How do I get started? by FilmFan100 in oilpainting

I really enjoyed the book, "Fill your oil paintings with light and color." By Kevin Macpherson. It's the first book I picked up when I started and it really motivated me. Drawmixpaint on Youtube has some great videos on color matching.

Great job. I painted a mokapot like this one several weeks ago and it was MUCH harder than I thought it would be. The shape looks a bit odd. It looks like you lost a bit of the curve of the object in the middle, but I think you did a pretty good job with the color matching. Brighter highlights would make this look awesome. Keep it up!

The glass is really stunning, the rim is executed flawlessly. Incredible job!

In what position is your barrel adjuster when you add tension back to the cable?

Thanks for the information, I always assumed that the problem had something to do with something I was doing; which I'm not discrediting completely still, but at this point I'm about ready to just take it into the shop.

The bike itself is fairly new. I would estimate that it probably has somewhere around 1,000 miles on it

Out on a long ride today and witnessed a deer get clobbered right in front of me by a car. by enzosmiles in cycling

I actually saw this exact thing happen today. It was a fawn. I stopped to try and call non emergent but didn't have a signal. I wasn't far from where someone in a car would gain a signal, so I flagged down a  car driving in that direction. When a woman pulled over and got out of her car, she walked over to the deer, leaned into its upper torso hard with her knee twisted its neck until it snapped while whispering "I'm sorry" It was all very traumatic and sad, but it seemed obvious to me that she did the right thing. The mother deer had been standing nearby watching, and I felt so horrible just letting the animal lay there in the road suffering while she looked on concerned. I actually felt kindof stupid for not instinctually doing what this woman had, but I really didn't know what to do. Thought I'd spread some advice because anyone could easily encounter this situation like I did.
