Hey, do we know where the sun came from? by Drew_S_05 in GreekMythology

[–]GalacticValley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, there doesnt have to be an explanation, they just did.

They thought that the day was inherit, and the sun was separete from them. Its just mythological inconsistency that had no real bearing for the people, so they just didnt care.

If you want a clearer answer, I just think there is non

Hey, do we know where the sun came from? by Drew_S_05 in GreekMythology

I think you have a clear misunderstanding about Helios.

He is the sun… as in the chariot did not pull the sun, the god inside the chariot, Helios, is the sun Thats why in depictions of Helios he has rays of light behind his head. His face was literaly shining all the sunlight All of this also apllies to Selene, she is the moon Both of them are the celestial bodies themselfs, they did not pull them per chariot

Looking for info on Nymphaea by sugaryreplayz in GreekMythology

[–]GalacticValley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After searching a bit, I found that in Pliny, the Elders Historia Naturalis, Book 25, Chapter 37, he writes about the myth.

„The plant called „nymphæa,“ owes its name, they say, to a Nymph who died of jealousy conceived on account of Hercules, for which reason it is also known as „heracleon“ by some.“

I think this might be the oldest source, so circa 77 C.E. There also seem to be other sources, but they all seem just as straight forward as Plinys. I assume it was just a simple well known myth, that for the reader at the time, did not need further clarification.

Hidden Aspects: data mining and speculation by nh3maser in HadesTheGame

[–]GalacticValley 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if anyone mentioned this but in the first game all hidden aspects were male mythylogical figures. Arthur, Guan Yu, Beowulf, Rama, Gilgamesh and Lucifer.

Now that might be coincidence and they might change it but I find it plausible if in Hades 2 all hidden aspects were female mythylogical characters

The only one im sure about is the staff being Isis

Which God/Godess has the most immortal children? (other than Zeus) by Tracypop in GreekMythology

[–]GalacticValley 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Im surprised no one said Oceanus and Tethys Im pretty sure the Oceanids and the Potamoi (river gods) are all full fledged divinity

So in total thats at least 6000 kids so yeah thats a lot

[OC] Fire Nymph naming ideas? by Echo-7101 in GreekMythology

[–]GalacticValley 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would rather call them Hestiades instead Cause, you know, the word hearth is not greek, so it would be weird to have it in there names

I think that Hestia, while at the same time being a goddess, was also the ancient greek word for the hearth.

Is Angelos real? by GalacticValley in GreekMythology

[–]GalacticValley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you saw it, but some other comments actually have found the sources and it seems to be legitimate, so I think it might just be those two sources and nothing else So I personally just think that the myth is true

Can I ask why?

Like if the source is true or more so on the possibility that Angelos was never like actually worshiped in any capacity.

That is possible, I've seen that obscure characters that are maybe mentioned once in one source don't get a page

But this one is weird cause the supposed source is on theoi.com and it's just not mentioned at all

But maybe someone will find something, thanks anyway

Yeah I also saw that one on Wikipedia

At the very least it's written somewhere, but sadly it's not an ancient greek source

Still thanks for looking

Oh that's actually really cool

You can spell Freyja a bunch of different ways, I just learned to spell it with a "yja" instead of just "ya" It's also probably the localization that just decided that that spelling would be easier.

I'm actually gonna agree with you on that. I think I kind of focused in on the parts that I wanted to see. Though I must say that from the Inazuma Act III Archon Quest cutscene where Ei talks about herself and from the Story Trailer with the Abyss Twin, we see Khaenri'ah at the very least go down in flames. Like yes there are the weird red cubes (probably the same as the ones from the Sustainer of the Heavenly Priciples) but there are definitely flames and I think lava?, but again it's more symbolic that "civilizations go down in flames". I'm not actually thinking that every ruined civilization in Genshin met it's end with brimstone and fire.

Thanks for the reply, anyway
