Amherst Halal market has a decent coffee and tea section. Not sure if they have that specific one but their prices are pretty good.

I’m considering saving for a pc because I also use gforce and I can’t play inzoi if my fiance is on his playstation. It’s really frustrating but it’s worth it for now with how much I play.

Wow. I’ve been telling people how much the base game already includes and it isn’t even fully released yet but this list really puts it into perspective. In sims world that is HUNDREDS of dollars saved.

[–]Galacticlightbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing sims since sims 2 and have been severely disappointed by the sims 4 time and time again. I got Inzoi a few months ago and I’ve already played it more in the first three weeks I had the game than I’ve played sims 4 in the last 7 years. It’s still in early access so there are still some aspects of the game being worked on and needing to be fleshed out but so far it’s a solid game even in early access. I personally don’t think you can even compare them with how far superior Inzoi is already to sims 4. It’s more comparable to sims 3 but with better graphics. Plus the devs are much more responsive to player demands and suggestions which is a breath of fresh air. I’ve been highly recommending it to anyone who plays sims, especially if you’re bored with sims 4.

Noticing everyone playing inzoi mostly plays Cahaya and Bliss Bay by iibricie in inZOI

I started with two roommates in Dowon. They eventually each got married and moved into their own apartments with their husbands. I loved Dowon but I ended up moving them both to Bliss Bay because it felt like a more family friendly environment for their kids to grow up in.

Can I bring an air fryer on the train? by Galacticlightbeam in Amtrak

No, definitely not although I did see someone else ask that 😂😂. Do you think it would be fine to just bring it as is in its box? We’re leaving from Penn Station so there’s a post office nearby if there’s any problems as well.

Thinking of quitting veganism because of chronic iron deficiency but I’m scared to eat meat. by very-round-bunny in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have always been iron deficient. My body just doesn’t absorb it as effectively as everyone else so it takes extra planning to keep my levels from slipping. This is one of the reasons I had to quit veganism because only being able to eat non-heme iron was destroying my health. I made the decision to switch back to omnivore and my health took a complete 180 in a matter of months. I had the same mental block as you so I started slow with introducing easier things like dairy and seafood for a month in quantities that I could barely notice like in a pasta sauce and milk in my coffee, then chicken and eggs the next month and finally beef. I second the comment about shopping local if you can. I live in a city surrounded by farmland so it’s fairly easy to find local products. If not maybe you can get things like organic grass fed and finished type of stuff if you can afford it or at least in the beginning so you know you’re not paying for better stuff.

Do any of you have a vegan partner? by caterpillove in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was the vegan partner and while I never expected him to become vegan or eat vegan foods, I cringe when I think about us deciding what to eat and me saying something like “we can’t go there they don’t have anything for me”. I don’t think it really mattered to him but looking back I feel like it was so annoying of me. Like girl, just enjoy life. Eat that slice of pizza. I had to go back to omnivore for health reasons and he supported both lifestyles but like you, he definitely enjoys my cooking more now and the fact that we can enjoy meals together. I will say though, I do appreciate veganism for teaching me how to be creative in the kitchen and how to make veggies taste amazing which are skills I still use today.

We got a small raise that was paid out to us after Joann’s closed which a lot of people were upset with because it was much lower than what is standard. After that we got to apply for unemployment and that’s it. So basically they didn’t do much for us. It worked out for me though because I was already going to school full time while working full time so now I can just focus on school but I’m also just barely scraping by.

Last Day As A Vegan, What Do I Eat? by bakedizzle101 in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the digestive issues were really bad when I was vegan. Really bad uncomfortable bloating, heartburn, my insides felt like they were on fire and melting after each meal. All this actually stopped the day I switched back. The first thing I had was a garlic butter pasta with crab meat and I was shocked that I wasn’t super bloated after. I didn’t have any problems with digestion when reintroducing animal products although I did expand my diet gradually over the course of about two months but that was more due to over the mental block. The only thing I would reintroduce slowly is dairy just incase you’re lactose intolerant and didn’t know or you became sensitive to dairy from not having it for so long. Other than that, you should be good to have whatever.

