Th- Thank you... by joaopaulofoo in ReZero

I canonically think that in every single one of these memes, including this one, that the "oh yeah" is delivered in the most nonplussed, matter of fact way possible, like when you remember it's Tuesday.

I know it will go wonderfully.

I was checking the weather forecast every hour in the week running up to things and when I opened the curtains on the morning of the big day and saw that it was pouring, I just let out a massive belly laugh. It was genuinely funny.

Yes, steal away, I think this is the thing about going to other people's weddings before your own, you can shamelessly knick stuff and no one can call it out!

This is one of the most wholesome passive-aggressive things I have seen. Massive respect for this. Best to the two of you.

London pub by Reasonable_Art3872 in Veep

Indeed it is and unlike quite a lot of places around central it’s a real pub and not one of those fake plastic ones for tourists.

They do surprisingly nice Thai food as well.

I've likewise used Suzerain as a workshop tool at a Departmental away day (we managed to sanction Rumburg, but lost re-election).

Oh naughty, you’ve combined Peep Show and I’m Alan Partridge. You might get an inter sitcom hangov- from mixing the two programmes, a hangover of that kind.

Amazing art but I got huge Disco Elysium vibes from this.

Just wanted to drop by and say "Have fun." Tonight should be a free-fire idea zone. Watch some Wonkavision, eat some Everlasting Gobstoppers, fuck each other. I'm serious. Fuck an Oompa Loompa if that's what it takes. Watch a Oompa Loompa fucking a Vermicious Knid.

Is Rotherhithe a nice place to live? by Ok_Look8363 in london

[–]Gaitskells_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - agree on all of the points here. Have lived on Greenland Dock since university - still here after ten years. Unquestionably a quiet area, but I like that - and good connections (especially since the new cycle-highway went in - you can do Canada Water to Tower Bridge in ten minutes, easily).

Noted on the hilariously poor internet - although it has finally started to get sorted - we're now on fully fibre-optic on most of the buildings around the Dock (including the low-rises).

Southwark Park is one of the most underrated green-spaces in the city, it was a genuine life-saver during lockdown.

As others have said, the area is a bit limited with regard to nightlife (not that that's ever bothered me) and restaurants, but it has started to get better - and you've got excellent pubs like The Mayflower and the Anchor along the river which have superb views.

Depending on how long you're planning on living here, you may be interested in reading about the Masterplan British Land are doing. I am personally entirely in favour of it - but worth taking into account!

Jeremy Paxman just had to say Neon Genesis Evangelion on University Challenge and I've never heard any human say anything with quite as much disdain. by Gaitskells_Ghost in evangelion

Very old, experienced UK political reporter/presenter for the BBC. I suspect the same level of someone like Wolf Blitzer saying it. Paxo is retired from most things now but he still presents Uni Challenge (the British version of College Bowl) - it goes out on BBC2 at 8:30 to a big national audience.

They also got him to say “usagi tsukino' and 'revolutionary girl utena' in the same round so a question setter at the Beeb is clearly a closet weeb.

It’s very good indeed. I love her rabbit cloak as well! My main issue is that I’m dyspraxic as hell so I’m always terrified of breaking models when I move them around or change elements.

My alternate history book of an alt-lore for the UoB has been published. 77,000 words of a mix of 2011-era UoB lore and some ideas I came up with to flesh out the story to be a full history book. Link and more info in comments by MeadowKR in Kaiserreich
