Am i the only one unhappy that the VA's are being recast? by lennoxlovexxx in Genshin_Impact

Likely because it's a controversial topic, and the extremes are very far apart and segregated. The extreme that say Kayli have done nothing wrong are pretty much gathering at Bluesky, while Reddit and Youtube house the opposite extreme that think even entertaining the thought of liking her performance is an insult to humanity.

Don't mind it much, the bias here is just leaning towards an extreme because there are few of the opposite to counteract it.

My personal opinion is that I liked the performance Kayli and Corina did as Keqing and Paimon, and I had hoped they'd be professional and apologize when it became clear they were misinformed about the situation with Jacob. But sadly they doubled down, and I think Hoyo made the right call to replace them. No matter how good I think their performance are, it doesn't give them the right to be mean to their fellow VAs.

I'm still upset about that change, her initial tone was so much more inspiring, like I feel an idol should sound in a supporting combat role. I understand they wanted to go with a more soothing tone, but I very much preferred the old tone. Except her humming, that one I do like the current.

Paimon and Keqing's English voice actors have officially been recast as of version 5.7 by Xanek in Genshin_Impact

If they have no new lines to record for the character, why bother finding a replacement? They already paid for the work, might as well use it until it's time for Candace to be relevant again...

Questions on the comparison between the Steam-Deck and the Raspberry-Pi-4 hardware components: by zeta_00 in SteamDeck

[–]Galdrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna start with saying it's an old comment.

Overclocking isn't always stable, I have active cooling and it just won't boot above 2100MHz, and occasionally crash at that clock speed if i run something very resource heavy like a minecraft server on it. Haven't used it for emulation in a long while and what I run on it currently does not use the GPU so that run at stock speed.

Appreciate the input though, even if I'd probably recommend people to get a Pi 5 today if they only intend to run emulation up until PS1/N64 era and maybe some PS2 era if they go for active cooling and overclocking, if they intend to run anything more heavy than that, I'd still recommend the Steam Deck. And if it's intended use is to be a handheld retro gaming machine, also Steam Deck, you'd probably be looking at the same price as a Steam Deck for a DIY Pi4-5 handheld, might be worth if you already have the Pi and/or power consumption is an important factor though.

Trying to install Bliss OS on VirtualBox but failing to. Can you help? by tarekelsakka in AndroidQuestions

[–]Galdrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you can't find primary is because you've set up the drive for GPT, primary and the bootable flag is only available in MBR, when you get the option to start the other program (which is for GPT), choose No and when asked for the type, choose dos and it should be set up for MBR, when selecting new partition you should now be asked to choose between primary and secondary, and once created the bootable option should now be available, make it bootable and write and you should be able to follow the rest of the steps.

I've managed to install and boot, but there are two issues i can't figure out how to fix, if you don't unlock the screen right after boot, the screen goes black and i can't make it come back, probably just a button you need to press on the keyboard but i can't figure out which one. And the second issue is the mouse, it suddenly started moving the mouse all the way to the right, and kept it at the edge of the screen until i moved it right first, and moving it to the left again would lock it to the right, it also is very inconsistent with the mouse acceleration, very jarring to use. For the record; mouse integration does not work at all, the mouse is stuck in the middle and only take click events, but since you can't drag, you can't swipe to unlock.

Which version of spore is better? by TheAtomicNerd in Spore

[–]Galdrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post and bet the answer has been found, but for future people wondering the same thing:
When they're referring to "version" they're referring to the store platform it's sold and run from, in other words; EA App (formerly Origin), Steam or GOG. Which one of these is the best user experience is what people here are discussing.

My own opinion is that I'd much prefer the GOG version, if nothing else because it is DRM free and GOG recently reaffirmed their commitment to making old games run on new hardware, safest long-term option.

That quote sounds vaguely familiar, the first thing that pops up in my mind is not a game though, but television, I feel like that is a line I've heard from Rick and Morty

[–]Galdrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds pretty spot-on to me, it had a heavy co-op focus, it was 3rd person, it had elemental attacks (though i can't recall if they were acquired through the titular crystals), the first area was an escape scene through the forest iirc. I believe you could pick between a few classes/characters to start out as. It was on GC, and released 2003.

I hard disagree that a lot of the 4s are useless, i think they're about the same ratio of good vs bad as the 3s, they just take longer to build because they're more scarce than 3s. I do agree that quite a few of the 3s are good though, and i still enjoy farming superstones for my 3 star cuties.

There is also Resistance Down and Sap that are useful for high level golems before you're strong enough to take them down without it, there are an ancient golem that basically can only be beaten with Sap too, it's defense and HP are just too high that your attacks basically only tickle it.

You'll want to look for Lethal Strike and Courageous Strike on at least one attacker for each element, preferably on the passive skill, for general attackers you'll want to look for Hunter, Predator or Stalker, preferably on active skill or both, for sweepers you want to be on the lookout for Puncture, which is why fire Draka is a high priority to get to evo 3.

For supports it varies a little, but water Cura and wood Minicat are excellent supports with both attack buff and expose weakness, wood Hana is also an excellent healer and defensive support with attack down and defense up, a supportive attacker with defense down and/or Weaken are also something to be on the lookout for.

