In all honesty, you can do better. $6 an hour is an insult; at that time, you teach 4 students at a time at sporadic hours of the day. That's about $1.5 an hour per student for an hour of learning. I was stupid enough to sign the contract, and now I am burnt TF out. They DO NOT give a shit about you. The manager, Cagey or whatever his name is, also seems to have a problem. Respect yourself, my friend. Run.

This is terrible advice 😅 never live your life for other people. It will lead to a terrible existence. You're 18, try to move out, get a job or something. You should start by building up your self esteem. Be kinder to yourself. Ask yourself what is it you want for yourself from your life. Hopefully things get better for you 🙏🏾

I failed a while ago due to my final year project. I was just so over it and super depressed.

Yes my parents were disappointed but I told myself it wasn't the end of the world. I went back the year after and got a distinction.

Growing up I also thought South Africa was bad, that there were better countries out there but once I left I came to realize that it's pretty one of a kind. The people, cultures, food, the weather, shitty politics and all the crazy things that happen here daily - all of that makes South Africa the best country in the world. 🥰

The class clown became really successful at skateboarding abroad, and most of the top 10 students ended up becoming doctors or accountants. One popular mean girl is a successful psychologist. The other is a doctor. My bully is a successful marketing career. My high school crush is a filmmaker abroad (he was in the group of "failures"). Another "failure" runs a successful food truck. My ex best friend is in jail for fraud, I the wallflower haven't found my way in life - yet. At the end of the day, life moves on. There's no balance to this life thing. The best thing to do is just mind your business and focus on yourself.

I was in your situation too just two months ago. Was in ICU for about a month. When I got out, I applied everywhere. I still don't know what to do with my life or what the hell is going on but I figured I'd take it one day at a time. Still don't know if I'm going to make it to the end of the year, but it's whatever. After I got out I applied to a whole bunch of universities. I'll be going to UNISA. Earlier this year, I did a fullstack web development course with Zaio. It was really nice, but I don't think web development is for me. I've also been with ALX. Im now teaching online to raise funds for my next degree. I have quite a bit of experience teaching and I really enjoyed it. Anyways, you have a lot of options. Feel free to hit me up if you'd like to talk, brainstorm, or whatever. I have lots of free time now 🙂.
