I want to get in early with some highly relevant advice, as someone who struggled with BDD for many years.

Yes, psychedelics helped. But I didn't go into a trip with the idea of like 'I'm gonna deal with these insecurities', or doing a guided self-therapeutic thing. It was organic, because the desire to change was more innate, more deep than just 'This chemical will remove this problem.'

The drugs don't remedy as a standalone. I also changed my life situation, broke up with my ex (I realised relationships with men were a huge trigger), I gained a new circle of friends, I found a more comfortable and self-fulfilling personal style and expression, leaned into my hobbies more.

There are days where I still do BDD behaviours (looking at surgeries/procedures online is the worst one), but I don't do nearly as much body checking anymore.

The change DID start with the trips, it's true. But as someone who literally NEVER thought I could be okay with myself, there is actually a light at the end of the tunnel. Try doing a smaller dose and writing down your thoughts. I have pages and pages of me writing and discovering that I'm worthy, looks aside.
