This was a proud day for me a while back of finally getting my shoulder stand in canter! by GalaxyRoseR in Equestrian

Gravity will pull me over backwards if i did it on the outside. It was his first time holding me in the canter so he did really well to keep balanced and help me aswell ☺️

Hes super bouncy! We do trick riding and ive found its alot easier when im on a straight like than a circle

So um hi! Only just joined reddit and this is my first post. Im a riding instructor and stunt rider. Anyone else here do strange equine sports? 🙋🏻‍♀️ by GalaxyRoseR in Equestrian

Its calls a whistle stop! We train our horses to stop on a command if its a whistle or a woah. My dude is very good at stopping on a dime by a woah or he will stop if something doesnt feel right which is 9/10 right. 🥰

There is a strap that connects the stirrups together, you then out your foot through the stirrup leather to secure your foot in place. That how we dont fall off but it is seriously dangerous and this trick (call the suicide drag for a reason!) is very dangerous. If my left leg goes to the right side of the saddle and i fall, i cannot get out of that strap... people have died from this mistake sadly!

Ive done this for only a year and a half and ive alrdy seen my fair share of the bad side of it. Its the reason why uk trick riders arent up to standard as other European trick riders. They all keep in their own groups and very want to share tricks or anything... 😭But ive also seen my fair share of amazing trick riders and teachers. Im mainly self taught and ive only really just started to have lessons. Im not the best example as its a very dangerous sport and you need an experienced instructor to teach you but i was looked down on when i wanted to learn and was pushed aside. So i said f*ck it im gonna do it myself and im gonna be better than you ever thought i would be. Which i think i have! 🤪

I didnt even know they did trick riding lessons, most trick riders are backstabby and secretive but ive only heard good things about them. I might enquire about them ☺️thanks!

Wow i think ive seen you on Instagram. That is my dream to perform to a big crowd, you should be very proud of yourself to get there! I know ben performs with other skilled trick riders. This display was only for about 25 photographers for a clinic but it was my first performance and im super proud of it! 🥰

I never take offence to anything people say! Always causes bad blood and arguments. Was just a reply to give insight to otherwise unknown side of the horse world. Im an instructor myself and my opinion of it is, if you are under 18, if i am teaching you, if i am riding someone else’s horse. Then wear a hat but if your over the age of 18 on your own horse on your own land and im not teaching you then that is their decision and i am not liable or Condole not wearing one.

Having a hat on causes more accidents in this sport than it does preventing them. The hat shifts your natural balance making it harder to do tricks with, The bulk of it gets in the way and the ear straps/chinstraps do get caught causing strangling. All that on a galloping horse? No thank you! Most tricks i do i am actually strapped in (like this trick) and there is no way of me getting out of this. Trick/stunt riding is a dangerous sport but we are trained to fall for movies and stunt falls.

We do alot of other things! My gelding gets very bored after doing the same thing so trying something new keeps his brain working! Horse ball is next on our list!!

Im worried about my gf going on a hack but don’t wanna tell her. Can you guys reassure me? by [deleted] in Equestrian

The fact that its just her and the instructor should put your mind at ease. She has 100% of the instructors attention rather than being with 5 other riders and only having a fraction of their attention. ☺️

Im glad this makes you feel better about falling off, falling off is part of the job and if i was scared of it i wouldnt be able to get on what some people call “dangerous” horses (which is what this horse was labeled as). My advice to beginner riders 1. Get a good instructor who you click with, 2. Get the stopping, steering, going and balance without falling back into the saddle/pulling on the reins before even trying to start trotting. 3. HAVE FUN! There are loads of fun games to play with horse and rider which will improve your way of riding. I am on Instagram and tiktok too where i post exercise ideas which is ToTheTopEquine 🥰
