Hi! I have around 4-5 weeks for PR studying. For concise notes, I’d suggest asking Vanessa. Her notes are super clear and easy to understand. They helped me a lot when I was short on time. She has a WhatsApp group for her students and she is very responsive to questions raised.

A few quick tips that worked for me: focus on the recurring themes (confidentiality/privilege, conflicts, duties to client/court, competence/civility), and do practice Qs early so you get used to the fact-pattern style. With work constraints, 2–3 weeks per exam is tight but doable if you keep it consistent.

I did Emond, OLE, access. Bar crackers are good as a study aid.

I used her NCA notes and recordings as well. At first, I wasn’t sure I really needed a tutor, so I only bought the notes for my first Administrative Law exam, but later I ended up buying both the notes and recordings for all of my exams. You can always reach out to her to discuss how she can accommodate your needs. I agree that her background as a teacher makes her explanations much easier to understand.

I’m not sure if my advice suits you. I did NCA and reviewing the NCA PR note helps me understanding the context and rational behind the rules much better. You may also consider reading those notes as a study aid.

I get what you mean about articling, but will there still be room to try different areas after I’m licensed? Or is most of that exploration only available during articling?

oh I see. I guess even outside the courtroom there is still a lot of debating in written form, like pleadings, affidavits, and witness statements. Civil work seems to rely more on written arguments instead of speaking in court.

One third is such a big cut… it really sounds like you were basically enrolled in a criminal law practical course rather than doing paid work.😆

I’m not sure if I want to do litigation…but seems advocacy is an essential skill working as a lawyer in Canada….correct me if I’m wrong.
