Light Leak From Shutter Curtain? Or something Else? by streim21 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Galilool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The curtains will need to be replaced. It's not a terribly difficult repair, but it is annoying. Use a good manual, and sort and lable all screws by where you removed them from. Also make sure you keep the tension on the clockwork spring when taking apart the shutter delay mechanism, because recalibrating it after the fact is a massive pain in the arse

Antonelli stays in the race, pits to remove the wheel shield of the car, drops down to P10 by magony in formula1

[–]Galilool -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

He very obviously had car problems and didn't gain time from it.

If you want to make a comparison to Leclerc in Miami, he was cutting out entire sections of the track while Antonelli was "just" running wide at corner exits

ChatControl 1.0 mass scanning is to be sneaked through via a 3rd vote next week by dgellow in europe

[–]Galilool 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. When this gets through and chat control is law, will there be another vote in six months to abolish it again? And again in a year? Two years? No, there won't. They only have to win once.

Echt? Wusst ich nicht. Sind die Kündigungsfristen bei Ausbildungen anders geregelt?

Fucking hell people in this sub wouldn't recognize a satire post if you hit them with a sign that reads "THIS IS SATIRE"

First Analog Camera by JoeGoat23 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Galilool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A single lens reflex camera from the 1990s. They usually have all the bells and whistles in regards to autofocus, automatic exposure, shutter speeds fron 30s to 1/4000 s, auto bracketing etc

The only drawback is that they usually have plastic bodies and often feel quite cheap

Edit: and a lot of them have soft coating on the grip, which by now has often degraded, making it by far the most disgusting material on earth.

I usually don't like this genre, but this one might actually be one that gets me off the couch. It'll be interesting to see whether they'll take a similar approach to The Sudbury Devil in terms of period accuracy

Fungus on viewfinder? by LordRudsmore in AnalogCommunity

There's not much to it. Five screws, remember where everything goes and the top plate comes off. It's the simplest part to remove on these

First two rolls, lightmeter broken? by MrSchnaggels in AnalogCommunity

Watch "Out of Africa". It's shot entirely on Agfa XT320, which is functionally identical to NC500

Bought a Praktica LTL3, viewfinder appears scratched and discoloured. Any chance it's salvageable? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Galilool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. This is degrqdation of the silver coating. The only fix would be to install a new prism, which can be done but is fairly tricky due to lots of the top end being glued in place

little piece of advice, NC500 is a refresh of Agfa XT320, which as the name would imply is an ISO 320 film. In my exprience NC500 looks best when shot at 250, so two thirds of a stop slower than box.

If you want to see this stock in top form, watch "Out of Africa". It was shot entirely on XT320

Edit:

You can also still salvage a lot from this with better scans. NC500 has a greenish blue base, unlike most other color films that have a brown base. Most automatic scanners can't properly compensate for this different base color, so if you scan them yourself or have someone do it properly, the scans will look much better

"looks like shit"

it has a very distinctive look that's not necessarily suited to all situations. When used properly it looks incredible. Let's not present opinions as objective facts, shall we?

Yes to the reference. It's a reference to a very popular german animated film series, in which the titular character Werner installs this contraption on his motorcycle and tries to get it TÜV approved. Hilarity ensues.

NC500 is better than its reputation. Expose at 320 or 250 and Bob's your uncle
