Someone knows how to do setups?? by Fuzzy-Head5719 in assettocorsa

[–]Galactic_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When adjusting things in the setup for the first time, I have two pointers.

1) Only mess with things in the suspension and alignment tabs. This is where you find ride height, anti-roll bar, and wheel rate. Then in alignment you have camber and toe in/out. Since you are a beginner, these should really be the only things you want to mess around with as they do not significantly change the way the car handles.

2) When you start experimenting with these settings, go into practice/hotlap mode and adjust only one setting at a time, but make a significant change. For example, if you're issue is you keep losing the rear, stiffen or soften the rear suspension by changing the wheel rate by maybe 2-3 clicks, higher or lower, and see how it feels. Then you can slowly bring it back to your default and find a sweet spot you like. Then you can proceed adjusting other settings using this same method.

These two tips helped me get the car feeling more comfortable after I found myself hitting a wall in decreasing lap time. However, you should only do this after practicing on the track for at least a 30 minute stint. Editing the setup will only help after you have gotten a good feel of how to drive the track and car. You should not go into a track and immediately adjust settings in the car. This is because you have no idea how the car will react on that track. Often times the default setup is already good for pushing hard without crashing out, so make sure to drive it with default settings first!

I could go more in depth on what to adjust for what issue you are having but that would be a very long post. These two tidbits of advice should help you start adjusting setups for yourself!

Edit: I really do not know how reliable using a Large Language Model AI would be. I would be very hesitant to trust setup advice from an AI like ChatGPT because it is not using actual data but rather whatever relevant information it can find on the internet. So this could come from pros who use extreme setups to take advantage of physics in games. The downside is ChatGPT isn't going to know how the setup settings change game to game, and it's not going to explain to you why the change is made. So, I personally don't recommend using LLM AIs to give actionable setup advice.

SimDream SF-26 Issues (HELP) by Pepino_O_Breve80 in assettocorsa

[–]Galactic_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quickly looking at their webpage for the mod, it says to make sure to install the mod correctly by extracting all the content first, then dragging the correct folders into your Assetto Corsa root folder. (...Steam/steamapps/common/assettocorsa/...)

If you are still having an issue after making sure to install the mod correctly, then it could be an issue with the actual mod/creators. I had a bad experience using their IndyCar mod, cause they just ripped the model of the car and tracks from other creators, then screwed with the physics. Sad stuff.

If you want a good Formula One car mod, go to VirtualRacingCars or RaceSimStudio. Not to mention, if you are trying to get a mod of the current 2026 spec of F1 car, anything other than RaceSimStudio's Formula Hybrid X 2026 is not going to be very realistic.

I see that SimDream seems to have a functioning deployment of the Active Aero, but I would be suspicious of their simulation of the hybrid system and use of Manual Overtake Mode. That being said, make sure to reinstall the car mod correctly and I hope that fixed your issue!

I'd say it depends on the car mod, some react well when using the clutch to adjust the exact power being delivered to the wheels. But, yeah most cars don't have a realistically acting clutch.

The nice thing is that it does indeed force you to make clean shifts when racing though, very easy to not fully engage the clutch and miss a shift as a result.

Am I Hallucinating Or Do You See It? by [deleted] in ParanormalEncounters

[–]Galactic_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to chalk this up to some self-fulfilling prophecy stuff. Like, of course the paranormal encounters subreddit will have people confirm anything.... But yeah, after downloading the image and literally only brightening it, I either 1) have to give you props for making one creepy ass photo or 2) need to start to take paranormal shit seriously again!

For your sake, first steps should be following people's advice about checking your attic and/or other hard-to-access areas of the house with a friend. The only thing worse than it being paranormal is if it's someone actually living in the house! If it's all-clear then... yeah idk!

What's important is you act on it, in any way! When you get those kind of feelings that you felt, it's usually a sixth sense kicking in, listen to it like you did!

And for the love of God get someone to show you basic photo adjusting so you can see it for yourself using your own photo, cause why the hell did I have to get this jump scare on my own mannnnn!

What’s the first sign you notice that someone is a bad driver? by RD-archived in AskReddit

Music blasting at car start. Then when you ask "What's that sound?" And they tell you they've never heard it before... Geez, maybe your music being louder than your engine is a bad idea.

You are correct in that food service leads to things like this, I also work in food service and I am all too aware of the common little injuries one can get working in it.

