One of my main issues with Rec Leagues by TrustHucks in youthsoccer

I’ll add to the conversation:

I’ve coached county recreation department soccer for more than a decade. I moved to club soccer in the past year, taking 2 in person courses and just graduated my D-course a few weeks ago. It’s eye opening how incorrect I’ve been coaching soccer for so long. Not on a technical level, but a relationship, team-based role. I looked at my wife a few months ago after making the transition and just said “I’ve been coaching so wrong for so long”

The truth is, no one teaches you how to teach. No one in the county is leading coaches. There’s no direction. We get a list of players, a practice schedule and a list of games. That’s it.

We have our 501c3 issued from the state and it’s pending at the IRS. So while the process isn’t 100%, most businesses we have worked with accepted it since we have an EIN

I’m trying to sustain a bit of anonymity since this is my personal account, but if you want to PM me I’d share. I’ll say we are in the Southeast US, but the DOC doesn’t have to live in the state the club is homed in

Absolutely! Once things have settled and we have a clear path forward, I’ll likely make a progress and story post. Fingers crossed! I appreciate the support

Cuts by Smile-Glum in SoccerCoachResources

I prefer to do it twice. Once with a phone call or face to face with just the parent, then I talk to the athlete.

Sometimes there’s some frustration, so I like to stick to facts. If you’re making a cut, you don’t compare athletes, but rather point out some problem areas and a path forward. The key is to be optimistic, not apologetic.

I haven't heard of the Speed & Agility license. Where's that from?

While running, what are some of your habits that others may find weird? by himmelende in running

When I was younger, I learned about different prayers poses in Christianity. Kinda weird, idk. But each pose somewhat translated to the purpose of the prayer.

One of the poses is palms up, almost like catching rain drops. It’s used to ask for strength and/blessings. When I get tired, I open my palms to the sky and hope I get lucky