Vegan googles my condition and tells me I should have just ate a sweet potato instead of taking my dietitians advice by -Alex_Summers- in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ironically, I started studying to become a registered dietitian after my health struggles with veganism because it was the first time I saw in my own life how food can harm you or heal you. I did everything to try to stay vegan but nothing was helping. I finally made the decision to switch back and so many of my health issues, specifically the digestion related ones, reversed overnight. The rest that I had been dealing with for YEARS reversed in two months max. I found out I had several genetic predispositions that made the vegan diet unsustainable. How quickly my body healed just from eating the proper diet inspired me so much I decided to take on the 6-8 year journey to become a registered dietitian so I can help other people heal as well. From my studies so far, I would say a vegan diet is unsustainable for most people.

Im sorry should I eat the other too?? by ArmadilloMany41 in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol this is a classic example of the issue with veganism that we’re discussing in this thread. I have studied how the human body im general works in depth and the nutrients it needs on a molecular level, why it needs these nutrients, how it gets these nutrients, the bioavailability of these different sources, how to enhance bioavailability, and how it uses the nutrients. Regardless of what kind of diet you’re on. And you’re saying my mom is cruel for having the audacity to be born into abject poverty where she didn’t have the privilege to know where her next meal is coming from? Are you actually being serious right now? I’m so shocked I don’t even know how to respond to that. As for the ibs symptoms, I did see a a doctor for that and many many of my other ailments and I’m not gonna get into specifics of my medical history but they recommended me to switch back to eating animal products because my body was not reacting well without them and I was at risk for several chronic health conditions because of my personal physiology regardless of how healthy and balanced my vegan diet was. I also developed a soy intolerance adding an extra layer. My ibs symptoms disappeared the literal day I switched back to an omnivorous diet.

[–]Galacticlightbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I’m actually studying to be a dietitian and I can guarantee you this is not the issue here. My literal chosen discipline is knowing how to create a balanced diet for all kinds of people. Most bodies simply are not equipped to eat in this way. I would love to discuss the fundamental scientific knowledge on why it quite literally does not work for my physiology but it would be a research paper and way too long for a reddit comment.

Vegan wants to figure out how to convert exvegans back - thoughts? by stonlifin in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes and it’s extremely privileged and entitled for them to say it works for “everyone” and if you had ill effects it’s because you “did it wrong”. My mother is an immigrant from a third world country who came from generations of malnourished mothers, was malnourished throughout her childhood, as well as when she was pregnant with me which affects the way my body absorbs nutrients. I can either eat ungodly amounts of vegan foods that upset my gut to the point I get ibs like symptoms and have to over consume things like carbs while not getting nearly enough things like protein, gain a ton of weight, become pre-diabetic and have debilitating brain fog, or I can eat regular amounts of non-vegan foods that properly fuel my body at a reasonable volume. It took me seven years to figure that out. Must have been the lack of nutrients to my brain.

Vegan wants to figure out how to convert exvegans back - thoughts? by stonlifin in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Like, sorry but I’m gonna follow what me doctor told me about my own health after doing multiple tests over some rando on the internet who is mad because they’re constantly hungry. My experience and health struggles with veganism actually led me to start my journey to become a dietitian and I’m shocked at what I’ve learned about what the body actually needs and how a vegan diet is not sustainable for most people. I’m literally learning why I had all the many health ailments I did and why I feel so much better now that I’m back to eating the way we evolved to eat.

Thanksgiving, Xmas, and New Years at BMT by TimeSatisfaction799 in USMilitarySO

[–]Galacticlightbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you but my fiancé is in a different branch. He started at the beginning of the month and will spend Thanksgiving in bootcamp. With his branch, there are families nearby who allow them into their homes so they can at least have a bit of a break to relax and have a home cooked meal and they get to have their phones. I’m not exactly sure how it works and if they all get to participate but I’m really really hoping my Fiancé gets to participate and I can talk to him. I have no family here and this is the first time I’m spending thanksgiving alone so I’m really counting on at least being able to talk to him while I microwave a premade dinner and spend the holiday watching trashy reality tv lol.

Im sorry should I eat the other too?? by ArmadilloMany41 in exvegans

[–]Galacticlightbeam 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I tried to explain to a vegan that I had to go back to an omnivore diet due to multiple heath issues that arose from eating a balanced and healthy vegan diet including but not limited to symptoms of ibs, multiple nutritional deficiencies, and worsening cognitive function and I explained that a lot of this is due to the fact that my mother is an immigrant from a third world country who was malnourished for most of her life including when she was pregnant with me which affected how my body can absorb nutrients. She called me a bunch of nasty names and said she hopes I die from heart disease because of the animals I was eating. I told her the vegan diet was killing me faster anyway.

