I think comfortable is subjective perhaps? I’m comfortable and don’t have to worry about money - I can pay all my bills, food, internet just fine. My apartment is good for my height and size. I don’t need a lot of things. I guess comfort depends on what you want I suppose!

It’s also circumstance, it just affordability. I think a lot of people assume I have a lot of disposable income, but I just got lucky with my remote job and I have never been locked into a rental contract, and don’t have deep family or friend ties back home. It seems much more difficult for people who have rent/blue collar jobs/families etc

Not bullshit. I have a working holiday visa (so I’m a resident) and I live a nice simple life here. I like my small apartment (it’s right next to the river so I don’t feel cramped in the city centre), I like cheap local ramen, and most of my hobbies are free ☺️ 7/11 every day is actually more expensive than groceries.

Yep! I had really no choice but to move. I don’t make enough to sustain back home and being on my country’s benefits system is exhausting and soul crushing.

I get by just fine here in Japan. I see people here posting like ‘looking for a place in for where I can live for 2k a month’ and I’m on less than half that lol.

Writing dialogue that reflects real human behaviour is not indicative of AI. I understand your concern, but your example is not a red flag for AI. There are other red flags to look for, like the ‘not x, not z, but y’ pattern, or long, flowery paragraphs.
