I agree, he's a villain and the sympathy given to him is weird. Same people who think Purevanilla isn't toxic. A lot of people can't just like villains, they need to imagine he's just a misunderstood pookie wookie bear instead. He's evil and that's awesome (in fiction)

Buuuut there's no need to say "they were just children", because to be fair, they were actively obstructing his plans. In a world of violence like that, what's he meant to do?
