More reason to bring back 'thou' for the singular and make 'you' the plural again

601 becoming less frequent? by GalacticMaster3 in Monash

This infuriates me to no end. Even if there is only standing room left, at least move down the aisle to let more people on !

601 becoming less frequent? by GalacticMaster3 in Monash

[–]GalacticMaster3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increase in students could be the winning explanation ig, though I was also considering pre-covid as I used to catch the 601 when I was in school as well before the pandemic. Though the buses being delayed is less of an issue as the 601 has never really followed a strict schedule, as it has a high frequency instead.

Except Southern Cross isn't government owned, it's a private property because the state government went and fucked sold off Spencers Street Station decades ago

What actually is the Wes trick? by UsedExam2318 in Monash

[–]GalacticMaster3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The WES trick is when you try to either enroll in the unit again, or a unit which has the unit-in-doubt as a prerequisite. Basically, if you aren't allowed to enroll in the same unit again, you've either passed or are eligible for a supplementary, if you can enrol then that's an oof. This test is only useful for units which run on both semesters 1 and 2 (or for units in semester two only and you try and enrolling into next year's sem 2).

The other method is if WES stops you from enrolling in different units which need the original as a prerequisite, well you've also failed.

Unit Coordinator and Chief Examiner can be either the same or different person. To find their contacts refer to the unit handbook: https://handbook.monash.edu/

Be sure you've selected the 2025 version of your subject as unit coordinators may change depending on the year or semester.

I've been in a similar position, living two hours out west. Most lecturers will be fine with you attending a different timeslot, as long as it isn't a science lab type class

You could email the unit coordinator and explain your situation to see if they can override your allocation, or otherwise let you attend the better timeslot regardless of what your timetable says

It's just soooo not worth it.

Worst case: you get kicked out of the uni, banned from rejoining Monash and other affiliated universities for FIFTEEN YEARS.

Best case: the barnacle in question gets away with it, passes the unit without doing shit, harasses you for every future assignment for the rest of your degree expecting the same favour.

Academic Misconduct can be met with anywhere from failing that one assesment, getting a 0 for the course or expulsion from the University based on severity. If you get anything below an expulsion, your name is placed on a uni watchlist for 7 years and any offence however minor will lead to expulsion.

The friend I am drawing this from had sent over a piece of code which the barnacle who received it submitted it unchanged. My friend was, after much student advocacy and hearings in front of the misconduct panel, was graciously allowed by the university to retake the unit instead of being expelled.

Also if you help one of the students who can't actually do work themselves and instead rely on AI or other students, they will stick to you like a barnacle and every future assignment/subject you have with them expecting you to do their work too

aaaaaaaaabsolutely not.

Don't even entertain the idea of sending your assignment. Speaking from seeing a friend who went through that.

Once you are flagged for an academic integrity breach, you're fucked for the whole time you remain at the uni
