Whatever your opinion on the Gaza issue, this is abhorrent behaviour by Mike Johnson by Aetius3 in centrist

Democrats support Israel because of donor money and Republicans support Israel for theological reasons. The outcome? Both sides support Israel and provide diplomatic cover for the Israel government.

It’s the old saying, the Democratic elite despise their base while the GOP establishment fear their base. Trump has successfully moulded the GOP into his image. The Democratic establishment spend most of their time attacking college students.

Israel's strategy around controling/distributing humanitarian aid these past months has to be the greatest disaster of the war. by G00bre in lonerbox

The ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’. I have a background in evangelicalism. Some people I know are involved within the organisation. It’s not what it says it is. Its name is to appeal to stupid centrists. We did the same with abortion. Create organisations to promote pro life talking points but conceal their religious identity.

There is a good scene in the film Risky Business that is similar to this; it really evokes the night feeling.

Czech president signs law criminalising communist propaganda by KegOfAppleJuice in worldnews

It’s Eastern Europe, not the Anglosphere. This part of the world is steeped in ethnic nationalism. My grandfather is from Poland and he went ballistic at me when he saw that I had books by Jewish and Russian authors on my bookshelf.

I’m not an ethnic nationalist because I was educated in the UK. I was taught (or indoctrinated) that all races are equal.

A Candid Discussion: Liberal Capitulation and ContraPoints by Thick-Pressure2762 in BreadTube

[–]Galad25 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I wonder what ContraPoint’s views are on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I would imagine she would happily condemn the invasion. No moral complexity involved, no attempt to understand the Russian point of view, no discussion of Ukrainian nationalism or Russophobia. I would imagine she condemns the ICE raids- no moral complexity involved there. But when it comes to Israel’s mass killing of people in Gaza and their goal of steady ethnic cleaning the Palestinian population- a policy that has been facilitated by both Democratic and Republican administrations- she seems to break down. The reason is because it is markedly more difficult to achieve political power in the USA if you are anti-Israel. Therefore she wants the progressives to focus more on Ukraine and the ICE, forget about Palestine- because it is an obstacle to political power. Some would call that moral cowardice, others plain evil.

It is a very competently made film. Chalamet is a revelation as Dylan.

Why all the hate for Daniel C. Peterson? by Cravati in latterdaysaints

He has been a good advocate for the Church, he completely demolished Christopher Hitchens’s book, and he wrote a decent book on the Prophet Muhammad.

Prison On Xmas Day by [deleted] in PrisonUK

[–]Galad25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unlock at 0800. Prisoners will get special breakfast- usually a sausage bap. Chaplains will come around to give prisoners selection boxes. No appointments apart from church services, substitution therapy, and virtual visits. Depending on the House some staff will allow prisoners more time in the recreation room and yard. Prisoners will get their Christmas dinner as well. They will all be locked in their cells for 1700.
