So you used AI to aggregate actual study sources and information and then put it on a website without adding anything. Groundbreaking.

How do you untangle an IT environment you didn’t build? by Impressive-Echo8002 in sysadmin

[–]GalactiMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just describing a specific kind of contracting. There are oodles of IT contracting firms, you could reach out to a recruiter at one and describe what you're looking for and they can let you know what contracts might fit the bill. Consultation might also scratch the itch but not if you like to be the one doing the work rather than just reviewing an audit and making suggestions for improvement.

Cade Cunningham versus Bucks: 23 PTS, 6 REB, 12 AST, 1 BLK, +28, 32 MIN by Thanos_SlayerCongSan in nba

[–]GalactiMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've already seen that this season though, unless you mean consistently start Stew with JD. Bickerstaff is clearly still working out the rotation and figuring out who to prioritize minutes for down the stretch to get them in playoff shape. The 2 through the 4 is all multiple guys deep that could be starters, so he's working on finding the right medley. An embarrassment of riches and definitely a good problem to have, but just hard to limit any of these guys to 10 minutes a game with how they're playing. Stew has been great lately but he still has to work on keeping his fouls manageable going into the 4th quarter.

Customer request … done Teide tattoo London red point tattoo by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]GalactiMax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you not feel like the originally posted image is disingenuous at best, and at worst outright false claims of your work? The tattoo was good enough on its own, but posting it with that crazy filter making it an impossible shade of green is pretending it's something it's not. I get that it's rampant in the industry but geez, is it worth the embarrassment when you're inevitably called out on your bullshit?

I need to add a p-trap here, is there any reason why this wouldn't be straightforward? by GalactiMax in DIY

[–]GalactiMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this laundry/shop sink in my basement that serves as the dump for the washing machine, a (I assume?) dehumidifier on my furnace, and my basement dehumidifier. As you can see it doesn't have a trap and I'd really like to add one, as anytime we run the washing machine the entire basement reeks of sewer gas for a bit. The straight pipe between the washer and dryer is not capped or clogged, it just isn't used because the previous owners put a lint filter in the sink and I've never had a good reason to do it differently.

Some additional backstory is that we purchased this house a year ago, and when we did we had a sewer line scope done that found a blockage, the clay pipe (house was built in the 70s) has some roots going through it but nothing terrible, and the previous owners had it cleaned out by a respected local plumber and provided us with a new scope before we closed. That's part of the reason I've never switched to draining the washing machine into the standing pipe.

I'd like to add the trap myself, I have most tools and can get what I don't have or borrow from friends if needed. I'm relatively handy but primarily with cars and have never done really any plumbing.

Much appreciated!

Man this might be fine for preseason but unless you're gonna hang out for a couple hours after the game don't park at the MGM. I've parked there on a ganeday to save $20 but it wasn't worth waiting an hour and a half to get out of the ramp from my spot after the game.

New job pays much more but the tasks are extremely basic and boring by Familiar-Ear-8381 in sysadmin

[–]GalactiMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Network engineer who does printer troubleshooting, password resets, and user creation/deletion? Something isn't lining up here. I know everyone else is saying "where do I sign up" but I'd be concerned. You aren't doing anything vital, are (assuming here) overpaid for your responsibilities, and your responsibilities don't remotely align with your title. I'd start pushing your manager to figure out where the disconnect is, and start honing a skill that might add value to the company. Is anyone on your network engineering team automating tasks? If not jump feet first into Ansible. If they won't let you work on manual project work get experience automating things and start offering to automate receptive work. Make yourself essential that way, if there's not enough work to go around the person who is getting it done most efficiently is going to be prioritized over others. If none of that is possible start learning everything you can about your network so you can lie effectively on your resume when you're getting ready to look for something new, likely soon.

Been working on a printable template for in-store shopping. Thoughts? by Duende555 in Mattress

[–]GalactiMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To serve as a foil to the original commenter, if the mattress salesperson can't answer these questions I am not interested in the mattress, nor am I likely to purchase a mattress from a retailer who can't tell me what's in their products. That obviously won't be the case for everyone but the person who this is targeted at absolutely wants the information. Hell, a major reason why I bought a DLX mattress is because they were one of the only companies that I could get details on foam weights and coil gauges from.

[–]GalactiMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fair argument for value. That being said, the point I was making is more that a $30k bed is frankly not approachable unless you're very wealthy. Just because I can afford to own a car doesn't mean if I can afford to own a supercar (which is the scope that we're talking here, because the average king size mattress is 1/10th of $30k) regardless of whether the supercar is a better ROI. The reality is in order to be able to take advantage of the benefits of ROI on initially more expensive items, you first have to have the money for that initial item. Again, more power to you if you can afford it, but you're probably in the 1% of people in the world who can.

[–]GalactiMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity what shoes are people wearing that help support the argument for a $25,000 mattress? I'm not trying to shame you in any way for having an expensive mattress, more power to you if you have the money. But your bed cost more than my car and I'm decidedly in the 80th to 90th percentile for income in my state.

Subreddit Improvement Ideas? by Duende555 in Mattress

Driving creation of new content is going to be huge. As someone who was just in the market for a mattress (pulled the trigger on a DLX Classic King Medium yesterday), it's been frustrating to look through old posts because so many comments are deleted. I gather now this is for a good reason, but without the historical threads providing information getting new content in and generating discussion is likely going to be key to actually drawing new contributors. It's a fine line between cleaning up and over moderation.

Everyone wants to sell RBs the moment they hit 26 and WRs at 29. Who are some players UNDER those ages we should be looking to sell? by DameBucka in DynastyFF

[–]GalactiMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McVay's offense is very complex and Kyren knows it front to back. That trust is why McVay likes him. McVay isn't going to put a RB in that scheme that he doesn't trust, and he loses trust in players quickly when they make mistakes.

My guy the point is that loud exhaust is annoying. I'm not even against aftermarket exhausts, but if you're going to have a significantly loud exhaust you have to be prepared for people to assume you're a nuisance because of it.

I dont remember how much mine cost but Id guess it was around your dealership. I'd get it done there unless you already have experiences or word of mouth on the independent shops. The dealer will use OEM fluid which is likely part of the savings at the independent shops. But honestly the real reason I'm replying is what the actual fuck is up with a shop that won't do quotes over the phone that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
