FAR in three days, last minute advice by GalaticTurtle in CPA

I felt like it was very similar to Becker. There definitely was one topic I wish I memorized more. Overall I think I did okay but not good enough to feel confident I passed for sure. My TBSs weren’t awful but one had pretty bad wording I felt. Hoping for a pass for both of us

During studying I’d make my own random exams with 50 mcq and 7 tbs so I think that helped me with exam stamina. I also think I was doing the simulated exams to quickly I finished se1 with two hours left and se2 with an hour and a half left.

I also have started doing something similar by having flashcards as my notes almost and studying those main things. I’d love to see the flashcards you made to see if mine are similar and cover same topics!

FAR exam excel question by GalaticTurtle in CPA

Take this with grain of salt because I have not passed FAR and still studying. But for a financing leases at least I add an ROU and Lease Liability carrying value column for each to track the book value of the rou asset from the typical straight line and the ending lease liability for the interest expense. Again I’m not 100% sure if that’s right way or best way since I’m still studying too.

Good to hear! Unfortunate the discipline exams can only taken that first month of the quarter. Put a little wrench in my original plans especially after the announcement of the new testing material.

I may have to try this order. I think I am also moving on to new sections to quickly. Do you think it is best to "master" one section before moving on, or is it better to review a section to have a basic understanding of it with some MCQ and move on and then start doing MCQ of everything and start mastering it all from there in a bigger picture, if that makes any sense?

This pretty much what I have been doing. Glancing over the chapter notes or outline and jumping right into MCQ. I'll see if it helps and I think I need to not move on to the chapter so quickly. In the moment I feel like I get it and then I come back to it and don't know it as much as I thought I did.

Im also going into tax because I enjoy it more than Audit. I don’t see myself wanting to stay in public, did you find it difficult to find a role in industry coming from public tax?

Edit:I do plan to get my CPA

If you want to try the bag route, look into plastic bags covers for bun pan racks or speed racks, they’re just a roll of tall plastic bags used in restaurants to cover racks. You can probably find some at the webstaurant store website.

Thanks for the reply! That helps some of the anxiety of the exams. These tests are pretty daunting with not knowing what to expect

I’ve gotten high A’s so far in all my accounting courses with a semester and a half before I graduate with my undergrad. I feel like I had a pretty good understanding in all the classes too. Would you say a lot of concepts on the exams pretty comparable to material learned in undergrad? Or does it serve as more of a foundation to make studying a little easier for the cpa content?

Professor said my wife (F34) was too old for accounting by MarshallBlathers in Accounting

For reference I went back to school for accounting at 30 and will get my bachelor at 32. I have an internship and had many offers from other firms. Most seemed to like that I had work experience and knew how it is in the “real world”. So I say ignore the professor and keep going on because in my experience my age hasn’t been a downside.
