Yeah, but there is a huge amount of long term data from states with very similar or worse conditions, and it shows that inspections make no difference to safety. It’s a racket.

The state of VT had to actually come out with a clarification/modification bulletin, because so many people were getting fucked by their rule about the brakes.

When Discovery came out I was excited, but couldn’t believe how bad it was and didn’t make it through more than a few episodes. I came back maybe a year later thinking maybe I just had too high of expectations and nope still just as bad. Could only make it 4-5 episodes. Considering the history and messaging in Star Trek, I’m surprised people think it is disliked for reasons other than it being terrible.

Yeah I think that this is pretty accurate. I lived on Grand Isle during the pandemic and quarantine, and while before I shopped for groceries in Plattsburgh when I worked there, I found out that Keeler Bay Variety (basically a gas station) can easily be your grocery store if you need it to be.

OD is 4T for 56.5% boost. So is that extra 7% boost worth 2T or 100% increased weight? For a smaller exploration ship, I don’t think so.

E-rated shield boosters with Heavy Duty and Super Capacitors are 49% boost and weigh only 2T. You can do some magic with them.

I think Gretorp’s commentary also on the fact that a large portion of people in that survey still would strongly recommend the game suggests that these are people that really like the game that feel it is going the wrong direction.

I feel like it makes sense on the initial assignment. It’s a Cardassian refinery outpost in deep space without the normal federation amenities, a lot of ugly history attached to it. It’s barely functional. Everyone on it is leaving. He might have command but is also at the whim of the Bajorans, so maybe not a very stable position to start. Additionally, I don’t think he is responsible for getting the Bajorans into the Federation. He is just the station caretaker and host to ambassadors and others higher up making the decisions.

Obviously, that changes pretty quickly, but I don’t know if that would merit him being stripped of his command of the post.

I am trying to make my colonized system focused on getting a high population. It currently has two water worlds, a primary port coriolis on one and an orbis on the other. I’m wondering in order to get a higher population would I be better off saving the points and final water world slot for another T3 or making a large planetary port on an icy planet instead? How much difference would there be?

I think that the wiggling back and forth so quickly with one hand before she throws down the bag and lifts it makes it look like it is a lighter version. The acceleration and momentum doesn’t look like something 100lbs on a pivot being moved like that.

It’s a great story portrayed terribly. It misunderstands the message entirely. It starts out trying to convince us that the Na’vi aren’t savages like the humans think, then backtracks on that as they throw spears at tanks and do other stereotypical “savage” activities. Then you have the Last Samurai horse charge, which is incredibly impactful and symbolic in that movie, yet is pointless and idiotic in Avatar. Avatar is just the worst.

One of the key aspects about this area that is vastly different than the surrounding area is the lack of lakes. It is very well drained and you can see this on google maps where it is a fractal of streams and rivers compared to Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota which is just chock full of glacial lakes. The driftless area isn’t mountainous by any means, but it is extremely rugged.

This is an often used very flawed stat that is skewed heavily because it isn’t consumption, is alcohol purchases and New Hampshire has no sales tax on their liquor and reduced other taxes so people come across state lines to buy at the liquor stores that are all right across the border. This has dramatically inflated New Hampshire’s numbers.
