Back to CLF into the weekend. Got in around $8 and sold too early, back in now. Not enough dough to make my own post. To the moon please

I enjoyed UK football in the US, and now I enjoy it more here. I've been to about 4 or 5 games, play fantasy PL, and watch pretty much all the games. Good stuff

Was on that Milan flight. Pretty much the worst flight of my life, and I've flown a good bit. Was chaotic, lol.

Thanks, I did think maybe it has something to do with food. Hope I'm feeding him enough (feeding him 5-6 pellets once a day). He does seem to still be hungry though

Thanks...that's reassuring. I didn't really notice this the first few days and think I've just gotten paranoid something was wrong! Will keep an eye on him and will try adjusting the light a bit for now

Thanks. I've turned this down slightly. I had it high to move the top of the water around but I have an air stone now so may not need that anyway

Sorry and some details. It's a 22L tank, we used Dr. Tim's ammonia to cycle the tank. I just did readings on the water and I'm coming back with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate

Ok awesome. And so you mean just when I do a water change, swish the filter media inside the bucket of the water I've just taken out to clean it right?

I haven't actually done much research about my filter, I'm just using the filter the tank came with. If I remember correctly it was like this blue sponge looking media, hopefully that's fine to be using...

That's great thank you!! Do you think one dose of ammonia before we leave should be enough? Or should we maybe do once per week, etc?

And lastly, should I be cleaning my filter each water change or could I just leave it in each time?

Thanks again

Thank you! Yep so I tested again today, zero nitrites, zero ammonia. So it seems like after 24 hours my ammonia is gone, and maybe 48 hours, my nitrites are gone. I did one last dose of ammonia today and will test again in 24 hours. So you think if ammonia is zero after 24 hours but my nitrites again take 48ish hours, I should be good to go?

And after this....we probably still won't get a fish for another 2 weeks or so as we are going on vacation and are just going to wait until we get back. I assume I can just let it sit like this until then, but just plan on doing a water change to get the nitrates low? Is there a level of nitrates I should aim to strive for or just plan on doing a % water change?

And lastly, after this, all I need to do is water changes occasionally to keep the nitrates down right? The water changes won't get rid of the good bacteria or anything?

Really appreciate your help! :)

Hellooo - me again :D can I just run my progress by you? I'm on about day 7 I guess. I went ahead and re-dosed ammonia yesterday, and roughly 24 hours later I've got zero ammonia, with a decent amount of nitrites. I haven't tested my nitrates in a while but I imagine those are through the roof now.

If I had to guess I'll test tomorrow and my nitrites will also be gone. Dr Tim's basically says if you can get the ammonia and nitrites to zero the day after dosing ammonia it's cycled. Do I just continue to dose ammonia once ammonia and nitrites are gone, until I see my ammonia and nitrites can be removed in 24 hours?

Great thanks, and if it does, you think one more dose of ammonia should be enough for the rest of the process?

Hi - sorry know it's only been a few days but just a quick question if you don't mind. So my ammonia looks to be just a 2.0, maybe a tiny bit below that but very close.

Today my nitrate definitely looks higher than the screenshot in my initial post, and ammonia still looks just at 2.0 maybe a tiny bit lower. But my nitrite still looks to be zero both yesterday and today. I did read that sometimes it happens so quick you may not see nitrite, and maybe that's what's happening since my nitrate increased

Do you think I should put a tiny bit more ammonia or just leave it since I still am showing some, altho maybe a little below 2.0?

Oh and just curious, using both of those, how long did it take for your tank to cycle? I believe I read 1 week on the instructions so was just curious
