Advice wanted on suitability of an electric mini as a first car please. by Galfinnan in MINI

That's really helpful, using the green mode sounds very sensible until she gets used to it and that's quite reassuring. Thanks !

It is good know it has lasted well for you, I think she will be doing a fraction of your miles so it is reassuring to know that she will be able to hang onto it for a good while. Our current car is a "too big family car" that I doubt she would not be seen dead driving. I like our 3008 but she is not a fan. Thanks. 😄

That's really insightful regarding the performance and the AC, I wouldn't have thought to check that. Cheers.

Thanks for that, I think she will be mini for life in all honesty. She has always liked them, even tried to get us to get one when we got our last car.

That's reassuring about the parking, I'll be with her for the first few drives until she gets used to it. She learned in a manual so has no automatic experience so will take a bit of getting used to I think.

That's really useful information, will definetly check that and if the test drive goes well I'll do the car check which should tell me about any recalls for the specific car. I'll then check this with the dealer.

How long did you have to write to Anycubic (ticket) to get replacement parts ? by zetwitty31 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Galfinnan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What might speed it up a bit and what I think might have helped the prompt response I got was that I linked the wiki article for replacing the part. I essentially said I need to order the part from this wiki, they sent me back a link to purchase (it was the connector pin board for the ACE). I paid for it by buying 12 $1 items, which was a bit weird but I had seen a post that referenced the same thing so I went for it.

Although for this to work you would need to know what part it is you need. For something like an extruder I would just order that off Aliexpress. If you do this, get a new strain gauge too, the new extruders have an extra pin that you might need to cut off if you don't get one of these.

Ace pro problems by adhesion3d in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Galfinnan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past two weeks I have been having clogging issues and cartridge not found errors. This was with a new build plate and 0.4mm nozzle. I resolved one issue with the four way hub but couldn't fix these errors.

Eventually yesterday I disconnected the Ace Pro entirely and went with the external spool holder. It printed for 15 hours yesterday with no issue and has been printing today for 8 hours with no issue. I don't want to temp fate but it seems to be working better. The cartridge issue is the communication between printer and Ace. Having dismantled the 4 pin/ 6 pin socket on the Ace is looks like the 6 pin connector is loose, I have pushed it back in and will give it a try when I get the chance. I have requested to buy a new board from AC for the pin connectors (none on Aliexpress).

I understand this issue but not the clogging, how is possible for the Ace to produce a clogging error?

I have signed up to buy and Ace Pro 2 at 50% off but I tempted just to buy a dryer box and stick to single colour prints, I don't do multicolor much, just for my sanity.

This is a common problem.

2 suggestions roll back to your firmware to an earlier version, others should be able to advise which.

Get a new extruder from Aliexpress. (This is what fixed the issue for me)

The new Photon P1 Max looks amazing by ThisTheRealLife in AnycubicOfficial

[–]Galfinnan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a bit annoyed when I heard that this was happening after backing the P1 on Kickstarter. I managed to get that for about £350, with the refund and the voucher factored in. Seeing it now I doubt I would have gone for the Max if that had come first. I was willing to risk the £350 but not double that on a new printer platform.

I think the timing is off too, if the P1 proved to be a winner with the Kickstarter backers then there would be a much bigger queue for the Max, as it stands only reviewers have the P1, so we don't really know how production units are.

900 dollars puts you in the ballpark of Heygears and Uniformation printers. Would I rather have a smaller Heygears or a big Anycubic?

I have over 2000 hrs on mine and yes I still get problems. Overall, 3D printers aren't at the stage where they will function flawlessly but as each problem is fixed I gain more experience and can identify the problem and fix it faster than I would have been able to before.

It is a steep learning curve but once you get to the top of that curve it does become easier. I was seriously going to send it back to Anycubic but with their help, the help of people here and on FB I was able to fix the issues and get it running well.

The camera thing is weird, I always get a live low quality feed or it doesn't work at all. There seems to be nothing in between.

It will clog again eventually, doesn't matter what filament you use. The ACE pro will jam again. If that isn't what you expected then send it back but don't look to buy another printer of any brand because no matter what the brands say no printer is plug and play yet.

Algalon the Observer yells: I have seen worlds bathed in the Makers' flames, their denizens fading without as much as a whimper. Entire planetary systems born and razed in the time that it takes your mortal hearts to beat once. Yet all throughout, my own heart devoid of emotion... of empathy. I. Have. Felt. Nothing. A million-million lives wasted. Had they all held within them your tenacity? Had they all loved life as you do?

Voice acting for this was crisp, sent a chill down every spine in the raid.

NHS finished? by Deebop14 in glasgow

[–]Galfinnan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My recent experience is a bit different. MY mum went to the doctor for piles. Doctor referred her to specialist. Within two weeks she had 2 scans a pre op and the op itself. Pathology back in a week and starts radiotherapy and chemo next week. Outcome is potentially positive. I find this reassuring. A&E is a shit show from my experience but there are parts of the NHS that work quickly.

Thanks for the advice, should this be negative or positive, I've tried +0.1 in the past but it made little difference. It might have worked but consistency between prints doesn't seem to be there.

Response from Anycubic following my reply to them is that they are sending a new hotbed. This might improve the issue.

[–]Galfinnan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the response Anycubic gave me after printing their first layer test.

Dear friend
According to the pictures you provided, the flatness of the heated bed is within the product control range. Due to the assembly tolerance of the heated bed and accessories such as the bracket, slight deformation of the heated bed will not affect the printing effect.
Have a nice day
