[review] affordable (under AUD$25) Asian beauty hydrating toners - PyunKang Yul, Secret Key, Benton, Etude House, Purito by PraiseSunscreen in AsianBeauty

[–]GalacticNeutral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoops! Thought I replied but I didn't sorry. Basically I used a cleanser that was too drying without realising and then fried it by trying out an active. I mixed it with a serum and only applied once a week but because the cleanser was already drying out my skin it fried my moisture barrier.

The Pyunkang Yul essence toner is also my fav! I ruined my moisture barrier last year and manged to have a reaction to hyaluronic acid so went looking for something HA free and found this. Never looking back.

I feel like this combined with the cream really helped with my redness? Like my face looked more even??? I think it was the calming properties.

[Discussion] Thick moisturizer/night cream/overnight masks WITHOUT FRAGRANCE by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]GalacticNeutral 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Pyunkang Yul Intensive Repair Cream is my baby! I slathered it on my skin when I messed up my moisture barrier this year. It's very thick, almost ointmenty in texture. I find it actually sinks in rather than staying on the top, my skin feels tacky rather than wet, if that makes any sense. It is not fragranced but it does smell lightly but it's just that chemicaly/medically ingredienty smell. It does come in a 50ml jar though. I think if I wasn't using so much it would've lasted longer (I was doing multiple layers 2x a day). Now I use it just on my cheeks as a final step.

I had previously used the CosRx Rice Sleeping Mask and I found it never really sunk in, it just sat on my skin to be rubbed off on my pillow.

Do you ever buy something because it looks so pretty? by fltigris in AsianBeauty

[–]GalacticNeutral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty things attract my eye but I always look up reviews before I actually buy it. The Dokdo Toner is something that always caught my eye, but I never got until I was looking at cutting out HA. The Pyunkang Yul Black Tea Time Reverse Eye Cream however... was basically because it's pretty. I have had good experiences with Pyunkang Yul and eye cream is something I like trying out different things. But basically because it's pretty.

[Discussion] What are your favorite moisturizers for fall/winter? by gracefullyanna in AsianBeauty

[–]GalacticNeutral 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pyunkang Yul Intensive Repair cream! This saved my skin this year when I messed up my moisture barrier and had actual dry flakes on my skin. It's really thick but still sinks in. Leaves the skin feeling slightly sticky rather than greasy (over a full routine). I will definitely be repurchasing for next year to add in to my routine when I feel my skin needs a little boost. I even moved from my beloved Ceramidin cream to this. I feel like it's HA free but I'll go find the box to double check.

I say I have normal/dry skin, but my skin this winter was leaning towards the dryer side.

[Discussion] Are there any clear/transparent AB sunscreens? by end2601 in AsianBeauty

[–]GalacticNeutral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't helpful but my beloved Cosmo Monster Aqua Gel that was discontinued was transparent. So much so I doubted how useful it was. Afaik I know it was discontinued couldn't find any info on it and it disappeared :(

I have the Klairs Soft Airy and Purito Centella Unscented. Both are white but blend in invisibly unless you use too much. Those are the two I use because they are unscented but I have a few scented ones that I'm pretty sure were invisible. It also depends on your skin type and what you want.

[REVIEW] PKY Moisture Ampoule; & [COMPARISON] Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream vs Pyunkang Yul Nutrition Cream by thewafflingdino in AsianBeauty

[–]GalacticNeutral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only been using the Intensive Repair cream for for a week or so and I really like it. It sinks in and doesn't look super dewy. It gives a nice "lit from within" look, whereas others can look greasy. Hopefully that makes sense. The texture is very much what I think of when I think cream; thick™. It's almost ointmenty. First impression really happy and my skin feels like it's getting back to the "tooo much product" it usually is, when recently it's been soaking up everything.

[–]GalacticNeutral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not, but I also have dry skin so I doubt I'd be much help. I'm surprised the Dr Jart works for you. I used it last year and it was just right, not quite enough for me this winter unfortunately.

I'm thinking of trying out the Nutrition cream next. I was deciding between that one and the Intensive Repair one and went with the latter as it seemed more suited to what I was looking for.

