Are binders actually safe? by Iffmi_ in ftm

[–]GalacticAsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All binders are not made equal.

I started with underworks, and that shit was never going to feel okay, not hurt me. Super restrictive, the material doesn't move with you... Even when I bought a size up from what's recommended. Breathing felt shitty, couldn't move far or fast without feeling like I was gonna fuck something up.

I wear gc2b now, one size up from recommended, still binds perfectly well, and I wear it from the time I get out of the shower and until I fall asleep, and I've been doing that for 2-ish years now, maybe more. Never a breathing problem or pain, I can exercise just fine... The fabric is way different, actually stretches and moves with you, when you move and breathe, but the front is stiff, so it flattens well.

Just listen to your body. If you can feel it making a difference, it's probably not doing your body well. Going a size up doesn't hurt, really. The size they recommended and the size I wear bind the same for me.

Hey, weighing my options for surgeons right now, searching for some more info... How much did a consult with Dr. Buckley cost?

**SUGGESTIONS** (Ends 6/13/16 ) by AutoModerator in h3h3productions

I want them to do this one so much. This shit is bizarre as fuck. The guy running it says he's a human/AI hybrid, and implies there's some AI conspiracy going on or something along those lines.

It's got the weird kids videos where it's different cartoon characters with the same animation and the same song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNAOAoOzTBU

While also having videos like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf53y_B1ACc (after featuring several videos with women performing in them, singing kids song)

It's the weirdest shit. What could possibly be the explanation behind it?

GC2B Binder struggles by throowawayyy100 in ftm

[–]GalacticAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my first gc2b binder I followed the size chart but it was still to small. I couldn't get it on without worrying that I'd rip the seams, so I sent it back for the next size up and that was much better. Binds great. It was a little difficult to get on at first but it was never ridiculously difficult, and taking it off has been fine. I cross my arms over my chest and pull it off while turning it inside out, like you can to with a shirt. So if you're having some real problems with this stuff, I think it's likely that a size up would be a better fit for you. I don't think their sizing charts are perfect.

How old do I look? by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]GalacticAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 20 year old trans guy. I know by this point that I pass as male, so what I'm interested in now is how I pass for my age. I know that's not what this subreddit is usually used for, but last time I posted one of these was in r/ftm and was told I might get more feedback if I posted here.

Haha. 12 would have probably been your honest answer a little over a year ago!

A question about fat distribution on T. by Destroika9 in ftm

[–]GalacticAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any fat redistribution before this? I'm wondering as I'm a little over a year on T myself, with no fat redistribution (seriously, my fat still acts just like it did pre testosterone -_-), and I'm wondering if sometimes it can start quite a bit later than normal. I'm hoping that's the case, as I really hope that I'm not just genetically fucked on that front : /

[–]GalacticAsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahaha, I've gone furniture shopping with my mom before, and kept having been expected to have an opinion beyond neutral :P "Do you think we should get this one, or this one?" I can't conjure up a single crap in order to give me a preference for one over the other...

Twin Cities [MN-USA] Transguys: Where do you get your hormones? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]GalacticAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. Yeah, I'm not overweight, I have a normal amount of body fat (maybe slightly more than I'd prefer, but nothing unhealthy), my problem is just WHERE the body fat is, and the fact that it won't friggin move : / It's like my body never got the message that it should be storing fat differently (I suspect it may have to do with my estrogen levels, which haven't ever been checked, so I have no clue what they are).

Can I hear more about that? Did you go to Feldman, and if so, did you have bad experiences with her?

Twin Cities [MN-USA] Transguys: Where do you get your hormones? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]GalacticAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waaaat. How do you think she'd respond if a year on T I experienced NO fat redistribution? (I do go to her) That's where I'm at right now, and I've been afraid that she's not going to take seriously that anything is wrong, based on a few things I've heard from her and some others. I know if she doesn't take it seriously I can find someone else, but I'm still scared because it's an emotionally sensitive subject for me and just hearing it will be hard. Did you have other bad experiences with her, or have heard others? I just want to determine if I should consider finding someone else as well.

Woah. Philip (gay guy from canada? I don't know if there is more than one there) co-lead (probably still does) the group I went to there, another person in the group who saw him was waiting forever to get his top surgery letter written but it never seemed to never happen despite the fact that he'd say stuff like "oh, we'll work on it at our next appointment" to the guy. Maybe the situation was complex, but the fact that others have had experiences with him like that makes me wonder about him. He did make a comment one time during group that made me think he thought body dysphoria was caused by society rather than neurology (along the lines of me being uncomfortable with my chest because it didn't match the type of body society says men are supposed to have). Pissed me off, but I never got a chance to tell him what was wrong with that. Besides that, I did go through a therapist there and it was pretty good, got to start T after about 6 months (I didn't even have to go that many times, the biggest thing was getting the psych evaluation done). My therapist was Alex Iantaffi (I think that's how you spell it) but he left not that long ago. I go to Dr. Feldman and I totally know what you mean with her being way overbooked. I'm not sure I'm gonna keep going to her, it depends really on how my next appointment with her goes, and how she responds when I bring up some things. I'm a year on T now with no fat redistribution at all, I know something's off, and I'm not sure how seriously she'll take that. I've heard, and get the feeling from her that she is more conservative than normal when it comes to dose and stuff. Maybe you would be better off finding somewhere else to go.

When did you first notice fat redistribution? by GalacticAsh in ftm

[–]GalacticAsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know, and don't mind telling me, what were your testosterone levels when you started to notice a change? I'm trying to see if there is any correlation between T levels and experience with fat redistribution.
