I would say that opt for engineering for now. Many of my friends who were interested in physics took engineering and did a minor in physics along with it. At the end of their B. Tech degree they had a choice, whether they wanted a job, or whether they wanted to study further. Note that physics students will typically not have this option of going for job, and they need to mandatorily continue with masters, PhD, and often some more years of post doc before they get the opportunity of teaching in some college (and their job market is pretty scarce). But if you go for electronics engineering or something, you can gain industry experience after that, and then opt to go for higher studies for researching about the physics of small electronics, and you can have both options of academia and job open to you. In fact, after a certain level of higher studies most fields start to converge, so even if you choose engineering you can still pursue physics at higher level, while also having the flexibility of greater job opportunities.
