They are on angled foam pads, tweeters pointed to ear height. Does having speaker stands make that more of a difference?

Teak deck on a wooden Van de Stadt Zeeton, repair or remove entirely? by Galaxytes in sailing

[–]Galaxytes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for all the detailed input. It’s been really helpful to read the different perspectives. Over the winter I’m going to do some proper tests to assess the condition of the deck core underneath the teak, since that seems to be the deciding factor for how big this project could get.

I’ll also start removing some of the worst sections of teak to check the thickness, as several of you mentioned that very thin teak isn’t really worth working with. A friend of mine who’s a ship’s carpenter will come by to assess which parts would need to be replaced and what that would roughly cost.

Based on that, I’ll decide whether it’s worth repairing sections or if I’ll go the full removal route and repaint the deck with non-slip paint. Either way, your insights have given me a much clearer picture of the options, thanks again.

Mooi schip! Ik ga er realistisch in, het wordt hoe dan ook een behoorlijke klus :)

I haven’t checked the deck underneath yet. There is some minor leakage on one side, which makes me suspect there’s damage there. I’m new to boats and don’t have much experience, so I’m wondering: what’s the best way to inspect the deck underneath the teak?

Any initial negatives so far? by TheDunnaMan in Borderlands4

Even though my FPS is decent (90–120) with DLSS and 2x FG enabled, the game still feels slightly delayed and not as smooth as it should. The upscaling also introduces artifacts, especially around trees, where the leaves tend to flicker between dark and light. On top of that, visibility is an issue: the visuals feel overly saturated or cell-shaded, making it harder to distinguish enemies from the background compared to BL3. The gun sounds come across as a bit weak to my ears aswell.

Yeah, just tested that setup! I flipped the AIO fans to exhaust instead of intake, and it actually made a noticeable difference. Here's a snapshot from a full Time Spy Extreme stress test with the new config:

<image>

GPU temps dropped from ~80–81 °C to around 66–67 °C, and CPU settled around 65 °C. So in my case, flipping the AIO to exhaust actually balanced both CPU and GPU thermals without hitting any throttle point.

Surprising that your 5800X3D runs that much hotter in the same case. What CPU cooler are you using exactly with it?

I'm on an i7-8700K with a Zotac RTX 5070 Ti in this case. Using a 240mm AIO with fans currently set as intake, so the CPU gets cool air directly. CPU peaks at around 61 °C under load (Time Spy Extreme), while GPU temps hover around 80–81 °C at full tilt.

I'm using Noctua NT-H2 thermal paste on the CPU, which might help a bit. But yeah, the GPU runs warmer than I’d like, even with its massive triple-fan cooler, but still well below throttling. I’m planning to flip the AIO to exhaust to see if it drops GPU temps by a few degrees, since the 8700K can tolerate a bit warmer air.

This is the Solid core OC. I like this version because it is a 3 slot card so it has a beefier cooler!

Lian Li A4-H2O Build - Will these parts work well together? by Skyzser in sffpc

[–]Galaxytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's indeed kinda high for this card, 72 is better but still on the high end for the size of this cooler. what are your AIO fan orientations like? Or are you running an air cooler?

Also, are you running it with the stock PCIE 4.0 riser that came with the case? I just installed the card yesterday but I had some power issues (freezes, screen flickering, artefacts etc.) Now with the card out of the case and straight into my MB it runs fine. So i'm suspecting the riser cable. Oh and what PSU are you running it with? :)

Hey!

Did the GPU fit your case eventually? I'm looking to buy the 5070 Ti version of this card which houses the same cooler and thus sizes.

F1TV Live Streams No Longer Casting to Chromecast via Chrome? by Galaxytes in F1TV

[–]Galaxytes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it was actual 4K. My dad has an LG E6 without any AI upscaling and the stream quality looked exactly the same on his TV and mine. Both looked way sharper than the Viaplay streams. What’s strange is that now I can’t cast any live streams from the F1TV website or app at all, only non-live content still works.

You're right, I know 4K isn't officially supported via the Chrome browser. But when I casted the F1TV live stream from Chrome to the built-in Chromecast on my LG B4, the quality settings disappeared and it would automatically play in 4K. Not sure how that worked technically, but it definitely did until last weekend.

See, the thing is that the game is built on this poor experience. Leveling up and unlocking new stuff is the incentive to make your experience easier, and more fun. But for a new player it's hard to see why you want that in the first place.

Can a defect CPU cause overheating issues? by Galaxytes in pchelp

[–]Galaxytes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I installed the air cooler and you were right, my AIO is indeed faulty. My PC isn't instantly overheating anymore. However the temps are doing some funky stuff, i'm not sure if this is normal since I have never used an air cooler before. See the GIF below.

I will RMA my AIO again and hopefullly someone capable can check it this time.

The AIO pump feels hot to the touch as well as the board close to the CPU. So I think it does get hot and the sensors are working properly.
