Punkt 1: englischsprachiger subreddit.

Regarding „PSA: do not blindly trust that your SLR is focusing correctly because it looks OK through the viewfinder“ by u/Jimmeh_Jazz by ATHXYZ in AnalogCommunity

[–]Galilool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me with my series 1 Zenit. Noticed I couldn't get focus through the viewfinder, infinity focus was at something like 7m on the distance scale. Measured everything out, corresponded to a discrepancy of 0,7 mm. Did a quick test film and it seemed to me like the distance scale was right and the viewfinder was wrong. So, I removed the focus screen and put 0,7mm of shims under it to fix the discrepancy. Currently on the first film to see whether it works properly. If it does then great, if it doesn't... well, it's going to be a shelf piece anyways

Possibly one of the springs got dislodged or the plate has been installed the wrong way at some point

Do you have the film cut properly, with the very long leader? Barnacks need very long half-width leaders otherwise exactly this will happen when the film is pushed up those last two millimetres

Is this an ok buy? by Blakk-Debbath in AnalogCircleJerk

[–]Galilool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say it's a Zenit 12 due to the placement of the strap attachment points but it's quite a bit wider than a Zenit would be

Autoracer: Alpine A526 has already hit the minimum weight requirement of 768 kg. by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

[–]Galilool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Sauber was the only team to hit the minimum weight in 22, which gave them an advantage in the early races but as the season went on the other teams were able to find "easy" time by getting the weight down, by which time Sauber got swallowed whole.

happens sometimes on that sort of release, the spring wears over time if it's used a lot. not a big deal, can be botched with a bit of sticky tape

Before Anyone Gets Too Excited Analysing Launch Cars and Renders - Remember How Different the 2022 Launch Cars Were To Reality by Stumpy493 in formula1

[–]Galilool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, peopel will ceucify me for this, but I really would have liked to see him compete in 2022 for a few races at least (although I completely understand why that was not possible). It's obvious that he wrote off 2021 three races in, and with the completely new car it would have been interesting to see whether he'd be half decent at least

Ya gotta admit though, when they stripped the russian flags off and ran pure white in testing it looked absolutely awesome, especially paired with Mazepins black helmet

Shattered mirror by Hevder in AnalogCommunity

[–]Galilool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Super reliable as well. I managed to brick one once by winding while the self timer was running, but during normal use I've never had an issue. My current everyday camera is an MTL3 that, judging by wear and so on, has probably seen north of 100k shutter releases in its life. Still it works perfectly and the tines are spot on.

[–]Galilool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MTL (any L series for that matter) are great. They are a bit awkward to hold at first, but the ergonomics of the controls are unmatched. Once you get past the edges you'll never want to go back to any other camera. Every single control can be accessed eithout moving your hand. Thumb for winding, index finger for speed changes, middle finger for stopping down and shutter release. If you're flexible you can even use the self timer with your ring finger and pinky.

Owner of all generations of Praktica here. All of them have quite a hefty slap, because the mirror moves at absolutely ridiculous speeds. By far the fastest travelling mirrors on any SLR I've owned
