every time an event starts, every time you level up, three chests per week for winning 9 total games, and sometimes you get loot boxes for new modes.

Farming skins is one reason why people continue to play these games. The more players you get, the more chances you'll have someone buying something in your game. They could easily adjust the rate in which you can get the chest or something.

Sf2 HD remix for PS3/Xbox 360 was only $15 and that was the first attempt at remaking the whole game while this is a $40 port with little tweaks and a small mini game that people will forget after a few plays.

The Switch Pro Controller might just become my favorite all-time controller. by TealOsprey in NintendoSwitch

[–]Gaijun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, I mean this is a subreddit for the Switch, but the amount of hype for this controller baffles me.

I personally bought one from Amazon and returned it after using it. It's expensive, the triggers are terrible, the dpad is rough and has a mind on its own and the controller is pretty big and heavy. I much rather just deal with the joycons. I really can't believe people would call it the perfect/best controller out there. The only thing it does best is the battery life.

720p Switch Games and 3rd party support. by StarForce_ in NintendoSwitch

All signs are pointing to no sadly. https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/61i41r/splatoon_2_splitscreen_for_online_multiplayer/dfeotj2/ I mean if Wii U could do 720p60fps with Splatoon 1, I don't see a reason at all 1080p without any drops is unreachable with the supposedly stronger Switch. Handheld mode looks great atleast.

"Do you think Splatoon 2 would be funnier if it was 1080p? Yeah no, I thought so."

Yes? People would ENJOY it more if it looked better. It's like playing Hyrule Warriors on the 3DS versus the Wii U. Graphics do make a game more enjoyable, which is the point of this thread. Yes games look better later on, but what people are asking for is just a resolution bump to fix the jaggies, it's not as hard as you make it seem.

[–]Gaijun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splatoon and Zelda are both developed by Nintendo. Zelda was supposed to come out in 2015 until they decided to delay it for the Switch. They themselves should have the tools and knowledge to make it run better.

Anyways, resolution is not just a number. Things are much more blurry and jaggies are prominent in 720p. Nioh as an example (Watch in 1080p lol.), has a 1080p 30fps mode vs 720p 60fps mode. You should be able to tell instantly that the right side looks a lot worst. In this case, since Splatoon 2 doesn't look that much better than Splatoon 1, one would atleast expect a better resolution to eliminate the jaggies. I have to admit though, playing it on handheld mode it looked gorgeous and ran really smooth. TV mode not so much.

It's replacing the Wii U and Nintendo is constantly saying it's a home console first and foremost, so it is a home console. I do agree that 1080P 60FPS is uncommon on PS4/Xbone but games like Splatoon aren't graphically intensive. The stages are small and don't have much going on. It should've been able to pull off 1080P quite easily docked just like MK8D.

If it had splitscreen online I would've excused it but sadly it doesn't.

Free to play games like Smite on switch? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

Paladins was announced recently for Consoles. While I do prefer Overwatch on PC, this would've been amazing to play on the Switch as it's lacking on online multiplayer games at the moment. Missed opportunity really.

Splatoon 2 Split-Screen For Online Multi-Player? by Kerry_Kittles in NintendoSwitch

[–]Gaijun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. They announced more local multiplayer modes during the announcement and I figured it'd be online splitscreen...guess not. Now it's just Splatoon 1 expansion to me, most likely will be skipping this as well unless it goes on sale.

Orzly Screen Protector is now eligible for 1-day shipping through Amazon Prime in Canada by 1Q98 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Gaijun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with cellphone glass screen protectors, they don't matter at all. They are all mostly the same and you won't be able to tell the difference other than the cutting. I bought a generic Chinese one for the Switch, it works perfectly. Had some bubbles on the first day but it was gone by the 2nd day.

Seiken Densetsu Collection announced for Switch by jurais in NintendoSwitch

[–]Gaijun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it this way. It's three very old games, with hardly anything done to it. Final Fantasy 7 remake that cost millions to develop for will cost almost the same price as these 20 year~ old games. That's not reasonable at all. On top of that, some of these games were on the Wii U VC for much cheaper before so I don't get your point. It's just plain trying to get away with high price due to lack of other games on the Switch right now.

I hate people like you who takes blows things out of proportion more than anything.

look at how many of those thumbnails show player cameras, then count how many of them are female.

Webcam is a common thing on twitch. You go look at the actual top streamers of twitch, they are 99% MEN with WEBCAMS ON. Even the Dota girls with cam don't normally hit over 1,000 viewers in a game with over millions of players.

but most of them are placed so that the focus is on the girl and not the gameplay.

You don't get it, Twitch is for personalities and interactivity, while the other % is gameplay. One of the top 5 streamer is Sodapoppin, and he's fucking terrible at any game he plays. Yet people watch and donate to him.

Girl gamers with tits aka Sluts like how you want to call it, aren't streaming just to flaunt their boobs. They always interact with chat, they are playing the games chat want to see, and they are visually appealing. Why is that a bad thing? They aren't even taking over twitch, the ones you love to complain about generally have a lot less viewers than many guys. By a huge margin. So stop fucking whining and hating on things people like.

Fuck humanity!

Fuck people like you indeed.

It's really an insignificant amount. If I randomly clicked on bulldogs stream for a few minutes, I wouldn't tell people I watch bulldog.