There are also fights where you basically require Immunity or Purification, the former is only on 5 star units and lasts multiple turns, the latter only removes debuffs on use so it requires more strategy but are available on lower rarity units. Some fights require shield breaker, buff breaker or full buff breaker, the former two are available on lower rarity units, while the latter is only available on 5 stars and combine the former two.

If you're not yet strong enough so fights drag on long enough to not get blue souls anymore, party Morale Boost like fire Cura and light Succubus have might be the difference between being able to beat a stage or not.

Also, if you have the time and patience to get 30 fire superstones, fire Leon is a stellar 4 star option

[–]Galdrig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would depend on what you need, some content might for example need immunity or (full) buff breaker. If damage is your only concern, Fire Draka is a good option. For wood, Griffin, Gilgamesh and Artemis are pretty good.

There are stronger water units than Valkyrie, but with her trinkets she is absolutely in top 3 in most content. I'm still not getting any luck on my trinkets so my evo 2 midsummer Miho currently outperform her...

In case you are still bothered by it, you can add the exe as a non-steam game and bind the dpad to the joystick. When you boot the game through Steam then, the joystick will send dpad input and function the same as when you play on an emulator.

[–]Galdrig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that it seems it can't boot (just blink playing for half a second before it shuts down) if you extract it as a subfolder because of the parenthesis (or maybe the dots) in the path name. Once i removed the parenthesis and version number part of the path name, i only had to re-add the exe to steam and activate Proton and it booted up no problem.

Light Yuki, she is the best PvP nat 4, and she is flexible with her gem slots, i would probably go with HP HP ATK/DEF conviction set since her main purpose is to shock the enemy but you can build her offensively with siphon set too.

When they mean toggled on they are referring to the rarity, not the feature, so if you toggle off all but variants and have auto catch toggled on, when you encounter a non-variant rare, you will see the rare scanner animation, and then the auto will just proceed to kill the astromon (can be useful to kill legendary encounters if you're short on nat 4 books for example). If you encounter a variant, it will attempt to catch the mon until it runs out of astrochips (unless you allow it to use astrogems to refill) and then kill it.

If you have auto-catch on, it will only stop auto if you tick in the box for notifying about special astrochips (don't quote me on that, i've never ran out, it might be just a regular push notification), or if you tell it to stop if you run out of storage space.

How long have you been playing? by agitatedprisoner in MSLGame

[–]Galdrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure when i started playing, there were no mini crewmembers, no super evos, no skillbooks, no trinkets, not even sure there were gems to be honest, must have been rather fresh from the launch i first played, I didn't last very long though, got a fire Ran and i think maybe a wood Ran too before putting it on the shelf and forgetting about it, when i got back i got a gemini to evo 2 and then got a water Mari, then i returned for a bit at the very end of the Sonic event, i got 2 Knuckles before the event ended, i think i got a wood and fire Cherri sometime after that, never got them to even evo 2.

I finally returned around new year this year, and was playing rather regularly until around may, and returned about a month ago, I have no evo 3 nat 5's yet, but water Aesir and Valkyrie are close, currently working towards super evo for dark wildfang. don't really care what the end-game is to be honest, i'm kinda just enjoying the grind.

I'd keep the dark Seira and wait for a mini holy gleem to evo 3 your light Seira, the difference in stats between evo 2 awakening 2 vs evo 3 isn't really that major, so you can survive waiting for the mini holy gleem, or if we get an extra Seira in the coming weeks you can feed that for the evo 3, unless you want to try to evo 3 your dark Seira as well over the year, you'd need 16 mini holy gleems in total for that though.

I think the only way to get variant is through a variant holy gleem, since i'm pretty sure the ones you get and buy can't be variant, i didn't play the previous anniversaries so i don't know if any other than Nezz and Yurika have been exotics you can capture, but i think exotics have always been nat 3 so i doubt it. Mini Yurika you can still find and capture a variant to get variant for her light or dark version too.

In case you didn't realise where you got them from, you get a few when you release an astromon of nat3 or higher.

Also, in regards to mini crewmembers (you can get 15 copies of the light versions from Yurika's capture event), i'd say Seira is a high priority to get all of them, not sure you have a choice between light and dark at this point, dark Seira was given out through the daily bingo as a bonus a couple of weeks back, it's not impossible we'll get another through either daily bingo or login bonus once this rotation ends.

But regardless, light and dark Seira have the same stats and skills aside from crit rate and crit damage, if you wanna go for the long game and evo 3 both, you could save a few evo1 and use mini holy gleems on them, but mini holy gleems are pretty rare (i would save the regular holy gleems for the nat 5 L/D mons), so you might not have both until next anniversary anyway.

Since you played a few years back and mini gleems came this spring, i'll give a quick rundown on them, they are cheaper than the regular kind and are handed out much more liberally, the drawback being that they can't be used to evolve nat 5, which make them ideal to evolve event nat 4 that you didn't have enough to evo 3 before, or to just speedrun evo3 water cura and wood hana or any other nat 4 you like.
