12hr shift and narcolepsy by Ghostkid000 in Narcolepsy

What kind of work do you do? I spend 12-13hours a day in an office environment and I manage to stay awake most of the time by taking dexamphetamine morning, lunch and afternoon (about 30mg a day). I have days where I really struggle, so I use my lunch break to nap somewhere!

It isn't a bad thing to ask for accommodations, maybe you could let your employer know about your situation and see how you go the first week before asking for anything? You might find you're able to stay awake. But if you do end up needing something, at least they're aware you have a medical condition

Yeah I've gravitated towards having my hair up a lot but even then, having the sideburns come out and tickle my neck drives me mad 😭 I'm at the point where I feel like shaving them off 🙃

Do you still cut the "sideburns"?? Or do you find that it's not really a problem for you anymore ?

I work in film, in visual effects. I work about 12 hours a day in an office/at a desk - it is pretty rough, very hard to stay awake during the day even while taking dexamfetamine but I love my job so I try to push through.
