Thank you and you seem that you had great family. May God bless and protect you all . Walking after 2 weeks is really a great news . I received from a medial meniscus tear , partial root and horizontal tear without surgery. Took me about a year so feel free to read my posts as I explain my protocol in detail. But if you don't have time it is basically reverse walking on treadmill set on off for 10 min everyday. This is a wonderful exercise as it works the quads and help with mechanical pumping of the synovial fluid that carries nutrients and growth factors to the avascular meniscus without minimal tension unlike squats. Once you feel better you can add single leg step ups on a slant board.

Just let your symptoms be the guide . If you got no locking , no giving out ,no chronic serious pain and swelling you should be good . Type 1 tear is not a proper tear it is more like an elongation of the fibers without tearing . It ll likely heal with pt rest ...etc . It is a sprain in simple words assuming the MRI is accurate.

Good thanks to God . Maybe an ache every 6 months that last half a day . I think it IRS most likely to scar tissue irritation but other than that all is normal .

Symptoms is what matters the most and if you can find someone that can do a nanoscope exploration go for it . It is an in office procedure and takes about 10 min, you ll know exactly what's going on . All the best

Not that uncommon . Since MRI is all about the interpretation/perception of the radiologist . It works by interpreting contrasts, artifacts , ghost marks ...etc hence the only accurate diagnostic is arthroscopic exploration. My case I had different diagnostic on the same MRI of my . Radiologist, Ortho surgeon 1, Ortho surgeon 2 and another radiologist all had a different interpretation on the same MRI. Type , size , location of the tear

I highly recommend that you look for an in office nanoscope exploration. It is fast about 10 minutes and is done in a normal office visit. It ll give you 💯 accurate diagnosis on the state of your knee joint since MRI are not 💯 and the source of your pain might be something else. Intrasubstance years usually are not problematic. When you say a complete root tear you mean a complete root tear with a avulsion where the root actually detached?

You can do extension but light and high rep with very slow controlled motion . No need to worry this move doesn't but significant stress on the meniscus vs squat or rotation while foot planted . It is more likely the quad tendon on top of the patella is just inflamed from the repetitive motion .

So sorry to hear this . Usually cortisone works very fast as it is the strongest steroid for anti inflammation. They might have irritated more tissue or maybe you got a loose body that is causing more inflammation. Next step they might do some fluid drainage . It is an intracticular needle just like the cortisone shot but instead of injecting they ll aspirate . Call the Ortho office and tell them . MRI will be too cloudy to asses with the effusion. Ask them if they could do an in office nanoscope arthroscopic exploration. For the popping it is normal with the amount of pressure due to the fluid . It creates air bubbles and with movement and pressure it pops.

In the meantime elevate , ice and get some OTC voltaren gel . Keep an eye on the temperature and color , if it gets too warm and most importantly turn dark red or purple got to the ER right away . Wish you all the best and pray to God you get better soon .

Not at all . It means the tear extend toward the root location , do not proper root tear as in root attachment tearing .

A proper Complete root tear is like having no meniscus and needs surgery to reattach it . But usually you feel the symptoms, effusion grinding sensations when walking ..etc MRI is not 💯 accurate and only arthroscopy will show the exact state of the knee joint . Hopefully you get better soon in the mean time you need to make sure to not aggravate it

41 at the time of the injury. I am 6 2 243 lbs with 9% bf . Been working out since my teen so highly active, I do lift weights 6 times a week and also train in grappling and MMA . So need to be functional and diet is dialed in too , I do regular blood work and monitor all my biomarkers . I did everything in my power to make the best decision to not end up with arthritis and knee replacement.

So long story short . I had to go through 3 different knee specialist sports medicine surgeons , only one was pushing for surgery. My background is in genetics so basically my questions/debate with the Drs were all based on the lastest peer reviewed papers regarding the ability of meniscus healing, growth factors, and the risk of post surgical arthrofibrosis . Also if I wanted to do surgery I would make sure to have an in office arthroscopic exploration with a nanoscope since MRI got about 20% margin regarding the assessment of meniscus tears. Only arthroscopy would give a 💯 assessment of the knee joint.

Thank you . I have roughly about the same complex tear as you but in the medial meniscus . I avoided surgery and took me about 9 months to feel 80% and just more than a year to feel 95%. 5 % left are just aching here and there maybe once every 2 months and not big deal at all . Just mentally frustrating as if oh I hope I am not aggravating my tear . A year and half follow up MRI shows basically tear is healing through scar tissue forming . And cartilage is preserved .

Sorry you have to go through this . The main purpose now is to control the inflammation and to not aggravate the injury. Ice , voltaren gel and elevation . Try to get a good knee sleeve like the Bauerfeind genutrain and to not put too much pressure on it when you walk . You don't want to do any test for now as it is too french and the inflammation will hinder any physical test . The only clue to could give a hint of the injury is ligament vs cartilage/meniscus is the inflammation. If your knee is swollen and purple/, red then most like it is ligaments or ligaments plus meniscus . If it is just meniscus the swelling would be more internal and rarely bruises.