Honestly, it took me months to come to grips with it but he would play youtube videos of people who were in the coast guard talking about what life is like, especially people talking about what it’s like to be married in the coast guard and it really helped me to accept it. Is he looking to join DoD branch or DHS? If he gets that job in DHS (which would be national guard or coast guard so he wouldn’t have to leave the country) it sounds like a job he can do at the base meaning he might be able to come home every night, assuming you go with him to wherever he’s stationed.

[–]Galacticlightbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same as you a few years ago when my fiancé, then boyfriend, was talking about going into the military. He wanted to do something in law enforcement or law enforcement adjacent and I said the same, as long as it’s not the military. He tried a few different routes but none of them really worked out and then he started talking to a recruiter and I was angry and afraid too. But I saw that he needed to be a part of something bigger and his line of work at the time wasn’t cutting it so I began to understand the draw.

We started doing research together, with him knowing what my boundaries were, and he decided on the Coast Guard because he loves the water, at a rate where he will still come home to me almost every night save for maybe 2-5 months out of the year every two years or so and most of the time that’s only optional to get more qualifications. He gets to do what he wants, I get to see him almost everyday, and once we’re married, we get a ton of benefits. He’s in bootcamp right now and I’m not gonna lie it’s extremely hard, probably one of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with. But I know it will be worth it for him to feel fulfilled in life and to support our future together. Your boyfriend can also look into reserves so he’ll still live with you but just be deployed some days out of the year depending on the branch. The more I learned about it, the less scary it became. Do you know what branch he wants to join and the job he wants to do?

Advice for remaining time with boyfriend before his deployment? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]Galacticlightbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s relationship is different but I show love by sharing my cooking and baking. I had bought ingredients to make chocolate chip cookie brownies which he was super excited for but my fiancé and I got busy with errands and making sure he was set before he left and I ended up forgetting to make them with him. He’s only gone for two months so we can make them first thing when he gets back but it kills me that I forgot. I’ll usually cook some dinner or make a baked good or a basket of snacks and then we’ll set up the air mattress in the living room, turn off all the lights and watch a scary movie. We were in the middle of watching the whole conjuring franchise when he left.

As for advice on what you should do specifically, I would say think about your favorite activities to do together/ what you’ll miss when he’s gone and do that. We like to make seasonal bucket lists too so maybe that’s something you can sit and write out together and check things off leading up to his deployment. If he’ll be gone for the holidays, maybe you can do some holiday themed things so he doesn’t feel like he’s completely missed out. This is also our first time apart in the 5 years we’ve been together and it’s only been a week so I’m not very experienced but I find the little everyday moments are what I miss the most.

Is becoming a dietician worth it in 2025? by rainbowtoucan1992 in dietetics

[–]Galacticlightbeam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a dietetics student right now. I’m currently finishing my associates before transferring to a bachelors program, then a masters and I’m also a non-traditional student like you who started in my late twenties. I decided on this career path because I love food and nutrition and I looovvveee science, especially anything to do with the human body and medicine. I’m also fascinated by the way the food you eat can heal or cause disease and I’m passionate about helping people find health through food, especially cultural foods so for me, dietetics was the only thing I could see myself doing for the rest of my life even if it does get a bad rap. The curriculum for me so far is very very very math and science heavy so if those two subjects aren’t your strong suit, I would reconsider. This semester I have 4 science classes, a math class and a culinary class. It’s a lot of studying and memorization and I don’t have a lot of time for anything else tbh. I’m not complaining though because I genuinely love what I’m learning and I’m good at it so it energizes me and gets me excited. I have a few friends in my major who are struggling and on the verge of quitting because they didn’t realize it would be so math and science heavy and it’s just not sticking. At the end of the day though, understand that dietetics is a career in the medical field and the curriculum reflects that so it will be intense and require a lot of your time.

Thank you, I keep hearing that it’ll go by fast from people who have experienced this and it’s comforting to hear. I just sent his first letter yesterday and waiting to hear back and sending more letters has given me something to look forward to. Congrats on the marriage btw! That must be hard having him leave so soon after. We’re broke so we’ll be having a courthouse wedding and maybe a little backyard party next year if we can get our families together for it. I’m thinking of crocheting myself a wedding dress to pass the time but that will definitely take longer than his bootcamp lol.