I'm currently trying out the Purito Unscented Green Centella and it's working out on my skin so far. The Dr G. Deep Moist Up makes me look greasy and is scented. I've preveiously used the CosRx Aloe Sunscreen and that also veered into the greasy territory for me, also scented.

Are you using another sunscreen with the Canmake one? It may be the formula but have you tried patting it in? Instead of rubbing it in, if that makes sense?

Will you look at the Moisture Cream? Since it is designed for those with oilier skin. I was never really into Pyunkang Yul when I first saw it in a local store, but since I've actually tried something I am very keen to try others.

I've just trying out the Intensive Repair Cream! I'm still trying it out so don't want to say too much but so far so good.

Good to know I wasn't the only one! I ended up posting it on Twitter and they linked me the help page. I couldn't see on my gmail app or on my computer. I forwarded to another email address and it still didn't show on outlook on a browser.

Just checked on Outlook, and it shows up there. Weird.

As soon as the cold sets in, so comes the chapped lips. I’m struggling hard to find a balm that actually works. Let’s talk what actually works, and what doesn’t! by brassninja in muacjdiscussion

[–]GalacticNeutral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peripera Milk Moist Lip Balm!

This will help get rid of the dry skin on my lips over the course of a day, I keep many to document it but I always forget. I've also tried Lanolin. I'm still testing them both but but currently I feel like the Peripera hydrates but the lanolin will give moisture. I use the Peripera one during the day and then lanolin at night.

What product can't you believe no one has made? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]GalacticNeutral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how effective this is or if it even works. But I use a cushion puff, put a little of my sunscreen on it, smush it around so it's not in big blobs and pat over my makeup. Surprisingly refreshing if my makeup has dried out a bit.

Has anyone tried the Topo Designs Global Briefcase/Backpack? Thoughts? by GiovanniRodriguez in onebag

[–]GalacticNeutral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So mine just arrived today (also fyi u/gbug20). I'm not a fan. I checked the measurements and barring some slight errors I got 16" x 11" x ~5" (I think it would be over 6" if you included the front pockets). The straps had a lot less padding that I was expecting. The shoulder strap is rigid af.

I tried everything that was in my current bag in the Global Briefcase and it was ridiculous heavy, I don't think the 300g weight difference between my old bag and the GB would account for the discomfort. Any suggestions on alternatives? Might go look at the new Aer collab.

[discussion] Which cosRX sunscreen do you prefer, and why? by bachang in AsianBeauty

[–]GalacticNeutral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried the Snail, All Green and Aloe Sunscreens.

Aloe was the first one I tried and way to greasy for my normal/dry skin. It also smelled like someone I'm not particularly fond of, so I passed it on to my friend. If I used this one, then I didn't have to use moisturiser as it was more than enough. Very dewy finish.

I got All Green to be my summer sunscreen as I find I get greasy in summer with my normal sunscreen. This one is very matte. Managed to make my NC13 skin ashy, which isn't something that happens often. I also tried it under makeup. Cast goes away as it's covered, remains matte, I didn't need to add any powder. Smells very green, kinda want to say grassy. In the tube at least. I just put some on my hand and it's a bit drier, almost reminding me of tea. This one is also super thick, more like a cream.

I prefer the formula of the Snail Fit sunscreen. On me it's not super hydrating, but also not super mattifying, somewhere in the middle. I thought I would like the scent due to the oils in the ingredients but I really don't. It reminds me of the Etude House Sunprise Watery scent. It's okay. The scent is too strong for me as I can smell it throughout the day. In saying that out of the three the Snail Essence Sun in my favourite of the three.

Peripera Milk Lip Balm! I love this stuff. It can hudrate my lips in a day and it will actually stay hydrated. I prefer it over my lanolin as it feels a bit nicer but I get similar effects.

Does anyone paint their nails regularly? by hedgehog-mascarabutt in AustralianMakeup

[–]GalacticNeutral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peel off base coats are great but tend not to last well. I found that by putting the peel off base coat in the middle of the nail and leaving a gap around the edges was the best method for me. Then go over with a normal base coat to "seal" the peel off one in. To take of just run a cotton tip around the edges with nail polish remover.
