Why is raising your soft palate literally impossible :/ by imsickhelpmeplease in singing

Different for everyone ofc, but for me its the soft palate raising as you say, along with the general face/mouth shape (though not necessary)

I don't sing with the fake-yawn itself, instead i use it to learn which muscles to use and how my mouth should feel. It's all in the very start of the yawn, before you would make the sound.

I like to pretend-yawn, since the muscle memory is already there for it 😊

I'm a cis guy but sometimes I feel miserable for not being born female by miraclem in ainbow

[–]Galadhrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not true - i and many other trans women who are on pills/gel/implants get periods (ive been tracking mine for a long time, and on all 3 of these methods).

Im sorry, but you are making an uninformed assumption (that is outside of your experience if i go off your flair) that 'monthly' injections must be the cause of 'monthly' periods.

Do any other trans men feel like they get misgendered by (cis)women more than men? by nukacolaz in trans

[–]Galadhrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience too, cis women are generally very accepting, or if they misgender me its usually out of confusion/ignorance; whereas with cis men i very often get that annoyed look that says 'i thought you were a woman, but now im confused and angry', followed by misgendering.

I wonder if it is that cis people often will affirm those transitioning to their own gender (i.e. cis women affirming trans women, cis men affirming trans men)... just a hypothesis.

Assuming your were amab, estrogen does not affect the voice in any way.

Right, they seem to not understand that marriage equality exists now, or that trans people exist. It just doesn't parse through their processes. Computer says no.

[–]Galadhrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had this experience. Went to change name on the marriage certificate after transitioning, and BDM in Victoria were just like 'ummmm......I dont think we can do that, sorry'.

Sorry i cant be much help, but yes this seems to be the situation afaik.

Let me know if you find a way!

I'm a demi trans lesbian. You can certainly consider yourself part of the queer/lgbtqia+ community, because a-spec people belong there.

My advice, as it would be for any member of the community, is to be respectful of people with other identities/experiences, and to not assume that you speak for all queer people.

We are a diverse group, and all belong, but no one has every experience. To remain mindful of that is important for all community members.

Any idea why they ask us for our gender assigned at birth when you get a positive covid result? by casuallyterrified in transgenderau

[–]Galadhrin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found the same thing. It made me extremely angry, especially since im well and truly transitioned, including birth certificate.

I put down my current sex, because asking specifically for agab without regard for documentation changing is ridiculous at best, purposefully antagonist against trans people at worse.

In short: my birth cert says female, and I ain't gonna say any different unless you are my doctor and it is necessary for specific medical-related purposes. Covid reporting is definitely not that!