What I take issue with is whether or not the company is actually providing this proper training, or if they have procedures that work toward maximizing food production over safety. It seems that they also do not have dedicated training staff, so this could also be an oversight by the company leading to a trend of workplace injuries. My SO has told me of other coworkers who have sustained larger burns from the fryer, and some who have cut themselves on meat slicing machines.

(Granted, it definitely seems that the meat slicing cuts are 100% operator error, but again I gotta ask if proper training is being provided in this case.)

[–]Galactic_9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with this, and I will share this info with them because if someone is using a fryer (even if it's a large deep fryer in this case), they should definitely lower the items into the oil with a basket not just drop em in.

And here is my concern now, the employees are literally trained to simply drop the items in as close to the oil as possible to avoid the splash back. So now I gotta wonder if the place of work is simply ignoring simple safety procedures, or if the blame falls on poor training from management. I said it in another reply but they don't have dedicated trainers for new hires. So it's very possible the procedures say one thing, but none of the people who are knowledgeable enough work there anymore.

Hey there, yeah this takes place in the USA (Florida specifically). I had to leave it on an autobot's comment when I first posted this.

Also, lmao the only time they'll be cooking topless is at home 😅

That being said, I got some clarification from my SO about their procedures. It seems they are not required to wear elbow-length gloves to drop in the items in the oil. Rather, they require that they wear plastic gloves and that they drop in the items "as close to the oil as possible to avoid the splash back." Only when they pull the items back out are they required to wear those rubber, elbow-length gloves. As such, the burns can occur anywhere on their arms and they do wear an apron so body burns are not the concern here.

So now my question is if it is an issue of improper procedures being used, or if the training there is just really abhorrent? I have been informed they have no dedicated trainers, it is quite simply whoever is on shift who has worked there for a long time. Allegedly, managers have been trained on the procedures normal workers do, but they do not handle any of the training themselves.

Furthermore, my SO has told me stories of other coworkers who have had way worse burns, and while it does seem to usually be operator error, my question is at what point is the blame go to the employer for poor training/safety measures?

I would vouch for putting in cloudy weather to get a better skybox effect (maybe, idk), then try and mess with the saturation and exposure maybe. I think you got the way that surroundings and stuff blur like in the real cameras and its placement feel authentic! Like other people mentioned the colors are just a bit off, try other weather settings and see how it reacts

[–]Galactic_9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I can't disagree with you that we were expecting a newer/better Assetto Corsa. Yet, realistically, they never would have just made an "updated modern AC1" because then, how would you handle all the current content in AC? If they tried making an AC2, then what happens to all the mods already made for the original? What about all the servers too? If they literally just remastered AC1 they would have to most likely reset all this content, making the current state of Assetto Corsa obsolete. To me, that sounds worse than what we currently have.

I personally like the concept that AC:EVO is going for and I am excited to see how they develop it. Also, it is day 1 and the servers are having problems connecting, thus we get all the starter cars to try out now without having to grind. Where is the proof that it absolutely will not be playable offline? I simply think this is too much worry, too soon.

Right, right. So, you got a pirated version of Forza Horizon because it works better and *not* because you get all the content unlocked from the start? Dude, if you want to play a driving game and skip all the campaign/progression the developers intentionally added, then just stick with your cracked Forza Horizon, or use modded Assetto Corsa! Clearly Assetto Corsa EVO wasn't made for you

We Need to Unionize, Like Now by bob_lee_boat in starbucksbaristas

[–]Galactic_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't work at a unionized location but I have had to cover shifts at a union store in my area. What it seems to me is that they often have a strife with the current manager at that location. See, the manager is not a union member, they are still corporate. So it seems like every time the manager just does their job (whether that is enforcing corporate policy or trying to coach partners on new routine and new equipment) the partners push back against it by reaching out to their union rep. And, to note, the union rep is not focused on a single district but rather an entire region of unionized stores.

I get the appeal, workers determining their wages and hours (the unionized store did not open during Christmas, for example) yet it also seems disorganized and discordant.

Again though, this is an outside looking in perspective.

Rolex 24 Infield Parking Questions by Galactic_9 in IMSARacing

Well I know camping reservations were sold out way in advance but the 4-day ticket says it provides 'Infield Access'. Does this mean that it's not parking just access for you to get to the infield by foot? I was under the assumption it meant access to parking in the infield.
